-Herbert gives a small sigh.-
Herbert: ...Could we try not to fight on our first date? I get the feeling that this is probably something of a touchy subject for the both of us.
Duke lets out a small sigh "Sure. Anyway, just follow me and we'll get to the arcade in no time."
-Herbert falls silent and follows behind Duke. After a while, however, he pipes up again.-
Herbert: ...You know, I wouldn't actually mind a bit of general fitness getting tacked onto the end of our training sessions. If nothing else, it's a little more time with you, isn't it?
-He gives a small, dorky smile.-
"I suppose, though... I think it won't take long for you take start minding the exercise, considering you needed to catch a breath after running a little." said Duke
-Herbert shrugs.-
Herbert: What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. Granted, that saying would be a lot more appropriate if I didn't know from experience that it's false, but... well, I'm sure I'll survive.
Duke chuckles "I'm not going to try to kill you, you know. I'll try to push you through your limits, but I'm well aware that overexerting yourself is not healthy. We'll take it easy at first, you can find comfort in that." he said, playfully.
-Herbert gives a small smile.-
Herbert: Don't suppose I could push for a few ice cream breaks in-between sessions, could I?
-Duke smirks-
"Just don't get too worked up about it or else all the ice cream will make you fat." he joked.
-Herbert glances down at himself.-
Herbert: I think it'll take more than a few tubs of ice cream to put some meat on my bones.
-He gives a quiet chuckle before becoming more thoughtful.-
Herbert: ...You know, this is easier than I thought it'd be. Sure, it still feels a little weird, but every new relationship does, right?
"It's not any different from a regular relationship. As long as you're with someone you really love, then gender and species are just variables that don't change the end result." said Duke, with a chuckle "At least, that's my viewpoint."
Herbert: That stuff about variables sounds like something I'd expect to hear from Hikari, not you. But yeah, I think I'm starting to see that now.
-He scratches his arm.-
Herbert: Sorry if I'm being a little, uh... clingy or anything. It's going to take a while for me to overcome all my neuroses and stuff, and I don't want to mess this up after everything we've been through to get to this point... I just want to make this work however I can, y'know?
Duke smiles "I'd say it's been working pretty well."
-Herbert gives a sigh of both relief and contentment.-
Herbert: Discounting that little blip earlier, I'd be inclined to agree with you.
-He hesitates for a moment, then rather nervously takes Duke's hand in his.-
Herbert: ...Hopefully this'll make me more comfortable with more touchy-feely stuff too. If you're okay with it, of course.
Duke allows Herbert to hold his hand with no hesitation "I don't see much of a reason for me to have any problem with this. Anyway, you were saying you'd wipe the floor with me in the arcade?"
If Herbert were to pay attention he would notice they were in the arcade's entrance by now.
-Herbert perks up.-
Herbert: Oh yeah! C'mon, this is my chance to show you one of my few natural talents. Don't expect me to go easy on you, though!
-He drags Duke into the arcade - insofar as a skinny teenager can drag someone a head taller than them who presumably weighs nearly twice as much.-
Duke is a bit surprised as he gets dragged into the arcade, but he just lets Herbert bring him to whatever game he feels like playing.
"Well, I guess I already know my chances."
-Sarah is sitting on a bench, watching the Ferris Wheel go around.-
-Herbert drags Duke over to an arcade cabinet chosen seemingly at random.-
Herbert: Not to worry, I promise that I'll try not to win by too much.
-A raven-haired boy in dark clothes still going by his former alias comes up behind Sarah, giving a slightly weak but no less genuine smile.-
Herbert: You know, there's not much point in watching the Ferris Wheel when you could be riding it instead.
-Sarah smiles-
Sarah: I haven't had anyone to go on it with yet. Unless you want to change that.
-Herbert goes slightly red, but gives a nod nonetheless.-
Herbert: Sure, why not? We seem to do everything together these days. Not that I'm complaining, mind - I wouldn't have anything to do at all otherwise.
-He starts making his way towards the Ferris Wheel.-
-Sarah giggles and follows Herbert-
Sarah: That's kinda what happens when we're away from everyone else.
-She smiles a bit wider-
Sarah: It really is refreshing, being away from all of that. All of them.
Herbert: Yeah, I suppose it is... it's not something I can just put behind me and forget about, though. Not really. But at least being here with you lets me pretend that I don't have a care in the world.
-Once he reaches the bottom of the Ferris Wheel, he steps aside to let Sarah enter the car.-
Herbert: Ladies first.
-Sarah grins as Herbert steps aside-
Sarah: How chivalrous. A proper knight in shining armor.
-She steps into the car-
Sarah: Of course, without the shining armor itself. Still gotta work on that part.
-Herbert, growing steadily redder in the cheeks, follows Sarah in as the car starts to ascend.-
Herbert: Funnily enough, I had an actual suit of armour for a while back in Ransei. Didn't take it with me, though, that thing weighed a ton... still, anything would probably be better than my scruffy old sweater by this point.
Sarah: Aww, but I like the scruffy old sweater. Maybe we could get you a scruffy new sweater or something.
