-Upon hearing Duke, Herbert wheels around and snaps to attention, glancing around rather nervously.-

Herbert: No, I don't have any appointments, I'm just... well, there was something I was meaning to talk to you about before we get started, actually.

-Herbert continues to avoid Duke's gaze, tugging nervously on the end of his scarf.-

Herbert: You see, I, uh... well, I've been thinking about some things recently. About us, specifically. We've been friends for almost a year now, and, erm... I realise that I've been enjoying the time we spend together more and more. And I know that what I'm about to say might sound weird because of some of my, uh... issues, but I... you know what, I'm just going to come right out and say it.

-He takes a deep breath and looks up at Duke.-

Herbert: ...I think I like you, Duke.

-Herbert shakes his head.-

Herbert: No no no, that's not what I meant... I've always liked you, but now I think I like like you.

-Herbert shakes his head again, now blushing furiously and growing increasingly frustrated.-

Herbert: Ugh, maybe this was a mistake... look, Duke, I think I want us to be more than just friends.

-Herbert is still unable to meet Duke's gaze, continuing to focus on the

Herbert: I know, I know, it's weird and it's messed up and it's probably not something you wanted to hear. I mean, you're both a guy and a Pokemon, the very idea of a relationship with you should be making me dry heave... and yet here I am, stuttering out a confession. Because I've had these feelings for you ever since before Orre, and it's taken me this long to make sense of it all, and I know it's wrong and screwed up but I still can't help but want it on some level...

-Herbert looks up at Duke, a rather hopeful smile spreading across his face even as his blushing intensifies.-

Herbert: So, uh... does that mean you're okay with this? You're not repulsed or weirded out or anything?

Herbert: Oh, thank goodness... so, uh, now that I've actually gotten around to spitting it out, would you, um... would you like to go out somewhere? I mean, so long as it wouldn't get in the way of training, that is...
