Topic: ITT: We Are All in a Pokécenter - Interest and Signups

We Are All in a Pokécenter – Signup Thread

Main RP: Here
Discussion Thread: Look here.
Last Updated: [11/24/2012]

This is the signup thread for the We Are All in a Pokécenter roleplay. To sign up just copy and fill the following form.

* Sign up your MAIN character and any mons that you want to start out with
** You may introduce more characters later without having to go through this process (with the caveat of identifying mons under the formal ownership of a trainer), but still, it would be nice to get to know your style as a character creator (and it’s fun to get to see how ideas wind up starting out~).
* This signup form serves specifically for this branch of the RP. Other branches in other forums / boards may be subject to other structure and requirements depending on their particular rules. (If you're confused by what this means, perhaps you should consider re-reading the OP in Discussion.)
* Whenever I, or a moderator okays your signup, you're free to start posting. Please take the time to read the sanity rules in Discussion first, though.

General Do's and Don'ts:
* Character naming: Do note that explicitly demeaning names or names that are unpronounceable strings of characters aren’t obligated to be accepted.
* You are not obligated to divulge whether your trainer is more than merely a means to an end for placing your Pokémon within the Pokécenter, or things like that.
* You are however obligated to divulge things that would make your character overly unique, such as special skills or abilities, in consideration with the character rules depicted in Discussion. Talk to us about your plans, don't surprise us.
* As a MicroRP designed to facilitate character testing, pretty much the only things that will get your mon from being taken as-is in this department is making them the sort of mon that would casually violate the "no ganking / maiming other chars" rule depicted in Discussion, or very, VERY unsubtle perverts (because, you know, some of us like to keep the stuff on our computers non-steamy).
* If you want to incorporate a mechanic not from the mainline games canon, bring it up in the respective place in your signup (mon bio, movelists, etc) and be ready and open for discussion, as well as for taking rolling changes from your current interpretation.

Your Main Character

* Name (Ideally, your parents in-verse didn't call you 'AAA', so what DID they call you?)
** Gender ("Neither" is an option here, but will be less likely to be accepted and more likely to attract closer scrutiny)
** Age (Non-numeric answers are fine, but still, things more specific than "postpubescent" or "not dead yet" would be preferred)
** Origin (Preferred, but not strictly necessary. Try and keep answers within locations that occur or otherwise would be tied to in-game places.)
** Bio (Your chance to spill any pertinent information regarding your character. Not obligatory if your character is a mundane human, but still nice nonetheless.)
*** Specifics that the bio can include: appearance, personality, backstory.

Your Main's Mons

Post up to six sequences of the following, one for each mon (I will consider expanding this number in the future):

* Name.
** Species (What it says on the tin)
** Gender (Your mon is a s/he? An it?)
** Approximate Level (What sort of moves can we expect your mon to use? How tough is s/he or it going to be?)
** Personality (What is your mon like? Not having much to work with is understandable. Do note that you are allowed to not get too deep on this end, as Special does, if you really desire, but an effort to at least have some acknowledgement that your mon is something other than "Surf User A" would is not only highly appreciated, but opens new avenues for social links /  interaction with other characters.)
** Bio (Are there any notable facets that color your mons' worldview? Are they bred? Wild caught? This is the spot where you share it if you've come up with something. Also, egg / TM / Tutor Moves should be considered for mention if you've planned out your character that much)

Re: ITT: We Are All in a Pokécenter - Interest and Signups

Hopefully this is acceptable~

Character Name: Jack Auro

"Um... Hi. I like Ice types, I guess..."

Apperance: Blue eyes, long purple hair tied in a ponytail, long bangs split down the middle, face is hairless, looks somewhat narrow and somewhat... Feminine, perhaps. (If comparing to other fictional characters isn't a no-no, he looks like a mix of Pokemon Conquest!Mitsuhide and Assassin from F/SN.) Generally wears thick clothing - Jackets, long pants and the like - always some shade of light blue.

Age: Somewhere in his early-to-mid twenties

Origin: Sinnoh (still working out specifics)

Bio: A somewhat shy man, Jack doesn't talk to others much except when it's something that really intrests him, like Pokemon. He's actually more social and openly friendly around Pokemon than most humans, though if you can get past his quiet demeanor and befriend him, he's pretty nice most of the time. He's also anavid gamer, something he shares with most of his Pokemon. He's an ice specialist who prefers the cold, and got a Sneasel as his first Pokemon on a trip to Snowpoint. Since then, he's accrued a full team, and shares a strong bond with them all.

Mons:

Cryoclaw (Starter)

"I swear, everyone else on this team is gonna drive me insane. "

Species: Weavile

Gender: Male

Approximate Level: 60

Personality: Snarky, and rather outwardly abrasive to everyone other than his Trainer (who he respects too much to make fun of) and Klondike (who can kick his butt) Likes beating his trainer at video games.

Bio: Caught as a Sneasel near Snowpoint, and is Jack's first mon. The two of them are pretty much like brothers at this point.

Champ

"Hi there! Want a flipperhug?"

Species: Lapras

Gender: Male

Approximate Level: 55

Personality: Big-hearted and affectionate, but his clumsiness on land can get the better of him. Also has trouble realising his affection isn't always welcome.  Hates being called fat.

Bio: Raised from an egg given to Jack by his researcher uncle,  and knows Dragon Pulse and Dragon Dance as a result. Jack also uses him for water transport.

Opera

"Oh, this won't do! You need to look STUNNING!"

Species: Jynx

Gender: Female

Approximate Level: 55

Personality: Something of a fashionista and a neat freak, she's always preening herself, her teammates, and even her Trainer to look their best.  Fears "filthy" mons.

Bio: Caught as a Smoochum during a swarm at Lake Acuity.

Klondike

"WHAT DID I TELL YOU ABUT MOCKING CHAMP'S WEIGHT?!"

Species: Beartic

Gender: Female

Approximate Level: 55

Personality:  Very sweet, affectionate, and motherly... Unless you're a jerk to her Trainer or teammates. That's when you get a massive beatdown. Fears her teammates getting hurt badly.

Bio: Caught... somewhere in Unova, most likely near Dragonspiral, as a Cubchoo.  May have been in a Hidden Hollow and thus have a Dream World Ability if that's OK.

Wendigo

"It's because I'm secretly part ninja."

Species: Abomasnow

Gender: Male

Approximate Level: 55

Personality: A CloudCuckoolander prone to Insane Troll Logic. Enjoys making weird noises and doing things that make no sense to outsiders.  Likes munching random things.

Bio: Barged into Jack's house one day as a Snover, demanding to know where the vending machine was. He decided he liked it and Jack caught him soon after.

Half-Shell

"That... That was AWESOMETACULAR!"

Species: Cloyster

Gender: Female

Approximate Level: 55

Personality: Half-Shell goes all out, living life to the extreme. She's got a passion and flare for battling, and is prone to making up new adjectives to describe her stunts.  Enjoys watching explosions.

Bio: Raised from a spare egg given to Jack by a breeder, and has only evolved recently.

Re: ITT: We Are All in a Pokécenter - Interest and Signups

Jeff
  • Gender: Male

  • Age: 17 (birthday: 7 November)

  • Origin: Slateport City, Hoenn

  • Bio: Jeff is your average 17 year old trainer…except for one thing: He's a telepath. Not particularly skilled with his ability, he sometimes can't really control it, mainly when in very stressful/scary situations, which has gotten him into trouble on more than one occasion due to accidentally broadcasting thoughts meant to stay private. Due to telepathy, he is able to understand non-Dark mons.

  • Appearance: http://fav.me/d56d5zc

Marshal
  • Species: Marshtomp

  • Gender:Male

  • Level: Low 30s

  • Personality: Laid back and relaxed, but also the voice of reason within the team.

  • Bio: He was adopted as a Mudkip from a shelter in Slateport when Jeff was younger.

Baxter
  • Species: Mightyena

  • Gender: Male

  • Level: Mid 20s

  • Personality: He's hyperactive and quirky, but is incredibly loyal and very protective, especially of Elysia

Elysia
  • Species:Sableye

  • Gender: Female

  • Level: ~5

  • Personality: Affectionate and mischevious (I mean, she's a toddler, so that's pretty much a given :Þ). Sees Baxter as her "Big Brother"

  • Bio: She hatched a few months ago after being given to Jeff by an old friend

Yes, this is an altered version of my WAAPT character, and is the starting point for my headcanon version of him.

Re: ITT: We Are All in a Pokécenter - Interest and Signups

Hello. Color me [interested]! Yeah, even though I knew it was coming~

Anyway, signing up for this RP. As in WAAPT I'd like to try to introduce some concepts so I'm open to discussion and reinterpretation to a point.

Your Main - Canon!Silent

* Name: Silent (tentative, no, his parents didn't call him that but it's not 'AAA' either)
** Gender: ♂ (male)
** Age: 20
** Origin: A region not yet in Pokémon games canon, but which if I'm somehow successful in life, will be! *triumphal fanfarre plays*
** Bio:
Silent is the kind of person who more or less lies in the sidelines watching what other people are doing until someone screws up badly enough that he has to take center stage. Prefers to counsel or advice people on how to do things instead, though at the same time is quick and vocal to admonish people who are very blatantly making things worse.

Grew up in a mediterranean region where teams of three were favoured over the standard teams of six seen elsewhere, so he keeps a close relationship with his Pokémon and walks with them around a lot. May in theory have championed one or two leagues, including his own region's, but is not in the business of fighting evil overlords and or terrorist organizations and or cults and or Peace and Love Inc. wannabes. Wanders around learning and spreading knowledge of various arts and techniques related to "holistic Pokémon battling", that is doing more in battle than just stand in the background giving instructions. Has a lot of experience with some Poison-type Pokémon in particular Nidoran. May, depending on the setting, be employed or about to be employed by an extensive research project on Pokémon as a whole (and to correct those egregious Pokédex mistakes!).

Your Main’s Mons

#1 Name: Inka
Species / Gender: Nidorina / ♀ (but of course!)
Approximate Level: Early 40s; she "knows the motions" for higher level moves, but does not have the expertise or the power level to pull them off.

Personality: Behind every great man there is a great woman they say and they're not always the same species :3 - The "obvious boss" of the team, though not exactly fitting the role of a leader. Compassionate towards people who like to be alone. Likes to be petted behind her ears, likes to collect varieties of berries, as well as carrots, to eat when she has time. Inka is fairly territorial around Silent even when it is something temporary, but is also careful when aware of the "temporariness" of the territory, for example prefers thumping and pounding instead of biting or scratching in places or objects Silent is going to be around only for a very short while. Telltale sign she uses to tell someone she doesn't like how Silent is being treated is to sit on her hind legs right before his shoes / leg, with forepaws rested by the side of her body.  She tends to use various cues to "remind" humans and Pokémon that she can change her mind and switch from defensive to offensive.

She is not above trying human foods, toys or tasks for experimentation and for socializing, though always prefers the wild natural thing and will insist / pester on it when given the chance. Dislikes when people/mons move or roll around in their sleep, but is OK with them snoring. She seems to worship the sun and the morning and makes a point of trying to watch the sunrise when she can even if she goes right back to bed to sleep for the rest of the day afterwards.

Bio:  Acquired as a starter when Silent's school had a "pick-a-mon" day visiting a local preservation. Grew to the role of a traditional starter with time. Has been trained in some nonstandard battle strategies, focusing on switching from long to short range to deal with flying enemies or those who can spam her weaknesses from a distance. Knows she is the strongest one in the team, understands and embraces the concept of Asskicking Equals Authority and is not hesitant to prove it, but unless the team is in danger, she lets them explore on their own in a somewhat motherly fashion. May, depending on what the setting allows, have experience in disposal of various kind of materials depending on the scale of silliness versus seriousness, so could as well be monster trucks as could be trashing guns.

Inka is stated to have a mate, of her same evolutionary level, who stays offscreen as he is a wild Pokémon. (It is undecided as of yet if this version of Inka is a mom or not)

Moveset Details: No egg moves. Depending on how much does the RP draw from PEFE / WAAPT, Poison Point is her confirmed Ability. Most proficent when using Water Pulse, Double Kick, Poison Sting. Knows moves that were available in their G1 movelist, most notably Skull Bash by TM. Is being sought a couple of move tutors for.

If the setting allows implementation of TCG features, Inka knows Stress Poison: works basically as a grapling move where she takes advantage of her poison points by clinging to the opponent and digging her claws on them then rubbing her arms and belly on the open wounds; thus it only really works on opponents much larger than herself.

#2 Name: Pokéteco
Species / Gender: Noctowl / ♂
Approximate Level: Late 30s.
Personality: Fairly observant, prone to point out mismatching things (like socks of the wrong colour), and likes being in a group and "blending" with the crowd. He is the mon who gets along the best with the others in the team.

Being Silent's first catch, he is well versed in standard issue Trainer-Pokémon relationship stuff, also is usually the one to introduce and help raise new members of the team, though it is made explicit that Eevee (below) is the exception to the rule.

Prefers to perch on static objects, so no perching on people's shoulders, though he may behave somewhat burly towards people who are being perched on, and likes to stay perched for as long as he can.

Bio: Is a wild caught mon. Is also the one to be sent out to the start of many battles because of his experience (larger than the rest of the team in relative terms) in identifying what moves or abilities an opposing Pokémon has. Not a Fly slave.

Moveset Details: Nothing particular outside of knowing a few TMs such as Double Team.

#3 Name: Tlimiz
Species / Gender: Eevee / ♂
Approximate Level: Very early 20s. Fairly undeveloped in battle.
Personality: Likes asking for attention, walking / strolling around, and listening to stories. Conscious of his personal space and somewhat of his value as an event mon as well. His standard greeting could be translated as "Hi, I'm an Eevee, you are supposed to brush my fur now."

Bio: Acquired as an event (be it a giveaway or as a reward or companion) and is the newest member in the team. Hasn't had the opportunity to have more "history" built around him as of yet. Has not thought of his eventual evolution. (Meta-wise, if evolving, will turn into either a Umbreon or Flareon)

Moveset Details: Ability unconfirmed. Is being raised and taught some things by Makenna (below) so that he can be taught some TMs.

#4 Name: Makenna
Species / Gender: Houndoom / ♀
Approximate Level: Late 40s.
Personality: Responsible and dutiful. Bossy in capital letters. Believes herself to be the team leader, justifiedly to a point. Is grasping, from Silent and from the battles she has, the threshold when to stop analyzing and start responding both in and out of battle.

Likes to try and read human body language so that she can find clues to get on people's good sides (and get a nice steak along with it).

Bio: Was caught as a Houndour♀ fairly late during Silent's Trainer's Leave when her pack spread over a very large Schröedinger's City and the various members got lost. Quickly grew to become the walk-along of the team and worked to become a responsible battler.

After she evolved she started conflicting with Inka a lot, verbally or physically, and they tend to openly fight over the position of team leader. However Makenna is very respectful of a couple of aspects about Inka, mainly that she gets up early on her own accord.

Is the most agile and battle-eager member of the team but dislikes fighting some kinds of foes, in particular Steel types.

Movelist Details: Fairly experienced in usage of Smog and Fire Fang. Her Ability is Early Bird.

If the setting allows implementation of TCG features, Makenna knows Plunder: interpreted as a variant of Taunt / Torment (need to look for a synonym that begins with 'T'). Essentially it is a move that works like Knock Off, but at a distance (no need for contact) and without causing "damage" - Makenna will start goading her opponent into discarding whatever item they are carrying / wearing. Possible justification for it would be as a strategy her pack picked to try and survive in the city before they got lost by scaring some other mons into dropping their food and loot, Silent would have happened to pick up that Makenna knew it.

Re: ITT: We Are All in a Pokécenter - Interest and Signups

Vance

* Name: Vance
** Gender male
** Age: 10
** Origin: Hoenn
** Appearance: Blond-haired, freckly skin, orange eyes; likes wearing orange and tan jackets, with perpetually dusty white pants.
** Bio: Vance is a very new trainer, just starting his leave. His parents made some wise decisions with their money, enabling them to support him well; wanting him to have the most fulfilling journey possible, they gave him a Magikarp as a starter so he can learn the virtue of delayed gratification early.

Mons

* Name: Nibble
** Species: Magikarp
** Gender: Male
** Approximate Level: 10
** Personality: "I swear to Arceus when I evolve I'm gonna kill you all." Nibble is well aware of the low standing his species has in most's eyes, making him somewhat self-conscious. A propensity to talk tough hides a fish who is undyingly grateful to have been spared a short life as Pidgeotto food.
** Bio: Vance's starter, spawned among hundreds of siblings in the city pond, most of which became food for hawk mons. He eagerly went along with the boy who reeled him in, unsure whether humans ate Magikarp or not, but at least guaranteed to see a little more of the world before he died.

* Name: Rudolph
** Species: Nosepass
** Gender: Female(!)
** Approximate Level: 10
** Personality: "Oooh, What's up there?" Rudolph is a Nosepass with a strong sense of direction. There are so many to choose from! She likes to map a new location through detailed exploring, and loves climbing metal girders and ductwork vis magnetic coupling.
** Bio: Caught at full health by Vance in an early trip to Granite Cave, so that Nibble wouldn't have to Struggle through battles alone. He doesn't know that Nosepass can be female, and she doesn't know Rudolph is a masculine name.

Sanity is precious; use it sparingly.

Re: ITT: We Are All in a Pokécenter - Interest and Signups

Changed the pic in my signup to an actual description... Apparently using any sort of CC pic is a no-no on other forums, and while I think it's rather elitist and know we aren't that strict, it still bothers me... Heck, not sure if comparing him to other fictional characters is allowed...

Re: ITT: We Are All in a Pokécenter - Interest and Signups

It's not a no-no, except probably in Serebii (yeah… ›.›) but it is heavily frowned upon, since the signup is where you have to prove the GM and the forum board that you can write and work well enough – it's a written medium after all. And some RPs, unfortunately, explicitly ask for a heavy written description accompanied by a freudian study on your character, instead of something actually useful, such as a RPing sample for style check.

For the record, after a quick check: CoD has no such requirements, they have no strong requirement in any signup section except for "don't make a Mary Sue"; Pokécommunity etiquette rules is that a written description of the character is required and must not be a no-work, no-information section (eg.: "Tobi is a good boy", "Tobi has Madara's hair", "Tobi has oddly colored eyes"), but each individual GM is free to allow or deny pictures.

Re: ITT: We Are All in a Pokécenter - Interest and Signups

@ Jeff and Company

Looking good. And nice to finally get to know the names of your Marshtomp + Mightyena. And your human char might wind up giving one of my signups a bit of a surprise. :P

@ Silent and Company

I really like where you're going with this, though kindly ask that any championing remain firmly theoretical. You are also free to use your TCG moves IRP, just get the okay from your opponents before any battles so as to cut down on "Wait a minute, what move is that?!" moments.

@ Vance and Company

He sounds adorable, as do Nibble and Rudolf. And I commend you with your daring in shooting for a "fresh meat" character. Welcome aboard.

I will throw my own signup within the next 36 hours when I have the time. If there's no further signups or otherwise comments between now and then, I'll tack it onto this reply here.

13

Re: ITT: We Are All in a Pokécenter - Interest and Signups

Okay, "firmly theoretical" it is. It would most likely not come out in normal conversation anyway.

And of course the new moves will be used with okay from the meta.

Re: ITT: We Are All in a Pokécenter - Interest and Signups

Captain Robert Hawkes

"Hello, I'm Captain Hawkes… Well, not really, I mean… it's complicated!"

Gender: Male

Age: 16
Origin: Blackthorn City.

Bio: Robert is a tall boy, with shaggy black hair and bright blue eyes. He has long, lanky limbs, which he still has not quite gained mastery of, leading him to become rather clumsy. He is very pale, and has a few freckles across his nose. He wears a black cap nearly always, as well as jeans and a plain blue shirt. He always takes care that his appearance is in order. While he is very affectionate with James, his first Pokemon, he is rather formal and awkward around Socium.
Robert acts very formally (or tries to) and rather awkwardly with strangers, generally uncomfortable around them. He is quick to warm up to people, though, and is very warm to his friends.
Robert's family, generations and generations ago, were once a prominent family in Kanto's army, and specialized in Dragon types. While they no longer have any military connections or ranks or anything, they are very proud of their heritage and give their children "ranks" when they turn 15 and are given their first Dragon type Pokemon. Before this, the Hawkes children (including Robert) spend their time learning about the Dragon type specifically, besides normal schooling, and will occasionally befriend another Pokemon.

James

"I'll stick by him as long as he'll stick by me--and then afterwards!"

Species: Vulpix
Gender: Male

Approximate Level: 55-ish
Personality: James is an incredibly loyal Pokemon. He is rarely seen away from Robert's side, and is very protective of him. He tries to make everyone comfortable and welcome, and is friendly and generous to everyone--so long as it doesn't interfere with his devotion to Robert.
Bio: James was given to Robert as an egg by a friend as a present for his thirteenth birthday, and has been by his side since he hatched.

Socium

"Whoa! How do I do that?"

Species: Shelgon
Gender: Male
Approximate Level: 30

Personality: Socium is eager to please and perpetually curious and wants to learn how to use every move he sees--including the ones he can't actually use. He always tries his best in whatever he's asked to do, and is friendly to everyone around him.
Bio: Socium's parents were the partners to Robert's parents, and--as hung up on the past as his parents--always impressed on him, before he had ever met Robert, how important it was to serve honorably and well.

Note: If the backstory is not great, I can just delete it completely. It was an attempt meant to make a character meant for a different world fit into Pokemon.

Re: ITT: We Are All in a Pokécenter - Interest and Signups

Mezzoforte Morendo

*Name: Forte
*Gender: Male
*Age: 11
*Hometown: Castelia City, Unova
*Appearance: A young boy with short naturally blue hair and yellow eyes. He tends to wear simple outfits such as T-shirts and shorts.
*Bio: Mezzoforte, or Forte for short, comes from a family of single type specialists. He continues the family tradition in a way, except that his type of choice is "Eevee". He is a fan of all things relating to Eevee and Eeveelutions. He started his journey by receiving an Eevee from his older brother, and bred it with his parents' Ditto to have enough for a full set of Eeveelutions. Forte is kind at heart, but is often brash, impulsive, and impatient. He feels a strong need to prove himself due to feeling that he is overshadowed by his siblings.

Mons

Icicle the Glaceon♂
Approximate Level:  Mid-40s, high enough to know Blizzard in B/W2
Bio: Forte's starter and the father of the rest of the team. He was brought from Sinnoh by Forte's brother, who is an Ice specialist. He's surprisingly childish for a father of six, and while he is supposed to be the team leader, he'd rather just be playing in the snow. He obsesses over snow and cold.
Moveset Details: His ability is Snow Cloak. TMs known include Shadow Ball and Hidden Power (Grass).

Shadow the Espeon♂
Approximate Level: Early 30s
Bio: The oldest of Icicle's children. He is calm and analytic in any situation, though he tends to think cynically. He tends to sit back and let others call the shots while he focuses his mind toward a particular task. He can speak to Forte and other humans using telepathy, allowing him to translate for the rest of the team.
Moveset Details: His ability is Synchronize. TMs known include Shadow Ball (it's got his name in it, after all), Psychic, and Hidden Power (Steel).

Fireball the Flareon♂
Approximate Level: Mid 20s
Bio: The second oldest of the kids. He is playful, energetic, and likes to prove himself in battles. He and Electro are particularly friendly toward each other, since they have similar personalities.
Moveset Details: His ability is Flash Fire.

Marine the Vaporeon♂
Approximate Level: Mid 20s
Bio: The third oldest sibling. He has a laid-back, relaxed personality, and likes to sleep. He tends to act as the voice of reason to his family, particularly when Shadow isn't around.
Moveset Details: His ability is Water Absorb. He also knows Surf, and uses it for both transit and battles.

Leaflet the Leafeon♂
Approximate Level: Early 20s
Bio: The third youngest sibling. He is shy and insecure about himself. He hates the cold, which makes him fear he'll never be good enough for his dad due to the latter's snow obsession. He likes to relax in the sun instead.
Moveset Details: His ability is Leaf Guard.

Electro the Jolteon♀
Approximate Level: Late teens
Bio: The second youngest sibling, and the only female among the whole team. She is playful and energetic, much like Fireball. She loves to chase things around, particularly bright and sparkly ones. Her vaguely masculine name and tomboyish demeanor have caused many peoplemons to mistake her for a male.
Moveset Details: Her ability is Volt Absorb. Known TMs include Shadow Ball and Hidden Power (Grass).

Sunny the Eevee♂
Approximate Level: Early teens
Bio: The youngest of Icicle's children, and the only one who hasn't evolved yet. He has a cheerful and optimistic demeanor, fitting his name. He is also a romantic who strongly believes in the power of love. He is planned to evolve into an Umbreon. He is currently boxed; Forte is a bit concerned about not leaving him behind when training the rest of the team, but isn't sure how to make it fit with the official league limit of six.
Moveset Details: His ability is Adaptability.

I'm not really sure why I decided to sign up Forte for this, but there it is. And I know this is breaking the six mon limit, but I'm not sure how I'm going to work that in either.

Re: ITT: We Are All in a Pokécenter - Interest and Signups

@ Robert and Company

The backstory seems perfectly cromulent to me, Crewe. And it looks like it would make for some interesting yarns and an interesting worldview. Welcome aboard.

@ Forte and Company

I like the level of detail you've put into your signup. Also, note, it's not 6 mons total. It's just 6 mons in your initial intro. Simply introduce any mons you want to affirm as being in your possession somewhere down the road after your OP. (Before their first onscreen appearance, please.)

As such, I will accept your Forte with all of your non-boxed mons. From what I can see, Eevee!Sunny looks fine (and adorable), just copypasta his intro into a separate discussion post whenever you're ready to bring him onscreen after your OP. (This isn't to be a jerk or anything, just to set a precedent of not being completely waffly on the rules.)

And Now For Something Completely Different

And, since I made a commitment to have an OP up sometime before 12:00 AM PST, Saturday, here's my signup as a GM.

These aren't necessarily the only characters my PC will have in his possession, but they're the ones that I was certain that I wanted to start out with.

SpitefulMurkrow's Player Character

Name - "Tracer". No, that's not his real name, that's what I'm using anyways, though.
Gender - Male
Age - Your average college student, 18-22
Origin - Lassoh Undecided for now, though not a Kanto native. The important part is that he's in Kanto for the time being.
Bio - Your basic, average overworked undergrad student attempting to juggle Pokemon along with life. Specifically a Computer Science major with a minor in Nutritional Toxicology at Schrödinger U in Kanto. It's a bit nerve-wracking at times, and Tracer occasionally regrets biting off so much workload-wise, but hey, it's an excuse to be able to study about Pokemon while learning programming skills. A bit of a gamer, which rubs off a bit onto his mons.

He's not a complete slouch at battle, but said competence kinda mostly came after that part of life that's typically devoted for sinking a few months into trying to take on the local League. As such, Tracer won't be making it to any Elite Fours anytime soon. Given that his Trainer's Leave was primarily spent playing video games, it's really somewhat of a miracle that he even has a Surf HM.

[spoiler]I kinda have a tendency to write who I know for human PCs, so that bio actually isn't all that far from my real life situation.

Mons

[spoiler]And this is where things get more interesting character-wise.

Lyle

"I'm not a thief... We've been over this before! If I can take it from you, it's rightfully mine!" ^_^

Species: Quilava
Gender: Male
Approximate Level: Low 30s.
Personality: Loyal and jovial, but a troublemaker. Won't pass up the chance to give some good-natured teasing to another mon and has some rather sticky paws. He'll apologize if his antics legitimately mess something up, but he's still got a long way to go before he's ready to be a role model for anyone.
Bio: Tracer's starter from Lassoh Schrödinger's Region. Has been rolling around for the better part of a decade now. Someday, he'll turn into a burning wolverine, though his trainer hopes that it will be sometime after he gets out of college.

His battle ability is Overheat, as for moves beyond his normal range, he currently rocks a Flamethrower TM, even if he'd prefer Fire Blast. He can recognize more common words in human script thanks to about a decade of practice, but don't expect him to be finishing any books beyond the level of "The Very Hungry Caterpie"!

Audrey

I never said which of my characters would be surprised, Sixth. o3o

"Being able to use the C-Stick and L button at the same time is so a perfectly good reason for wanting a Psychic TM!"

Species: Lucario
Gender: Female
Approximate Level: High 20s - Low 30s.
Personality: Squishy wizard and proud of it. Had a phase when younger in which she was very sensitive about struggling with melee techniques, and won't hesitate to attempt thrash you if you're being exceptionally irritable about it. Has a limited tolerance for stupidity... Or frustrating things... Or you know, things that impatient entities have trouble tolerating, but all in all, well-meaning. Has a habit of psychic/empathic eavesdropping / alarm clockery to show off, though her abilities with Aura and related paranormal phenomena still have plenty of room for improvement. She's a bit of a flirt around other Lucario, though hasn't been too serious about it... Yet.
Bio: Tracer's empathic metal wolf... And resident self-appointed queen of games. Has immense potential for what we'd call "Special Attacks" and has been picking up pretty fast on perfecting them... "Physical Attacks" er... Not so much... But psychic abilities and the like are more practical anyways! She can pass (somewhat muddled) empathic communiques intelligible to humans, and has sufficient reading proficiency to be able to survive a text-heavy RPG with a bit of trial and error.

Her ability is Steadfast. As the character quote suggests, she knows Psychic, though has lightened up on pressuring Tracer for more TMs in favor of "borrowing" games from her trainer's backlog while he's busy.

Kat

"It's said that 'You can lead a man to knowledge, but you can't make him think'. Whoever said that clearly never gave the numbskull a good swat to the head!"

Species: Marowak
Gender: Female
Approximate Level: Low 30s.
Personality: The resident team hot-head, and somewhat bossy... And yet, the closest thing the team has on-hand to a Team Mom. Is more than a little short-tempered and prefers to think with Bonemerangs, if you need someone on the team to babysit or a shoulder to cry on, she's probably your safest bet.
Bio: A mon that was recruited onto the team way back in the day through a trade, which as luck would have had it, involved a Kantoan trainer. Joined her original trainer as a duty to her group in the wild (which will be henceforth referred to as a "tribe") as a gatherer of lore from the world beyond. She may or may not have had a role in influencing Tracer's choice of university. (Marowak may be short, but they can be rather pushy... And hit like a truck.) Occasionally drags Tracer back to her tribe grounds offscreen in order to pay a visit to her relatives, both in this life in the next.

Her ability is Rock Head. She knows Swords Dance, but hasn't talked her tribe into letting her cart away part of her deceased relations for a Thick Club, and isn't terribly fond of the idea of using someone else's that may or may not have been stolen off of a random Cubone. Not literate, and doesn't really have an interest in her trainer's gaming habit... Or at least not in playing them. She does occasionally work a few emulated techniques into her fighting style (mostly derived from wielders of long blunt or otherwise pointy objects).

Erich

"... You humans need to make your machines less confusing... And more durable."

Species: Archen
Gender: Male
Approximate Level: High 20s, enough to know Acrobatics. (So 28 or 29.)
Personality: Curious about everything and Lyle's partner in crime for his antics. Doesn't really "get" many things about the modern world, like why you're supposed to let a mon get up and go home after defeating them, why that thin box plugged into the wall has people and Pokemon living in it, or why you can't put dishes into the "Washing" Machine. Can be a little cocky about being able to drop giant centipedes without really trying at times, but is generally a good sport.
Bio: The result of Tracer's internship with Schrödinger's Fossil Laboratory, he's on the team as a test subject, though has become increasingly integrated into the fold. Someday Tracer will finish up the mountain of red tape and paperwork needed to formally make him his own.

His ability is the only ability that Archen are presently known to have: Defeatist. He's not a wuss, just doesn't see the point in sticking out battles when his instincts are screaming "lure your opponent into an ambush and let your friends handle him". He knows U-Turn via TM, and Tracer's been looking into seeing just what *else* he can learn, but eh. Budgets. Still has trouble wrapping his head around the idea of the "video" part of a video game, so he's mostly a spectator. As you can imagine, he's not literate either.

Teala

"My... My biggest dream? It would be that even someone like me can be useful to someone else. I want to live being proud of myself."

Species: Druddigon
Gender: Female
Approximate Level: Around 30.
Personality: A bit of a klutz, which kinda led to a couple epic fails at the whole "patrolling this shrine to the gods" thing. She occasionally grapples with insecurities regarding her past there, though for the most part focuses on trying to find someplace where she "fits" and is the best like no one ever was. She's a lot more amiable than she looks. Really, if you want a better gauge of her feelings at the moment, try dimming the lights a little so that she can relax those low-light adapted eyes out of that trademark species glare.
Bio: A Druddigon of Dragonspiral Tower stock, she's decent enough at battling, as for guarding... Uh... Well... She's wasn't exactly top percentage... Or middle percentage, for that matter. Wound up joining the team during field work for a summer zoopsychology internship. Was the subject of one of Tracer's recent projects for his Nutritional Toxicology courses, which was a bit of a morale boost.

Her battle ability is Rough Skin and she's Tracer's on-team Surf user. Though as you can imagine, after the first attempt, Tracer has settled for hanging on via a tow cable and getting a little wet whenever surfing with her, because that's preferable to some nasty scrapes. You can't exactly call her literate, though she can make her way through most games through a combination of trial and error, pattern matching, and help from Audrey. Tracer's more or less given up on his gaming controllers and handhelds ever having a decent resale value and just settled with putting up with a few scuffs and allowing her to enjoy the hobby that she's taken a liking to since joining the team

Re: ITT: We Are All in a Pokécenter - Interest and Signups

Glad that [Sunny the Eevee♂] can make it in! Tlimiz will have many friends! I'm not sure if he ending up more romantic like Sunny would be a good thing or a good thing~  ^.^

And good to see your signup, Tracer. Interesting to see a Lassoh another off-canon region character. Lol @ Audrey "borrowing" games. And d'awwwww @ Teala, I wonder how we'll cheer her up in this universe? :3

Also I can imagine Makenna will have quite some interest in getting some 'splaining done from some of your team members.

Re: ITT: We Are All in a Pokécenter - Interest and Signups

Andrew Cessus

Name:Andrew Cessus
Gender:Male
Age:17
Origin:Ever Grande City, Hoenn

Andrew is an aspiring inventor from Hoenn. He has black hair, and wears glasses that can expand to form goggles(the type chemists and woodworkers use). He is always trying to think of something new to invent. Unfortunately for him, his works, such as the goggles/glasses he wears, are usually never very successful. They're either poor sellers, or rejected by companies. Since he doesn't always have ideas for an invention, he does Pokemon training on the side.

Mons
Helena

Species:Froslass
Gender:Female
Approximate Level:50-ish
Personality:Relatively level headed. Can get a bit out of control when she gets very angry.
Bio:Andrew's starter, she's the mon Andrew's closest to. He considers her to be like a sister to him. She was found by Andrew when he went to Mossdeep with his parents to visit the Space Center. He found her playing around the white rocks of the area, and she began to follow him around. After much pleading to his parents, Andrew was allowed to take her with him.

Clockwork

Species:Klinklang
Gender:Genderless, but identifies as male
Approximate Level: 53-ish
Personality:Determinator, though is a bit reckless at times.
Bio: Andrew found Clockwork while trekking through Chargestone cave for a Thunderstone. Due to Andrew tripping on a rock, Clockwork ended up getting stuck on Andrew's backpack. During this time, Clockwork served as Andrew's motivation to keep searching, though it did annoy him after a while. Clockwork was the inspiration for one of Andrew's inventions, a multidirectional spinning Klinklang chair. Due to safety issues, this was never pitched.

Re: ITT: We Are All in a Pokécenter - Interest and Signups

@ Andrew and Company

You technically jumped the gun by about a minute or so, but that's my fault for not signing you off sooner. I like what I see, Straw. Welcome aboard.

Re: ITT: We Are All in a Pokécenter - Interest and Signups

Retroactively welcome, Straw :-p

Re: ITT: We Are All in a Pokécenter - Interest and Signups

Amanda [last name withheld]

Basic Bio: Amanda is a young woman, late teens or young twenties.

Origin: Kantonian, specifically Vermilion City

Appearance: Medium height, dyes her hair a bright yellow but wears it short, for reasons that should become apparent. Wears light clothing, usually in various shades of yellow and grey.

Team

Spark the Electrode

Approx level: 40-50

Spark feels that the only excuse for not moving is death, and even that is questionable. Ghosts exist for a *reason*, peoplemons! While it wouldn't hurt a stranger, mons from its team have learned to sleep only when balled. Has a tendency to be abrasive, but does its best to be pleasant overall.

Spark is Amanda's starter, but was caught as a wild mon.

Curiosity the Shinx

Approx level: 20-30 (but unevolved for cuteness purposes)

Male

Curiousity lives up to his name, preferring to explore rather than...well, anything, really. He particularly likes exploring places where he really shouldn't be, and is banned from the Blackthorn Center due to an incident with the generator. Outgoing and gregarious, but likes to try and get others involved in his expeditions.

Cumulus the Mareep

Approx level: 20-30 (likewise unevolved)

Female

Cumulus is rather retiring, and often curls up in her woolly coat to avoid dealing with others. She'll fight when forced, but even then prefers a simple paralysis to actual combat. Friendly, but hard to engage.

@ Amanda and Company

Oh dear @ Curiousity. :P

But more seriously, I like. Welcome aboard, Every.

I think this is the kind of cat Curiosity is~

Re: ITT: We Are All in a Pokécenter - Interest and Signups

Okay, so I'm not sure if or when I'm going to introduce him, but I figure I can at least get his signup sheet posted here.

Pianissimo Morendo

*Name: Pianis
*Gender: Male
*Age: 17
*Hometown: Originally from Unova, but current residence is Snowpoint City, Sinnoh
*Appearance: A tall, slender teenage boy with waist-length naturally blue hair and green eyes. He is usually outfitted in cold weather gear, regardless of the weather outside. This isn't a fashion statement, but a necessity when training a team that makes snowstorms on demand.
*Bio: Pianissimo, or Pianis for short, is the oldest of four siblings, all with musical names. Forte is his younger brother. Coming from the same family of single type specialists, his type of choice is Ice. He originally found a Vanillite and Cryogonal in his native Unova, then left for Sinnoh after hearing of a Pokémon living there that causes hailstorms simply from its presence. While traveling there, he met the rest of his team. He also encountered a girl named Candice, who he later discovered was the Snowpoint City gym leader. He worked as a Gym Trainer in her gym for a while, but has since left, as he wanted to see new places. Pianis is mostly a laid-back and aloof person. He tends to take things in stride and does not like being the center of attention. He is also very practical-minded, hence his choice in attire. He prefers triple battles, and his team is optimized to fighting in them.

Mons

Moveset Details: All of them know Hail and Blizzard by TM, if they don't have it naturally.

Yukikaze the Vanilluxe♂
Approximate Level: Mid 60s
Pianis' first Pokémon, originally met in Castelia City where he was mistaken for a Casteliacone. His two heads act as one. He is usually laid-back, much like his trainer, but gets anxious around heat, due to an unfortunate incident in his past caused by a Houndoom belonging to Pianis' sister.
Moveset Details: His ability is Ice Body. Knows Flash Cannon by TM.

Crystallux the Cryogonal
Approximate Level: Low 60s
A Cryogonal that Pianis caught after a long search through Twist Mountain. It speaks in an emotionless, analytic tone, usually offers its thoughts on the situation in the form of percentages, and it always seems to know more than it lets on.
Moveset Details: Its ability is Levitate.

Icecap the Abomasnow♀
Approximate level: Mid 50s
The mon that Pianis came to Sinnoh to search for. As one of the key elements of the team, she thinks of herself as a mother to the other members. She has a habit of referring to peoplemons as "darling", regardless of who they are.
Moveset Details: Her ability is Snow Warning, naturally. Knows Focus Blast by TM.

Shiva the Froslass♀
Approximate level: Low 50s
Originally a Snorunt that Pianis caught at around the same time as Icecap. She is always polite to everyone she meets, though she does not approve of rude peoplemons. She and Icecap get along well, since both value being kind to others.
Moveset Details: Her ability is Snow Cloak. TMs known include Shadow Ball, Thunderbolt, and Psychic.

Sparkplug the Frost Rotom
Approximate level: Mid 40s
A Rotom that Pianis met when spending a night in the Old Chateau. It followed him outside, apparently out of some attachment to Crystallux. Pianis had originally planned to release it, but found it could become Ice type by possessing a refrigerator and decided to keep it along. It identifies itself as male and Crystallux as female, and appears to have a crush on Crystallux. Crystallux refuses to comment on this situation.
Moveset Details: Its ability is Levitate. The only member of the team that doesn't know Hail, as it can't learn it. Known TMs include Shadow Ball and Thunderbolt.

Boreas the Dewgong♂
Approximate level: Low 40s
A Dewgong that Pianis caught in order to cross water, as well as to have a counter to Fire types. He loves to explore new places and swim around.
Moveset Details: His ability is Hydration. Knows Surf by HM.
