@ Robert and Company
The backstory seems perfectly cromulent to me, Crewe. And it looks like it would make for some interesting yarns and an interesting worldview. Welcome aboard.
@ Forte and Company
I like the level of detail you've put into your signup. Also, note, it's not 6 mons total. It's just 6 mons in your initial intro. Simply introduce any mons you want to affirm as being in your possession somewhere down the road after your OP. (Before their first onscreen appearance, please.)
As such, I will accept your Forte with all of your non-boxed mons. From what I can see, Eevee!Sunny looks fine (and adorable), just copypasta his intro into a separate discussion post whenever you're ready to bring him onscreen after your OP. (This isn't to be a jerk or anything, just to set a precedent of not being completely waffly on the rules.)
And Now For Something Completely Different
And, since I made a commitment to have an OP up sometime before 12:00 AM PST, Saturday, here's my signup as a GM.
These aren't necessarily the only characters my PC will have in his possession, but they're the ones that I was certain that I wanted to start out with.
SpitefulMurkrow's Player Character
Name - "Tracer". No, that's not his real name, that's what I'm using anyways, though.
Gender - Male
Age - Your average college student, 18-22
Origin - Lassoh Undecided for now, though not a Kanto native. The important part is that he's in Kanto for the time being.
Bio - Your basic, average overworked undergrad student attempting to juggle Pokemon along with life. Specifically a Computer Science major with a minor in Nutritional Toxicology at Schrödinger U in Kanto. It's a bit nerve-wracking at times, and Tracer occasionally regrets biting off so much workload-wise, but hey, it's an excuse to be able to study about Pokemon while learning programming skills. A bit of a gamer, which rubs off a bit onto his mons.
He's not a complete slouch at battle, but said competence kinda mostly came after that part of life that's typically devoted for sinking a few months into trying to take on the local League. As such, Tracer won't be making it to any Elite Fours anytime soon. Given that his Trainer's Leave was primarily spent playing video games, it's really somewhat of a miracle that he even has a Surf HM.
[spoiler]I kinda have a tendency to write who I know for human PCs, so that bio actually isn't all that far from my real life situation.
Mons
[spoiler]And this is where things get more interesting character-wise.
Lyle
"I'm not a thief... We've been over this before! If I can take it from you, it's rightfully mine!" ^_^
Species: Quilava
Gender: Male
Approximate Level: Low 30s.
Personality: Loyal and jovial, but a troublemaker. Won't pass up the chance to give some good-natured teasing to another mon and has some rather sticky paws. He'll apologize if his antics legitimately mess something up, but he's still got a long way to go before he's ready to be a role model for anyone.
Bio: Tracer's starter from Lassoh Schrödinger's Region. Has been rolling around for the better part of a decade now. Someday, he'll turn into a burning wolverine, though his trainer hopes that it will be sometime after he gets out of college.
His battle ability is Overheat, as for moves beyond his normal range, he currently rocks a Flamethrower TM, even if he'd prefer Fire Blast. He can recognize more common words in human script thanks to about a decade of practice, but don't expect him to be finishing any books beyond the level of "The Very Hungry Caterpie"!
Audrey
I never said which of my characters would be surprised, Sixth. o3o
"Being able to use the C-Stick and L button at the same time is so a perfectly good reason for wanting a Psychic TM!"
Species: Lucario
Gender: Female
Approximate Level: High 20s - Low 30s.
Personality: Squishy wizard and proud of it. Had a phase when younger in which she was very sensitive about struggling with melee techniques, and won't hesitate to attempt thrash you if you're being exceptionally irritable about it. Has a limited tolerance for stupidity... Or frustrating things... Or you know, things that impatient entities have trouble tolerating, but all in all, well-meaning. Has a habit of psychic/empathic eavesdropping / alarm clockery to show off, though her abilities with Aura and related paranormal phenomena still have plenty of room for improvement. She's a bit of a flirt around other Lucario, though hasn't been too serious about it... Yet.
Bio: Tracer's empathic metal wolf... And resident self-appointed queen of games. Has immense potential for what we'd call "Special Attacks" and has been picking up pretty fast on perfecting them... "Physical Attacks" er... Not so much... But psychic abilities and the like are more practical anyways! She can pass (somewhat muddled) empathic communiques intelligible to humans, and has sufficient reading proficiency to be able to survive a text-heavy RPG with a bit of trial and error.
Her ability is Steadfast. As the character quote suggests, she knows Psychic, though has lightened up on pressuring Tracer for more TMs in favor of "borrowing" games from her trainer's backlog while he's busy.
Kat
"It's said that 'You can lead a man to knowledge, but you can't make him think'. Whoever said that clearly never gave the numbskull a good swat to the head!"
Species: Marowak
Gender: Female
Approximate Level: Low 30s.
Personality: The resident team hot-head, and somewhat bossy... And yet, the closest thing the team has on-hand to a Team Mom. Is more than a little short-tempered and prefers to think with Bonemerangs, if you need someone on the team to babysit or a shoulder to cry on, she's probably your safest bet.
Bio: A mon that was recruited onto the team way back in the day through a trade, which as luck would have had it, involved a Kantoan trainer. Joined her original trainer as a duty to her group in the wild (which will be henceforth referred to as a "tribe") as a gatherer of lore from the world beyond. She may or may not have had a role in influencing Tracer's choice of university. (Marowak may be short, but they can be rather pushy... And hit like a truck.) Occasionally drags Tracer back to her tribe grounds offscreen in order to pay a visit to her relatives, both in this life in the next.
Her ability is Rock Head. She knows Swords Dance, but hasn't talked her tribe into letting her cart away part of her deceased relations for a Thick Club, and isn't terribly fond of the idea of using someone else's that may or may not have been stolen off of a random Cubone. Not literate, and doesn't really have an interest in her trainer's gaming habit... Or at least not in playing them. She does occasionally work a few emulated techniques into her fighting style (mostly derived from wielders of long blunt or otherwise pointy objects).
Erich
"... You humans need to make your machines less confusing... And more durable."
Species: Archen
Gender: Male
Approximate Level: High 20s, enough to know Acrobatics. (So 28 or 29.)
Personality: Curious about everything and Lyle's partner in crime for his antics. Doesn't really "get" many things about the modern world, like why you're supposed to let a mon get up and go home after defeating them, why that thin box plugged into the wall has people and Pokemon living in it, or why you can't put dishes into the "Washing" Machine. Can be a little cocky about being able to drop giant centipedes without really trying at times, but is generally a good sport.
Bio: The result of Tracer's internship with Schrödinger's Fossil Laboratory, he's on the team as a test subject, though has become increasingly integrated into the fold. Someday Tracer will finish up the mountain of red tape and paperwork needed to formally make him his own.
His ability is the only ability that Archen are presently known to have: Defeatist. He's not a wuss, just doesn't see the point in sticking out battles when his instincts are screaming "lure your opponent into an ambush and let your friends handle him". He knows U-Turn via TM, and Tracer's been looking into seeing just what *else* he can learn, but eh. Budgets. Still has trouble wrapping his head around the idea of the "video" part of a video game, so he's mostly a spectator. As you can imagine, he's not literate either.
Teala
"My... My biggest dream? It would be that even someone like me can be useful to someone else. I want to live being proud of myself."
Species: Druddigon
Gender: Female
Approximate Level: Around 30.
Personality: A bit of a klutz, which kinda led to a couple epic fails at the whole "patrolling this shrine to the gods" thing. She occasionally grapples with insecurities regarding her past there, though for the most part focuses on trying to find someplace where she "fits" and is the best like no one ever was. She's a lot more amiable than she looks. Really, if you want a better gauge of her feelings at the moment, try dimming the lights a little so that she can relax those low-light adapted eyes out of that trademark species glare.
Bio: A Druddigon of Dragonspiral Tower stock, she's decent enough at battling, as for guarding... Uh... Well... She's wasn't exactly top percentage... Or middle percentage, for that matter. Wound up joining the team during field work for a summer zoopsychology internship. Was the subject of one of Tracer's recent projects for his Nutritional Toxicology courses, which was a bit of a morale boost.
Her battle ability is Rough Skin and she's Tracer's on-team Surf user. Though as you can imagine, after the first attempt, Tracer has settled for hanging on via a tow cable and getting a little wet whenever surfing with her, because that's preferable to some nasty scrapes. You can't exactly call her literate, though she can make her way through most games through a combination of trial and error, pattern matching, and help from Audrey. Tracer's more or less given up on his gaming controllers and handhelds ever having a decent resale value and just settled with putting up with a few scuffs and allowing her to enjoy the hobby that she's taken a liking to since joining the team
