Duke puts a hand on Lucius shoulder "I won't deny that you need to control your emotions better and be more open to reason, but Lucius, even if you do something stupid, it doesn't mean that nobody will care about what happens to you."
He then gives Lucius a curious look, though one with a hint of dread.
"I assume you know who was that woman?"
-Lucius nods, his voice dropping to a whisper again.-
Lucius: ...Sarah... it was Sarah. I went to her after I'd recovered. Tried to apologise for how I treated her. Then... then she told me...
-He trails off into silence. Despite having promised not to cry, he looks awfully close to doing so.-
Duke looked stunned by that revelation, but instead of commenting about it, he simply hugs Lucius from the side.
"That must've been an awful experience... I can't believe she would do something like that, but you wouldn't lie about something like that. I understand why you're like that now, but as hard as it must be for you to trust someone... I'm still here for you, all right? You're still my "little brother" so I just want to see you happy and doing well."
-Lucius flinches as Duke hugs him, looking distinctly uncomfortable.-
Lucius: I... t-thanks, Duke...
Duke then lets go of Lucius "Sorry. I always forget you don't need to be touched." he then manages a small smile "Say, do you want me to keep you company for a while? You always seem to be alone, so I thought this could help."
-Lucius still looks rather uncomfortable.-
Lucius: If you think it'd be best... don't see why you'd want to listen to a wretched jerk like me complain about problems he brought on himself, though...
"Above anything else you're still my friend. Your problems are also far from being small so I can understand why you'd be like that. Like I said, I just want to see you happy."
-Lucius sighs.-
Lucius: You're probably going to be disappointed, then... all I want to do at the moment is lie down and try to forget about everything that's happened over these last few days. No doubt I'll have to deal with all the fallout from my crimes as the Avenger, but that can wait... at least until I'm coherent enough to decide what to do with myself...
"That's fine, I can understand. You've gone through a lot, Lucius, some of those things being my fault, and I want to help you deal with all of it, even if I might not be of much help."
Duke sighs, but then gives Lucius a reassuring smile
"You can count on me to help you and I promise I won't abandon you."
-Lucius doesn't meet Duke's eyes.-
Lucius: ...You have no idea how badly I want to believe that...
"Then I suppose if you can't bring yourself to, I'll have to make you believe it by proving it."
Duke then gets up and offers Lucius a hand
"If you don't want to stay at the hotel in Cocona, where are you planning to stay? Another city?"
-Lucius takes Duke's hand and hauls himself to his feet, pausing for a moment to try and regain some composure, then shrugs.-
Lucius: I don't know... I would go back to the cave, but I get the feeling I'm not welcome there anymore...
"Hm... Well, I suppose we could go back to Pueltown. A cave doesn't sound particularly comfortable to me."
-Lucius raises an eyebrow slightly.-
Lucius: ...Didn't you grow up in one?
"The fact that I grew up in one doesn't change the fact that a bed is more comfortable than rocky ground." said Duke, chuckling.
Lucius: Our cave has beds, you know. I'm an outlaw vigilante - or was, at any rate - not some kind of barbarian.
-He sighs.-
Lucius: Still, I guess we'd be better off just heading back to Pueltown and getting a room there...
Duke shrugs "I wouldn't know, I never went there and I assumed you used the cave just as a hideout instead of actually living there." he pauses "All right, we just need a room with two beds then. I'll have to inform Lyuri of all this."
-Lucius groans and rests a hand on his forehead.-
Lucius: It's not as if it matters now, seeing as I've never going back there... and sure, you tell her whatever you need to tell her. Just don't expect me to room with her and we'll be fine...
-He sends out Maul, who dutifully blips the pair...-
-...here. Lucius promptly collapses face-down onto one of the room's beds.-
"I'm just going to tell her I'll be staying here, I'll be back soon."
Duke then heads out of the room and not too long after he does so, an Inkay floats over to Lucius
"<Hi! You're the cuddly mister!>" said Recette.
-Lucius turns his head to face Recette and gives the faintest of smiles, pulling her into a hug with one arm.-
Lucius: Yes, I am. And you're the cuddly Inkay.
Recette smiles "<Mr.Duke said you were sad and he said that I could help so I came here to make you happy again!>"
-Lucius' smile becomes rather mournful.-
Lucius: It's going to take more than just one little Inkay to manage that, I'm afraid... but you can tell Mr. Duke that I said thanks for the help.
-He gives a yawn and pulls his sheets over him.-
"<Aw... Okay, I will.>" she said, pouting, then noticing that Lucius was going to sleep "<Are you going to sleep? Can I sleep with you?>"
Lucius: Please do. I've spent too many nights sleeping alone these last few weeks...
-He closes his eyes and lets fatigue overtake him, still clinging to Recette as he slips into a restless sleep.-
"<Yayfications!>"
Recette then falls asleep alongside Lucius.
