-Lane ruffles Morgan's hair like he did so often.-
Lane:I would have forgotten to if Vivi hadn't ported Michael to me.
Morgi: Ready to go in?
Lane:As I'll ever be...
-He pushes open the door to a study, where their father sits.-
Arthur:Hm? Oh! Morgan, Lane, nice to see you two again.
Lane:It's good to see you two, dad.
Morgan: Hello dad.
-Diane and the kids follow Morgi.-
Nadia: <Hai grampa.>
-Lane hugs his father.-
Arthur:Oh? Ms. Millar, you're here too. Always a pleasure. So how have you all been?
Lane:Running the gym can get pretty hectic...but I'm managing. Maria sold a few more sketches.
-Morgi hugs Arthur.- I'm managing, dad. We've been getting a lot of summer vacationers at the Center. Things should calm down a bit soon. Diane's been such a help with the little ones.
-Nadia is sitting politely by Morgan, while Maddy is gravitating towards Dash, wearing a "are we done yet?" expression.-
Arthur:Always good to hear. You know, it took some doing to convince your mother that an official adoption was a good idea. I'm glad she was convinced, though.
Lane:Speaking of mother, where is she?
Arthur:She's upstairs.
-Hugo paw pats Maddy.-
Hugo:<Patience is a virtue.>
Morgi: I'm glad too, daddy. I can't thank you guys enough for taking me in.
-Maddy glares at Hugo.- <And silence is golden.>
Diane: -whispers- Madeline...
Maddy: -sighs- <Sorry, Hugo...>
Arthur:After the children explained everything, it was the least we could do, Morgan. So tell me, have you-clear throat- found anyone for you yet?
Lane:Is this a good time to ask that, dad?
Arthur:There is never a bad time to ask about one's love life, my boy. You were no slouch in that department, if I remember, eh lover boy?
-Arthur chuckles. Lane blushes.-
-Hugo pats Maddy again.-
Hugo:<Worry not. All is forgiven.>
-Morgi tries not to look at Dash as she speaks.- I'm afraid not, daddy.
-Diane busies herself with petting Madeline, who is clearly avoiding making eye contact with Morgi.-
-Lane coughs, sensing the tense atmosphere.-
Lane:Anyway, dad. We should be going soon. It was good to see you again. Mother is in the music room, correct?
-Arthur nods.-
Arthur:It was good seeing you again too, Lane...Morgan.
-Lane makes his way into the Foyer, looking a mite uncomfortable.-
-Morgi hugs Arthur again, then she and her group follow Lane.-
The Center's looking pretty relaxing right about now...
-Lane speaks in a hushed tone.-
Lane:Sorry sis...I forgot dad likes to ask about relationships...
-Morgi sighs.- Not your fault...
Lane:But...well, sis and I support you two. We always will.
-He hugs his little sister.-
I'm guessing...ya don't wanna see mom?
Morgi: We came this far. Might as well.
-Lane nods and leads the group upstairs to a room where a cello can be heard. He knocks, and the music stops.-
Marianne:Enter.
-He opens the door to address his mother.-
Lane:H-Hello again, mother...
Marianne:Lane...Morgan...Ms. Miller. How...plesent, to see you all.
Morgan: Hello, mother. We were in the neighborhood and we thought we would stop in. How are you?
Nadia: <Hai, gramma.>
-Marianne puffs out a breath.-
Marianne:Given my life's choices, I suppose I am...decent, to say the least.
-Lane cringes a little.-
Morgi: I guess it's up to me to keep this convo going... Your playing is certainly doing well.
-Marianne retains her stoic look.-
Marianne:I've missed five notes, but thank you. I'm surprised you haven't taken up an instrument, Morgan. Maria never did either, though. Lane?
Lane:Y-Yes, mother?
-He seems nervous even after gaining some semblence of approval from her.-
Marianne:How is your...rebel of a sister?
-Lane clams up.-
Morgi: I've tried, but I have no ear for music.
And I'd really rather not take up something that leads to me competing with you somehow...
Marianne:A pity, that. You seem like someone who would be quite...dexterous.
-Her steely gaze shifts back to her son.-
You didn't answer my question, Lane.
Lane:She's...she's been fine. Michael has been taking care of her...just fine.
Marianne:Good. I'd expect nothing less from my son-in-law.
Please don't ask if I've found a man...please don't ask if I've found a man...
Marianne:Is there anything else you needed?
-Lane shakes his head.-
Good. Now please leave, I have practice.
-She begins to play but stops.-
Remind me...have neither of you decided who to marry?
-And Lane backs up.-
Lane:Well, um...I was going to propose properly to Ashley...btu I haven't yet let's go!
-And he shuffles out of the room.-
Marianna:That boy needs to learn to take initiative.
