Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Elsewhere in Pueltown - 25/8/14

-The Excubitor shakes their leg free of Gekkobi's grip before gesturing to their Starmie. Maintaining the same eerie silence as its trainer, the Starmie blasts Gekkobi with a Hydro Pump, washing the glue away and sending the battered superhero flying into the low wall surrounding the edge of the roof.-

Excubitor: ...

Pueltown Hotel, Sarah's Room - 25/8/14

-Lucius' expression freezes, horrified.-

Lucius: They... they kidnapped you? That... you were there for three whole days, at their mercy... and I couldn't... I didn't...

Pueltown Hospital - 26/8/14

-Lucius folds his arms.-

Lucius: I wasn't telling you off. You're the balliest nine-year-old I know if your first instinct upon seeing two highly-trained hitmen is to lower your head and charge, and that deserves some credit. I'm just trying to make you understand the danger you were in.

Aline sighs, but then smiles "I know it was really risky and Papa and Mama told me a lot of times.

She then pauses for a moment, and smiles as she begins writing again

"Guess what? I'm going to become a comicbook writer!"

Sarah: Please don't feel like this is your fault...

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hotel, Sarah's Room - 25/8/14

Lucius: Of course it's my fault! Who knows what they could've done to you in those three days! They could've been blackmailing you, torturing you, or worse... and what was I doing? Nothing! Absolutely damn nothing! I was sitting through another one of those pointless therapy sessions, wasting my time dredging up the past, when you were the one that needed real help... I had to rely on the J-Team to save you, and from now on they're probably going to slaughter everybody in a silver suit that they see in return. All stuff I could've prevented. I'm useless. Worse than useless.

-He slumps down against the wall.-

Lucius: Some "knight in shining armour" I turned out to be... too concerned with my own stupid problems to even think about you...

Pueltown Hospital - 26/8/14

-Lucius raises an eyebrow a fraction of an inch.-

Lucius: Really? Good for you.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Elsewhere in Pueltown 25/8/14

-Gekkobi collides with the wall with a *thud*, and groans as he looks back to his opponents.  Using what little consciousness he has left he fumbles for a pokeball in an attempt to release his Natu and teleport to anywhere but here-

406

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Elsewhere in Pueltown - 25/8/14

-One of the Excubitors strides over to the fallen Gekkobi and kneels down in front of him, grabbing his wrist with a hand to keep him from grabbing a Pokeball. They raise their free hand to the side of their helmet, and after a moment a crackling, synthesised voice begins to emit from somewhere beneath their visor.-

Excubitor: Unknown vigilante. Threat level undetermined. Similarities in appearance and methodology suggest connection with subject "Shingeko". Correct?

407

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital - 26/8/14

Aline nods "I made a cover for a comicbook about Shingeko and everybody thought it was going to be an official comicbook when I put it on the internet! And Mr.Shingeko even approved of it!"

408

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Elsewhere in Pueltown - 25/8/14

-The hero raises his helmeted head to look at the two Excubitors.  Silently glad the visor covers the no doubt exhausted look on his face-

Gekkobi:  "...What do you want?"

409

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Elsewhere in Pueltown - 25/8/14

Excubitor: Cessation of your attempts at vigilantism. Do so and we will have no reason to pursue you in future. Refuse to do so and expect harsher retaliation. At present, we have elected to exercise restraint and leave you without permanent injury. Do not expect the same restraint should you encounter us again.

-With that, they press their baton against the now-soaking Gekkobi, the boosted surge of electricity likely shocking him into unconsciousness.-

Pueltown Hospital - 26/8/14

-Lucius scowls. It's difficult to tell if the expression is genuine or being exaggerated for comic effect.-

Lucius: Oh, I see. Of course he'd be the first of those glorified cosplayers to get fanart...

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Aline just sighs in mild amusement, then Sakura gets into the room

"Lucius? You were looking for me?" she asked

Aline then waves at Sakura, who waves back.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Elsewhere in Pueltown - 25/8/14

-Gekkobi jerks, then slumps to the ground as he passes out.  He probably won't wake up for a while-

412

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Elsewhere in Pueltown - 25/8/14

-When Gekkobi does stir, he'll find that the two Excubitors are long gone, with only the puddles left by the Starmie's Hydro Pump as proof that they were ever there in the first place.-

Pueltown Hospital - 26/8/14

-Lucius looks up immediately.-

Lucius: Yes, I was. We need to talk. Alone, if at all possible.

413

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

"Oh, sure then. See you later, Aline!"

Aline waves Lucius and Sakura goodbye and goes back to her laptop, Sakura then heads outside.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital - 26/8/14

-Lucius waves to Aline before following Sakura outside, glancing around to make sure that there's no risk of being overheard.-

Lucius: ...Listen, as far as I'm concerned, things just got serious. Or more serious than they already were, at any rate. Neo-Galactic are backed into a corner and they're lashing out. We're going to end up with a lot more incidents like this one on our hands before long, and not all of them are going to have happy endings. We need to take them down for good, and soon. Illusion too, if at all possible.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Sarah's Room -- August 25

-For the first time since returning from the raid, Sarah sits up and looks directly at Lucius-

Sarah: Lucius. Stop that. You needed those therapy sessions, whether you think you did or not. I'm alive, and I'm not even hurt. They did nothing to me. Stop worrying about what could have happened when nothing did.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hotel, Sarah's Room - 25/8/14

-Sarah's goldspeech seems to succeed in temporarily snapping Lucius out of his funk.-

Lucius: I... I'm sorry. I just should've been there to help, that's all... it seems like every time I make you a promise, I end up breaking it...

417

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Sarah's Room -- August 25th

-Sarah relaxes slightly, sighing and curling back up in bed-

Sarah: ...Even if you couldn't help then... well, you can help now, if you don't mind keeping me company tonight... My, uh, nightmares are back...

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital - 26/8/14

"Agreed. Blitz also got badly beaten by those guys, he probably fared just as well as you did, or actually probably a lot worse. I got lucky, because Divoom started dropping meteors on everything that was moving after Aline got hurt and forced those creepers to run. Of course, Aline still got hurt because of me and that just made everything completely personal." said Sakura, looking dead serious.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hotel, Sarah's Room - 25/8/14

Lucius: Of course they are...

-He sighs.-

Lucius: I... I don't think I'm the one you should be staying with tonight. Not after I've failed you so many times. You deserve someone better, like... hell, I dunno. "Anybody but me" would probably be a good place to start.

Pueltown Hospital - 26/8/14

Lucius: They got Gekkobi too? Dammit... I just hope they didn't hurt him too badly. We need all the help we can get if we're going to win this fight.

-He leans against the wall.-

Lucius: It's a fair bet to say that I've had more experience battling those Excubitor guys than anybody else in the group. We can't afford to underestimate them. They're one of the few things that can still manage to scare me... but they're human, just like anybody else, and they have weaknesses that we can exploit. Which is good news for us, since no doubt we're going to have to fight our way through a bunch of them in order to get to Titan himself.

"You have a plan, our might strategist?" said Sakura, in a slight attempt to brighten the mood.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital - 26/8/14

Lucius: I have part of a plan. Like, about twelve percent or so.

-He scratches his chin.-

Lucius: Their helmets can't see through smoke, so we can use that against them, and you've probably already figured out that those glue bombs of theirs are water-soluble. But the two biggest advantages they have are their teleporters and their Aura Jammers. If we were to bring in a mon with, say, Shadow Tag, and figured out some way to disrupt their Jammers... then they'd be nothing more than regular guys with glowsticks just waiting for a beating.

Sarah's Room

Sarah: Herby, you haven't failed me. Ever. Nobody could have stopped what happened from happening. Not you, not Ren, not Jason, nobody. It wasn't your fault. Please stop blaming yourself for everything...

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital - 26/8/14

"... They can't see through smoke? I guess I could've used the smoke bombs after all..." said Sakura, rolling her eyes "But Shadow Tag? That's going to be tricky, and I don't know how we could jam their Aura Jammers, though I suppose that's more of a problem for you than for the others."

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hotel, Sarah's Room - 25/8/14

Lucius: Who else am I supposed to blame? Illusion? Trust me, I'm already figuring out how best to get back at those assholes... but they're not the problem. They're a symptom, that's what they are. There's always going to be people like them, and I've already proven that I can't stop you from hurting you. It's up to you to find somebody who can.

-His gaze falls to the floor for a moment before he remembers something and reaches into his bag to produce a small package.-

Lucius: Here. I got this for you. It was supposed to be your birthday gift, but... you know how that turned out. Trust me, I'll do everything in my power to make sure something like this never happens again. And I'll start by taking down Illusion, and Neo-Galactic, and anybody else like them. It's only a temporary solution, sure... but it's all I can do at this point. Goodbye, Sarah.

-He turns and walks out of the room, letting the door swing shut behind him.-

Pueltown Hospital - 26/8/14

-Lucius nods.-

Lucius: Like I said, it's barely a concept at this point. Given what I've managed to do with Aura Jammers in the past, though, I might be able to find a way to block their signals... I'll get working on that the moment I get back to Rasp Cavern. Leave the planning stage of things to me. I'll make up for that disaster back in Fiore, I promise. All I need is for you to be ready to go when I give the word.
