Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital - 24/8/14 (Foolish young mortal.)

-A man in a hooded cloak steps into the hospital room, taking care to close the door behind him before slumping into one of the visitor's chairs. He pulls down his hood as he does, revealing himself to be none other than a very pale, worn and haggard-looking Titan.-

Titan: Good evening, Crewe.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital

-Crewe initially looks very confused and somewhat apprehensive as the stranger approaches, but as he sits down and reveals herself, her face lights up-

Crewe: Titan!

-she tilts her head, looking concerned-

Crewe: What's wrong, what happened?

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital - 24/8/14

-Titan gives a weak smile. Even the effort of moving his facial muscles seems to take a lot out of him.-

Titan: I could ask the same of you. If you had informed me about your hospitalisation rather than waiting for me to learn of it on my own initiative, I might've been able to visit sooner.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital

-Crewe rubs the back of her neck-

Crewe: I, um, had an issue with an ex-Cipher grunt. I sorta overdid it trying to protect Straw. Lucius already yelled at me for handling the whole thing really badly, so you don't have to.

-she looks somewhat sheepish-

Crewe: Sorry... I was unconscious for a few days right afterwards, and since then I guess I've been so bored I didn't even think of it. If it makes you feel any better, I haven't personally told any other J-Team members, either. Besides, you'd worry too much.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital - 24/8/14

Titan: Considering that you seem to find yourself in these situations on a semi-regular basis, Crewe, my concern is not that I worry too much but rather that I worry too little. Still, you are safe... and I am hardly in a state to be yelling at present.

-He sighs.-

Titan: Much like you, I am currently suffering from rather severe Aura Drain. I... overexerted myself in an altercation some two days previously. It was reckless and foolish of me. Were it not for Omega's tenacity, that mistake could have cost me dearly. As it stands, I am barely able to walk, let along fight or lead.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital

-Crewe frowns-

Crewe: Titan... maybe you should be in a hospital. Or at least a med bay somewhere. I mean, hospitals suck, like, a ton, and I wish I could break out without Tagg giving me at the very least a very stern look, but at the very least you should find, like, a bed or something.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital - 24/8/14

-Titan frowns.-

Titan: I can hardly book myself in at the front desk of this establishment as you are able to. That, and I already spent the majority of yesterday unconscious in my office. If I dedicate any more time to recuperating, I will seem like nothing more than a weak old man, unfit for leadership. As it stands, I have duties that are far more pressing than bedrest.

333

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital

-Crewe frowns-

Crewe: Um, I guess I should skip the whole bit about how your duties are probably like really evil and stuff, but maybe you should at least find some mon with Heal Pulse or something.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital - 24/8/14

Titan: A Heal Pulse would do nothing to improve my condition. I would require the mediations of a trained Auric in order to speed up my recovery, and there are no such individuals within the ranks of my own organisation.

-He rests his forehead against his hand.-

Titan: As for my duties... whilst I will concede that many of them are morally deplorable regardless of whatever good intentions may drive them, my current condition is a result of an attempt to protect Lucius from further harm. You will understand if I would rather not shelve such a matter.

Hey, is Crewe ambulatory yet?

-Crewe blinks-

Crewe: ... Really? How did he take that?

337

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital - 24/8/14

-Titan bows his head.-

Titan: ...He was not present, but I am forced to assume that he would be repulsed by my actions were he aware of them. I took it upon myself to attempt to eliminate a pair of corrupting influences that have been subjecting him to abuse and emotional manipulation ever since their time at Cipher. I failed. More than that, I allowed my emotions to consume me... I acted in a manner more befitting of the savage animal I had hoped to eliminate, and my abilities in combat suffered as a result.

-He hears his X-Transceiver go off and glances down at it.-

To: Mew

...I am unaware of the reasoning behind your decision to adopt the guise of a Legendary Pokemon as if attempting to fool me with some childish prank, but I can assure you that I find it distinctly unamusing.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital

-Crewe blinks-

Crewe: Um, Titan... if you really want to help Lucius, and if you ever want to make up with him... you probably shouldn't kill people on his behalf. Really. Even if it was his worst enemy, he'd never forgive you for that.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital - 24/8/14

-Titan gives a weary sigh.-

Titan: ...I am beyond his forgiveness already. No repentance on my behalf can repair the damage that my actions have inflicted upon him, or atone for the years of neglect that I have subjected him to... I am a monster in his eyes. Irredeemable. The only way I can help him now is to do what he cannot. I can stain my hands so that he is not forced to take the life of another ever again.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital

Crewe: Titan... Lucius is a stubborn idiot when he wants to be. Everyone knows that. But I think he can change his mind. It won't be easy, but if you really try, I think you can get him to forgive you. But you can't keep doing all this stuff. You can't kill people, you can't end the world, you can't do the general super villain stuff you keep doing. The more you convince yourself that he'll never forgive you so you might as well do bad stuff, the more he'll hate you for doing bad stuff. You have to break the cycle.

-she coughs-

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital - 24/8/14

-Silence fills the room for several moments.-

Titan: ...All I want is to give him a world where he can be free of further torment. A world where there would be no need for me to commit evil on his behalf. Is that too much to ask for?

342

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital

Crewe: ... Yes, it is.

-she sighs-

Crewe: Believe me, I wish there was a solution that would make the world perfect. But there isn't. There are so many people out there who want to make people suffer in the name of a perfect world. And it's wrong, Titan. You can't improve the world with crazy schemes and god complexes. You have to work at it from within. Be a better person, and you can make a better world. But no one will ever have no problems in their lives. You can't make Lucius's go away by killing people and doing bad things. You just have to be there for him when bad things happen, and try to help him help himself.

-Crewe coughs again, her voice tired-

343

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital - 24/8/14

Titan: ...Perhaps you are correct. There is truth in your words, certainly... it may be tempered by an idealistic optimism and the vagaries of emotion, but it warrants consideration nonetheless. If nothing else, it is advice worth taking for the sake of my children alone.

-He manages a small smile.-

Titan: Thank you, Crewe. As always, you are a source of great comfort to me during my times of uncertainty and doubt. You deserve a better father than I.

344

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital

-Crewe grins-

Crewe: 'Course I'm idealistic. If I wasn't, I would still be a bitch with a farm's worth of Pokemon beating up children for amusement instead of trying to save the world with the J-Team. It makes life better. Cynicism just makes you sad. Who wants to be sad all the time?

-she reaches over to touch his arm-

Crewe: Believe me, Titan, if I wanted a better father, I'd go find one.

345

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital - 24/8/14

-Titan places a cold-to-the-touch hand on Crewe's arm.-

Titan: Perhaps that ought to wait until you're capable of walking under your own power once again.

346

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital

-Crewe chuckles-

Crewe: Bah. I can make people come to me if I want. I have a Xatu who can teleport people all over the place from the Sky Pillar. Well, he's not mine, it's not like he has a ball or anything, but we're partners.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital

-Some time after his conversation with Duke, Blitz knocks on the door of Crewe's room and starts to walk in-

Blitz:  "Hey Crewe, how's it going?"

-He stops for a moment when he sees the man there-

348

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

-Crewe jumps as Blitz comes in, her hand closing around Titan's arm-

Crewe: Oh, uh, hi, Blitz.

-Titan, still clearly recognisable in spite of his dishevelled state, looks up suddenly upon seeing Blitz enter the room.-

Titan: ...Good evening. I assume that this boy is a friend of yours, Crewe?

350

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital

-Blitz gets a look at Titan's face, and mentally flashes back to the night he helped Shingeko with the raid.-

Blitz:  "Uh, good evening.  Didn't realize anyone else was here"

-to Crewe-  "I brought you some treats, thought you might want something besides hospital food today..."

-He's still standing by the door though-
