Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital - 21/8/14 (Search your feelings. You know it to be true.)

Lucius: So how come you didn't message, say, Bishop? He would've told me, and then I could've at least made an effort to hunt that bastard down rather than only arriving in time to save you and your family because the ineffable machinations of fate willed it. And seriously, he only had an Abra watching you? You could've taken it out with one hard knock, or simply used Pursuit whilst you were all Sneasel-y to follow it back to that basement and slashed Norton's throat before he had the chance to do anything.

-He pauses.-

Lucius: ...Not that I approve of the slashing of throats, either in this specific instance or just as a general thing.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital - I have no feelings.

-Crewe looks like she's on the verge of tears-

Crewe: I know I did it wrong, okay? I didn't think. I'm just a big idiot and I almost got Straw and Biton and Martin and Morana all killed because I was too stupid to do anything.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital - 21/8/14 (Then search mine instead.)

-Lucius sighs.-

Lucius: ...At least you acknowledge that you messed up, rather than acting as if your fear justifies everything. That's gotta count for something. I guess I should just be grateful that this whole fiasco didn't turn out worse. Much, much worse.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital - Ew!

-Crewe turns her head away to hide the few tears dripping down her face-

Crewe: I know.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital - 21/8/14 (What? No! Interpret that in a good way! A GOOD WAY!)

-There are several long seconds of awkward silence before Lucius speaks again.-

Lucius: ...Well, I'll leave you be. You're going to need a few days in bed to recover from your Aura Drain, and I'm not even supposed to be in here in the first place. Don't bother looking for me in Rasp Cavern from here on out, by the way. I'm currently staying... somewhere else.

-He stands up, then starts rummaging around in his bag before pulling out a bar of chocolate and a bunch of flowers.-

Lucius: I got you these, by the way. I figured you could do with some chocolate after that whole ordeal. As for the flowers... well, you're supposed to buy some of those for people who end up hospitalised. Or so I've heard. Anyway, I'll see you around. Or... not, I guess.

-Leaving the flowers and chocolate on the side table, he turns and clambers out through the window he came in through.-

281

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital - Creeper.

-Crewe slowly turns her head back to face him, looking at the chocolate and flowers-

Crewe: Lucius... Thank you. For everything. Really. Please don't disappear somewhere I'll never see you again.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Pueltown Hospital - 21/8/14 (Now you're just being rude.)

-Lucius pauses halfway out of the window.-

Lucius: ...If you need me, then you'll know where to find me.

-Beat.-

Lucius: Since, y'know, you have my number and everything. This is the third millennium. So you can just call. And ask. Simple, really.

-Another beat.-

Lucius: I'll be going now.

-And he's gone.-

Vien Forest - 22/8/14

-In a small clearing somewhere amongst the trees, a man with greying turquoise hair is sat beneath a SEP field, his masked Infernape starting small bush fires just outside the radius of invisibility.-

Omega: <...Remind me why we came here, again?>

Titan: I find this place to be a remarkable calming influence. A welcome retreat into isolation when the burden of my duties and those I am forced by necessity to associate with become too much to bear. In many ways, it reminds me of the forests surrounding Eterna in that respect.

Omega: <Ah yes, now I see. You're right... this place looks just as flammable, if not more so.>

283

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Vien Forest - 22/8/14

Meanwhile, a certain Lucario turned human is walking around the forest, letting out a yawn

"I suppose it's getting a bit late, I've been here for a while, Lyuri is probably looking around for me by now." he said to himself, then coming across a certain Infernape "... Hm?"

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Vien Forest - 22/8/14

-Omega looks up upon seeing Duke, cocking her head.-

Omega: <Oh, hello there. Have I met you before? I like to think I have a fairly good memory for faces. Anyone who survives a first encounter with me is generally worth remembering.>

-Hearing Omega prompts Titan to perform a quick scan for Auras in the area. When he senses who happens to be approaching, his usually impassive expression is quickly clouded by a dark shadow. He gets to his feet, the SEP field around him dissolving.-

Titan: ...An impressive coincidence. Of all the wild and savage creatures that could have disturbed my meditation, it would be the mutt that unwittingly stumbles across us.

285

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Vien Forest - 22/8/14

Duke blinks "Of all places, I never expected to meet you here. Life is full of little surprises I suppose." he said, looking relatively unfazed.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Vien Forest - 22/8/14

Titan: Indeed. Quite a fortuitous twist of fate, as it so happens. I was planning on having you hunted down like the dog you are once my more pressing business here in Almia was concluded. Now I have the chance to exact some measure of retribution without having to waste valuable time and resources doing so.

-He snaps his fingers, and a crackling Aura Sphere forms in his right hand.-

Titan: Anything in particular you would like me to pass on to your weak-willed handler before I have Omega subject you to the same pain that you inflicted upon my son?

Omega: <I don't know if it'll be quite the same pain. I'll take the time to cauterise his wounds afterwards. As is the professional way of doing things.>

287

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Vien Forest - 22/8/14

"Weak-willed you say... Well, I assume you're aware that trying to kill me, or close to it, here will lead to your son reacting... Less than well?" said Duke, still looking relatively unfazed.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Vien Forest - 22/8/14

-Titan scowls.-

Titan: Were the relationship between us not irrevocably damaged already, he would come to thank me for ridding him of the mutt that has done nothing but abuse and manipulate him for years on end. Do not be so ignorant to assume that I haven't had the pair of you monitored. You left Lucius on the brink of death and have persistently caused him both physical and emotional harm ever since. The only reason he continues to return to your side is because he is afraid of what you will do to him if he doesn't. Either your feral instincts have mistaken this fear for respect or you are deliberately taking advantage of a psychologically-scarred individual for your own gratification. Whatever happens to be the case, it will make little difference when your corpse is left too badly burnt for even dental records to identify.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Vien Forest - 22/8/14

"... Or it might be because everything that happened in Orre was due to your ex-boss corrupting me and turning me into a weapon and thus turning me evil. I'd expect a crime boss to at least know what Shadow Pokémon are. Also I never did anything to harm your son while in a normal state of mind, nor do I have any reason to. Besides, your son has already expressed respect towards me before and I've been inside his mind before as well as the reverse. I think I'd know what he thinks of me better than someone who is just watching from afar and has biased views of Pokémon in general and so would completely misinterpret everything."

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Vien Forest - 22/8/14

-Titan snarls.-

Titan: The depths of your delusion are astounding. You believe your own lies to the point where you can no longer recognise the truth in my words. I can almost understand how Lucius was convinced by your pitiful excuses. He may believe that you were not responsible for your own actions, but I have a closer understanding of the Shadowing process than most. It is not so simple a matter as turning a Pokemon "evil", as you purport to understand it in your ignorance. Rather, it brings out a Pokemon's baser instincts. Allows the subconscious mind to drive conscious action. Your actions were a reflection of attitudes you believed you could keep concealed, and yet you continue to deny this even when evidence abounds for it. Don't think I didn't hear the depraved fantasies you took delight in expressing to me, mutt. There are few things in this flawed and broken world of ours I find more despicable than one who refuses to accept responsibility for that which they brought about with their own hands.

-He turns to Omega.-

Titan: Omega, kill him. Quickly, if at all possible. Unlike our opponent, I am no sadist.

Omega: <A shame, really.>

-She fires a Flamethrower at Duke, the spread of the flames quickly setting the nearby foliage alight.-

291

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Vien Forest - 22/8/14

As soon as the order was given, Duke took off his armband and quickly used Extremespeed to dash out of the way and onto a nearby tree.

"<Humans aren't very different themselves. If someone is left cornered, their survival instinct will make them do everything in their power to survive. Not only that, but the process of making a Shadow Pokémon involves torturing the subject. If you forced a human to revert to basic instinct and tortured it into your personal assassin, you would get pretty much the same result. I have taken responsability for everything that happened to your son and he forgave me for it, I still am on his debt, but I haven't had much in the way of methods of paying him back. You think you know anything about us, but you just see what you want to see.>"

He then glances at the flames from the branch he was on.

"<... I see you're not going to hold back, but I don't want to see this forest being burned to the ground, so I won't fight you. Not now.>"

292

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Vien Forest - 22/8/14

Titan: Then flee like the coward you are, mutt. It makes no difference. Both you and this forest will soon be reduced to ash.

-He fires the Aura Sphere he's been charging at Duke as Omega douses the area with a Heat Wave.-

Titan: You have demonstrated formidable martial prowess in the past. A shame you only see fit to unleash this ability upon those who cannot defend themselves from it.

293

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Vien Forest - 22/8/14

Duke quickly hides behind the tree so that the Aura Sphere couldn't hit him. He then moves away from the flames around him after that's done.

"<You call me a coward when you're going after me two-on-one? I see you have a tendency for hypocrisy.>"

294

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Vien Forest - 22/8/14

Titan: Animals cannot understand the concepts of honour or martial pride. They are hunters, concerned only with the destruction of their prey through application of natural savagery... as you have so aptly demonstrated time and time again. I see no reason to attempt to enforce the rules of a fair fight when I know that the enemy will simply ignore them. Omega, Blast Burn.

-Omega slams her fists into the ground and creates a swirling inferno of fire that ignites the trees surrounding the clearing like torches, leaving herself and Titan safe in the clearing.-

295

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Vien Forest - 22/8/14

Duke quickly makes another Protect barrier to shield him from the fire. Soon after that Lyuri shows up, running towards the Lucario

"Duke! What's going on?!" she said as she ran, then noticing Titan and Omega and stopping cold "... You?! What are you doing here?!"

"<Lyuri. I suppose that evens the fight.>" said Duke, giving her a smile.

"Right. Catch!"

She then tosses the necklace holding a Lucarionite to Duke, who catches it easily. She then proceeds to Mega Evolve Duke. as quickly as she could, the Lucario getting quickly enveloped in a cocoon of energy that soon burst and showing his Mega Evolved form.

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Vien Forest - 22/8/14

-Omega's response is limited to kneeling on the ground and drawing in deep breaths as she waits for the flames across her body to reignite. Titan cocks an eyebrow in surprise, but doesn't allow himself to react beyond that, instead simply charging up his next Aura Sphere in his right hand.-

Titan: ...How very convenient. First the mutt, and now his handler. If you must know, I came to this location with no hostile intentions, but the presence of your pet attack dog granted me an opportunity for long-overdue retribution that I would have been a fool to overlook. I would advise against making this any more difficult than it needs to be.

297

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Vien Forest - 22/8/14

"Attack dog?! Says the guy who uses his Pokémon as attack drones. I bet you couldn't even Mega Evolve that Infernape even if you had the necessary items! And you're telling me to not make things difficult when that's the sort of thing you've been doing for Lucius since ever?" said Lyuri, glaring "He's going to throw that Aura Sphere at Duke if he tries to get close to her, so let's take the safer route and take down two monkeys with one stone. she then turns to Duke "Swords Dance and Earthquake that Infernape while she can't do anything!"

Duke nods and does a little ritual to boost his strength, before punching the ground with incredible force and sending large shockwaves against both Omega and Titan.

298 (edited by Herbert40k 2014-08-23 17:24:33)

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Vien Forest - 22/8/14

-Titan's expression contorts with barely-restrained anger as he is sent staggering by Duke's Earthquake. He whips around and blasts the charged Aura Sphere at Lyuri.-

Titan: To deny that I made for a poor parent would be a blatant falsehood, but I have never once driven Lucius to contemplate taking his own life. My failings as a father are nothing compared to what you have inflicted upon the boy!

-Meanwhile, Omega is knocked to the ground, and struggles to get to her feet. She doesn't appear to be ready to stop fighting any tie soon, however.-

Omega: <You... you think I couldn't Mega Evolve? That's rather presumptuous of you. I'm not the kind of Pokemon that sleeps with their trainer - we're not quite that close - but if we didn't have a close bond, I would've turned him into charcoal several decades ago.>

-She wreathes herself in fire and body-tackles Duke with a Flare Blitz.-

299

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Vien Forest - 22/8/14

Lyuri quickly uses Detect to dodge the Aura Sphere and glares at Titan "I know I'm a terrible friend and I easily lose control over myself, I never denied it. But I at least try to help and make amends with Lucius, while you do absolutely nothing other than hurt him by keeping going with your Cyrus-wannabe act! Duke and I at least help Lucius with moral support and also help him develop his Auric powers! What do YOU do for him?!"

Meanwhile, Omega might find Duke disappearing from her view before she could get to him. She then might be struck by a blur hitting her a few times during an Extremespeed attack. Duke then stops at a fair distance from her.

"<I wouldn't doubt that, Lyuri is the kind of person who tends to go overboard and make assumptions, not unlike your own trainer, or his son.>"

300

Re: Herbert40k's Wrap-Up Thread

Vien Forest - 22/8/14

-Lyuri's comment appears to be enough to burst a vein in Titan's forehead.-

Titan: I... enough of this! I did not come here just so that I could listen to the insults of an insolent child! You are merely forestalling the inevitable, girl. I could pursue you to the ends of the earth with the resources under my command if I so desired. So be silent and face your death with some dignity!

-He charges at Lyuri, summoning twin Aura staffs in his hands, as Omega is whittled down by Duke's hail of blows.-

Omega: <Aren't you the one supposed to be defending those two rather than comparing them to the person currently trying to kill you?>

-She launches herself at him with a Mach Punch.-
