-Shieldmaiden raises an eyebrow-
Shieldmaiden: She's currently covered in the stuff herself, Fido. Why would she give us instructions that would hurt her? Now, do you have any water?
-The Auric Avenger shakes his head.-
The Auric Avenger: I'm already carrying approximately ten tonnes worth of gadgets as it is. Where would I find room for a water bottle? Check downstairs, maybe there's a vending machine or something that we can loot.
-Shieldmaiden shrugs-
Shieldmaiden: Fair enough. You watch her. Oh, and she's got at least two other Pokemon wandering the building, so... You know. Watch out in case they try to rescue her or whatever.
-she heads out of the room to search for a vending machine-
-A timeskip ensues, during which the Amplifier's goop is washed off, the authorities show up to put the Amplifier herself in cuffs, and the Auric Avenger has a run-in with the remaining Electric-type Pokemon wandering the building that leaves him rather frazzled. Eventually, though, power is restored and the Avenger allows himself to slump against the wall.-
The Auric Avenger: I swear, I never wanna see another damn electric eel as long as I live... shall we head back to the cave now? By the looks of things, we're pretty much done here. I'm ready to call this whole place someone else's problem.
-Shieldmaiden is still looking suspiciously at Snarling Beast for traces of the black goo as she leans against the wall next to the Avenger-
Shieldmaiden: Sounds like a plan. I need Chirp to fix some of my stuff, anyway.
The Auric Avenger: Then let's bail. Alakazam?
-He sends out Maul, who blips the two superheroes back to their home base.-
-Upon arrival, the Auric Avenger collapses into the sofa, tugging off his mask.-
Maul: ~I have a name, you know.~
The Auric Avenger Lucius: Yeah, but calling you by name whilst I'm in costume would be a bit of a giveaway.
Maul: ~Implying that the distinctive scar across my chest is entirely inconspicuous.~
Lucius: ...It's a habit thing.
-Crewe pulls off her helmet, pulling her ponytail out of the back of her costume-
Crewe: I'd suggest hiding scars with clothing like I do, but I guess an Alakazam wearing a shirt would be just as distinctive. I'll be right back, I gotta drop this stuff off with Chirp.
-she goes back into her alcove, and returns a minute later in her usual white long-sleeved shirt, scarf, and cargo shorts. She vaults over the back of the couch and settles down next to Lucius-
Crewe: So. That was fun.
-Lucius, still in costume from the neck down, gives a rather absent shrug as he starts to search around the sofa cushions for the TV remote.-
Lucius: You would say that, given that you weren't the one getting kicked around like an empty Soda Pop can.
Crewe: Yeah, but I had a pretty amazing rescue if I do say so myself.
Lucius: See, I was supposed to be the one doing the rescuing this time around. Clearly you're in defiance of your leader's orders and should be reprimanded accordingly.
-He pauses his search for a minute to look around the empty cavern.-
Lucius: Not that I've got much to lead down here, considering that it's just the two of us now.
-Crewe grins-
Crewe: You're gonna have to up your game if you want to get in a rescue, fruitcake.
-she raises an eyebrow-
Crewe: "Reprimanded"? If we can both get through that with a straight face, I will be very impressed.
-she shrugs-
Crewe: I guess they're all out being busy. Or slacking. Either or.
-Lucius leans back into the sofa.-
Lucius: We're the ones doing the slacking right now, aren't we? I'd say we've earnt the rest. Besides, it's not like I'm complaining. It means we've got the whole place to ourselves for once.
Crewe: Bah. We just saved Black City from... whatever the Dorkifier was after. Wi-fi or whatever. This isn't slacking off, it's recovering.
-she yawns and stretches, then swings her legs up onto the couch and leans back against Lucius's shoulder, folding her arms back behind her head-
-Lucius begins to regret taking off his mask as a faint hint of red enters his cheeks. He attempts to
Lucius: Sometimes I wonder where all these ridiculous supervillains are coming from. I mean, seriously, who wakes up one morning and thinks to themselves "say, I'm gonna go put on a silly costume and go rob a bank whilst acting out every comic book cliche I can think of"?
-Maul gives him a cool stare.-
Lucius: ...Yes, I'm aware of the hypocrisy, thank you very much.
-Crewe shrugs-
Crewe: Maybe they're in it for the fun. Maybe they're crazy. Maybe they saw us and decided to rise to the occasion.
-she tilts her head back to look up at him-
Crewe: Is there food in this cave?
-Lucius nods and jabs a thumb over his shoulder.-
Lucius: Yeah, there's a minifridge over in the corner. After this place started housing guests on a semi-regular basis I figured it'd be a good investment. You should be able to find something in there, assuming that Kaylee hasn't gone and gorged herself on our snack supply again.
Crewe: Hmmm...
-she turns her head to look at the fridge, half-heartedly reaching a hand out in that direction-
Crewe: That requires getting up and going over there... I need telekinesis so I can bring food to me.
Maul: ~Further proof that Alakazam are clearly the superior species.~
Lucius: Oh yeah? How about you levitate over some ice cream for us as proof of your superiority, then?
Maul: ~Have your butler do it.~
Lucius: I don't have a butler.
Maul: ~Exactly.~
-Lucius sighs and turns to look at Crewe.-
Lucius: You know, we totally should have a butler. We can't really call ourselves superheroes without a butler to mentor us and anchor us to reality.
Crewe: That's a great idea! I wonder if I could convince Chad to be our butler.
No.
Crewe: ... Nevermind. Hey Maaaaaul? I'll give you a berry if you get me ice cream from the fridge.
Maul: ~Two berries. And the immortal soul of your first-born child.~
Crewe: ... Deal.
-Maul dutifully levitates a tub of chocolate ice cream over to Crewe.-
Lucius: Hey, how come I don't get any?
Maul: ~I'll make you the same offer I made her.~
Lucius: ...Never mind, I'll pass. I'm not willing to risk the chance that you might actually be serious.
Maul: ~I'm always serious. Always.~
Crewe: Thank you, dear.
-she takes the tub and rummages around her bag for two berries and a spoon. She tosses the berries to Maul and starts eating-
Crewe: Planning on kids someday, fruitcake?
-Maul takes the berries and blips away to locations unknown. Lucius, meanwhile, is quick to parry Crewe's question with one of his own.-
Lucius: You carry a spoon around with you at all times?
Crewe: I live in a cave. You think there are a lot of utensils around?
