Topic: Straw does a Wonderlocke!

Yeah, starting a Wonderlocke in my Y version after finishing the egg run I did last time.

Rules:

1. Nickname all Pokemon(This mostly applies to the gift Pokemon)

2. In each new area you can only catch the first Pokemon you see, and it must be immediately Wonder Traded afterwards. Gift Pokemon may be used.
- If the Pokemon received from Wonder Trade is 10 levels or higher than the relative level of my Pokemon, it must be sent back. So no speeding through the game with a level 100 Zygarde.

3. If a Pokemon faints, it's dead and goes to the Graveyard box.

4. Repeats are not allowed unless the previous mon is dead.

5. If I see a shiny, these rules do not apply.

So, with those rules in place, let's go!

Re: Straw does a Wonderlocke!

Day 1 Part 1

Straw wakes up in his bed...after being stabbed by his mother's Fletchling.

"GET UP YOU LAZY BASTARD!"

"...Thank you Fletchling." Straw grumbles.

He gets out of bed and notices the TV is on. Currently, it's showing a movie about a 72 year old man and his cat Pokemon. Straw shuts the TV off, changes out of his pajamas, and heads downstairs where his mother greets him.

"Morning, Straw. Did Fletchling wake you up like I asked."

"YES. YES I DID." shouts the Fletchling.

Straw is not amused. "Yeah, I totally needed that." :/

"Well, you're up now, so go ahead and meet the neighbors outside." She motions for Straw to go outside.

Straw shrugs, and heads out, noticing that his mother was watching a documentary...about herself. Once outside, Rhyhorn barely notices him, being too asleep to care. Patting Rhyhorn's head, he heads out the gate onto the very quaint Route 1.

Re: Straw does a Wonderlocke!

Day 1: Part 2

Straw heads into Aquacorde Town, and is called over by a group of people from Vaniville Town

"Hey, you're that new guy!" the one with the Vanillite Shirt yells, "C'mon over!"

"Oh, there you are. I thought you were in Vaniville Town?"

"We got tired of waiting for you."

Straw sweatdrops, and takes a seat next to the girl in the black and red dress.

"So how do all of you know me?"

The small boy with the orange hair speaks up. "Oh, uh, we totally didn't creep on your Trainerbook profile. Nope."

"What are you talking about, we totally did! You said we needed to 'find out everything about this new guy' didn't you?" says the girl in the pink.

"...Shauna what are you talking about?"

The bigger guy with the Vanillite shirt speaks up, "So...nicknames! Straw, you need a nickname."

"...Do I really need one?"

"YES. WE ALL NEED NICKNAMES BECAUSE WE ARE FRIENDS NOW."

"...Fine. Just call me Straw."

Everyone is silent. Finally, the guy speaks up again.

"That...is...PERFECT!"

The girl with the dress nods. "So, now that Straw has been nicknamed Straw, why don't we introduce ourselves? I'm Serena, Shauna's the one in pink (she's not very smart.), Trevor is the little guy(rumor has it that he secretly has a Mewtwo locked in his basement), and the big guy is Tierno."

"Quite the interesting bunch here..."

Serena nods "Yep. So, who has our starter Pokemon?"

Tierno pulls out a box "Oh, I do!" He puts a box out onto the table. "Go ahead, pick one!"

He motions for Straw to go first. He peers in, and selects the one with the flame on it. Afterwards, Serena takes the ball with bubbles, and Shauna takes the one with the nut.

Trevor then hands each of them a paper. "You need to give this to your parents before you can go on to the gyms. It's just a waiver that says they aren't responsible if you or your Pokemon get killed, maimed, or stolen. Also, that they can't sue the Professor for anything that happens to you. Also, it has a special request from him as well. Dunno what that is."

"Alright then, I guess I'm off." Straw gets up from the table, and starts to head back to Vaniville before being stopped by Shauna.

"Wait, Straw! I want a battle now!"

"...Yeah sure. Not like you're gonna win."

Battle! VS. Shauna!

Re: Straw does a Wonderlocke!

Switching up the POV, third person isn't working out for what I want.

Day 1: Part 3

Shauna sends out Chespin, and I send out my Fennekin, named Katherine. It's strange, I feel like in another world, I did the same thing, only with a Fennekin named Catherine. Regardless, I take out her Chespin with ease.

"Aww, I lost!"

"Well, when you challenge someone with a type advantage over you, you're not likely to win."

Katherine nods. "You seem kinda dumb."

"Whatever! I'm gonna go get some new Pokemon!" She skips her way to Route 2.

"...Does she even know how to catch a Pokemon?"

Katherine shakes her head, clearly not having much faith in her. Honestly, I don't either. We head back home to deliver the letter/waiver.

As soon as we enter, Mom notices the Pokeball in my hand.

"Wow, a Pokeball! Did you get a Pokemon?"

Do you not see the Fennekin on my shoulder? Of course I did! "Yes." I point to Katherine. "Anyway, I have to give you this."

I hand her the waiver, and she reads over it, giggling at the end.

"What's so funny?"

"Oh, nothing. It just has some...lovely handwriting. Yes, that's it."

Suuuure it does. I have a feeling I don't want to see what was in that letter. Mom heads upstairs, and returns with new clothes.

"I figure you'll probably need these. Now, go race out there and take a lap around Kalos!"

Sometimes I forget she's a Rhyhorn Racer. Then the references work their way into her speech. I head back outside and am promptly stopped by Rhyhorn. Oh, now you care. Right when I'm about to leave. I wait for Rhyhorn to slowly go back to its tarp, and then head back towards Route 2.

Re: Straw does a Wonderlocke!

Day 1: Part 4

Upon reaching Route 2, having stopped to buy Pokeballs and Potions, I find Shauna and Serena, the latter teaching the former how to catch a Pokemon. Having already caught a Zigzagoon, which was promptly swapped out with a Scatterbug by some unknown force, I just keep walking, but Shauna stops me.

"Wait! You need to learn how to catch a Pokemon!"

"But I already caught one." I protest.

"Oh, just watch." Shauna forces me to watch Serena show how to catch a Pokemon.

"And then you throw the ball!" I watch as Serena catches a Bunnelby with her Fletchling. She takes the ball, and then turns to us. "Did that help?"

"Yes!" Shauna says enthusiastically, "But where do the Pokemon go?"

Serena and I facepalm.

"Shauna...they go in the ball."

"I don't get it, but whatever. LET'S GO!"

She runs off into the Forest with Serena being close behind. Me on the other hand? I get stopped by some kid and his Zigzagoon. At least he isn't boasting about it being top percentage. My newly obtained Scatterbug tackles it down, and I finally move forwards. As soon as I enter the forest, Shauna appears out of nowhere.

"HEY STRAW! We should travel together!"

"...How about no?"

"I'll heal your party whenever!"

"...Deal."

As much as I hate Shauna, who am I to pass up free healing? I run through the forest, catching a Caterpie, which is swapped out just as the Zigzagoon was for a Sandile. She looks up at me.

"Heya! Looks like I ended up with you!"

"Yeah, I'm not really sure how that happened." At least she's not as afraid as the Scatterbug was. Took him ages to get the courage to fight.

"STRAW A PIKACHU!"

I turn around, and see Shauna tackle a Pikachu, only for it to run away in terror. Good for you, little Pikachu.

"Aww... I wanted a Pikachu. Straw, promise me that you'll catch me one if you see one?"

"No."

"Great! Let's go"

As we move on through, I KO a Pikachu just because of her. Along the way Serena gives me a free Pokeball. I take it, and continue forward, Sandile defeating another girl's Pikachu, much to Shauna's dismay.

"The poor Pikachu..."

Meh. Scatterbug evolved, I couldn't care less. I keep going, Shauna keeps complaining. Gee, maybe if you stopped following me for a second to catch the Pikachu I'm battling, maybe you'd have one?

We finally reach the end, where we meet up with the others. We end up all heading onto Route 3 at the same time, mostly to appease Shauna. I'm not sure if anyone actually likes her.

Re: Straw does a Wonderlocke!

Day 2: Part 1

We all decide to go our separate ways once on Route 3. Of course, the only way to go was up to Santalune City, so it didn't really matter. On the way to the City, I caught a Bidoof, named him Doofy...and then he got swapped with a Weedle. Seriously mysterious force? If I wanted one of those, I would've searched the forest! Regardless, I keep going, Scatterbug evolving into Spewpa on the way. Then all of a sudden this skater runs past me.

"SORRY I'M IN A HURRY"

Clearly you are, if you can just push people aside. After a few more trainer battles, we enter the city. Katherine immediately spots the same skater...standing in front of the gym.

"Is that what she was in a hurry for? Looks suspicious."

I go over to her. "Hey, you're that skater that knocked me down on Route 3!"

The skater panics. "Uh...well then...uh...BATTLE ME!"

"Wait what?"

Before I can react, I'm thrown into a battle against the skater. Katherine makes quick work of her Pokemon, leaving the skater there awkwardly.

"Uh...how about as an apology I give you some skates?"

"....Sure, why not?"

I got roller skates. Yaaaay. I wonder how long until I fall over.

Re: Straw does a Wonderlocke!

Day 2: Part 2

I decided to go onto route 22, not really ready for the Gym Leader. I caught a Riolu there, but like always, it was swapped out. But I got an EEVEE, so everything is good. She's so adorable. After sweeping through the trainers there, Weedle Evolved into Kakuna, and we go into the gym.

Fricking spiders.

We ignore the guy standing near the entrance, and descend down onto...the spider web. Is this Viola's idea of safe? It's a thin spider web above an abyss, THAT IS NOT SAFE. But of course the trainers are safe on wood platforms. Katherine and Eevee easily defeat them and we challenge Viola.

"Photography is my hobby!" she shouts, "Let me get a pre-battle shot!" She snaps a picture of Katherine, Eevee, and I, then we jump into battle.

Viola sends out Surskit against Katherine, and I fumble around, trying to choose who to send out in her place. I finally settle on Eevee, but Spewpa takes a severe beating, nearly dying from a Critical Hit Bubble. Eevee smacks Surskit around with Covet, but not before he sets up Water Sport. Katherine is not amused.

"...Well, fuck you too, Surskit." Katherine remarks.

Viola sends out her Vivillon against Katherine, who can only chip away at Vivillon thanks to Water Sport. Vivillon slowly lowers her health with Infestation. Finally, the Water Sport fades, and after a quick Potion, Katherine burns the giant butterfly, and we get our badge. Soon afterwards, Spewpa and Eeve evolve into Vivillon and Sylveon respectively.

"Well, that was certainly a photogenic battle! Zoom in on my back wall to get out."

I have no idea what you mean, but I'll gladly take the easy exit. We reappear on the top, coming out of a Butterfree painting. The guy by the pole suggests we head up to Lumiose and show the Professor our Bug Badge. With that in mind, I heal, and head north.

Right off the bat, I encounter a communist Skitty name Meow Zedong. I catch him, but he is replaced by...a Top Percentage Honedge. She's much better than a communist cat, that's for sure.

Re: Straw does a Wonderlocke!

Day 4: Part 1(Yes I took a break)

I continued up through Route 4, fighting gardeners, almost getting killed by their chainsaws, fighting more gardeners, some kids...you get the point. At the top of the route, I spot two Scientist looking people.

"Hey! You're one of the kids Professor Sycamore gave a Pokemon to, right?" the man asks.

"Yeah, why?"

"We're supposed to guide you to his lab."

The woman points into the gate. "This way, follow me!"

Not seeing any reason not to, I follow them into the city, then the lab. Sycamore is waiting there, and give me some speech about how initially he wasn't going to choose me. But then he found out who my mom was. So...thanks, Mom, I guess.

"I'd like to battle you, Straw! I'm not very good, but I still want to battle!"

Eh sure why not.

"HI STRAW! HI PROFESSOR!"

Oh Arceus it's Shauna. QUICK DO THE BATTLE!

Sycamore's team of Kanto starters goes down quickly from my team. Although, Sandile did get somewhat frustrated when her Sand Tombs missed.

"Why do I keep missing!?!"

After the battle, Sycamore gives me a choice of one of the starters that he used in battle. After some thought, I pick Squirtle, hoping he isn't immediately swapped for something else. I send Beedrill to the PC to make room for Squirtle. Surprisingly, I get to keep this one. Sweet. Leonardo joined the team! Sycamore also gives me a Mega Stone, telling me to research it. Whatever floats your boat, dude. I just head outside to explore the city, being interrupted by TOTALLY NOT EVIL GUY IN RED LYSANDRE on the way out.

Serena calls me over, wanting to meet me in some cafe. Trevor and Tierno wonder what she wants to discuss, and if it's a date. Geez, can't two people just meet at a cafe as friends?

On the way there, I see a guy blocking one of the entrances into the main part of the city.

"What's up with this?"

"Blackout. I can't let you pass."

A tourist walks past him, looking him in the eye, and he does nothing.

"What the hell, why she get to go through?"

"I'm sorry, I can't let you pass."

Well then. It's obviously a coverup. I head into Cafe Soleil, where Serena introduces me to Diantha...and Lysandre again. Totally evil. All Serena wanted to tell me is that she wants to beat me in a battle some day. Like that'll ever happen. With that waste of time over with, I head out to Route 5.

Re: Straw does a Wonderlocke!

This post is 200% better if you play this while reading it.

Day ???

So much has happened since I first started this journey.

I've gathered the badges, stopped Team Flare, and defeated the Pokemon League, but at what cost?

"Aww, you're a playful Beldum, aren't you?"

The Beldum in my arms nodded and zipped around the place.

"Well then, let's go help you get stronger."

We headed into the Battle Chateau, and faced a Baron and his Venipede.

"Beldum, Take Down!" I ordered.

Beldum rushed forward, slamming into the Venipede, but doing little to hurt it. He tanked a Bug Bite, but it was clear it wasn't going to be an easy fight.

"Hm. Beldum, come back. Katherine can deal with this."

Before Beldum can even acknowledge me, the Venpide smashes into him with Pursuit, throwing him across the hall. By the time I got to him, it was too late. He was already gone...

"..."

Katherine looked at me, unsure of what to do.

"...Flame Charge. Kill him."

Katherine engulfs herself in fire, and slams into the Venipede, winning the battle for me, but Beldum was already gone. The first member of my team to die...and he hadn't been on for more than a few hours. We buried him in a clearing by the flower fields.

Katherine and Leonardo teamed up for a Double battle against a Machoke and Mr. Mime.

"Should be easy."

And it was easy. Katherine and Leonardo were hitting hard against the two opponents. One more attack should've done it. Katherine KO'd Mr. Mime with her attack, but Leonardo wasn't fast enough...

"Water Gun!"

Leonardo began to attack the Machoke, but before he knew it, a Cross Chop hit him, a critical hit. He had no chance as his limp body flew over the hill. Katherine and I just looked on in shock.

"...Leo?" Katherine whispered, stunned that he just died right then and there.

She later defeated the trainers, but not before Noibat came out and saw Leo's body lying at the bottom of the hill.

"...It's always the good ones that die young." He said, clearly distraught. "Why not me? I'm the frailest member of the team...Leo was just finding his place in the world."

We buried him on that hill.

"Lucario seems to really like you!" Korrina mused, watching her Lucario's actions towards me. "Why not take him with you?"

"Sure."

Lucario joined me, and immediately wanted to battle with me again. So we set out for Route 12, and battled a fisherman and his Qwilfish

"Lucario, Bone Rush!"

Lucario dashed all around the Qwilfish, hitting him with an auric bone saber, but not quite enough to KO. He returned to my side...and the Qwilfish gave him an evil grin as he used Revenge. I saw Lucario's eyes go wide as the Qwilfish attacked, the fish Pokemon's barbs stabbing into his body, and he fell lifelessly into the water.

I could barely speak. Yet again, another Pokemon died instantly.

Simipour finished the Fisherman's team off. After the battle, I went to pick up Lucario's body, wondering if I should return to Shalour City to bury him. I decided against it, I couldn't bear to face Korrina again after what had just happened. In the end, he was buried on the beach. I was beginning to seriously consider if I was cut out for this.

I knew the Laverre Gym would be tough. None of my Pokemon were effective against Fairy types. Katherine volunteered to lead, and we battled our way to Valerie. At least, that's what we thought would happen.

We faced a Furisode Girl and her Aromatisse. The two girls stared each other down, giving each other sassy looks. Once they finally attacked, Katherine's Flamethrower wasn't enough to KO her. The Aromatisse's attack did more than enough. Katherine dropped to the floor, dead.

I stood there for a good minute before sending out another Pokemon. Katherine was dead. The one Pokemon who had been with me since the beginning. Gone, just like that. Sylveon defeated the Aromatisse, and afterwards we went out into the forest with Katherine's body to bury. Afterwards, I began to tear up, the pain of having to bury Katherine too much to take. Sylveon nuzzled my face as we just sat there, staring at the grave.

"Things will be okay. The rest of us are still here. Katherine wouldn't want you to just sit here and mope. We still have 3 more gyms to defeat." Sylveon said reassuringly. I hugged her for a bit, before heading back into the City to form a new plan. Sylveon was right. Now more than ever, I had to follow through with things. For Katherine's sake.

I ended up with a young, shy Houndour in the weird Pokemon swap that I grew accustomed to dealing with. He was so afraid, afraid of battling. I assured him that I wouldn't let anything happen to him. And so we began training.

He took out several Pokemon, and even leveled up a few times.

"...I...I think I'm doing it!" he exclaimed, amazed at what he had accomplished.

I pet his head, "See? I knew you could do it."

In his excitement, he ran into the grass and encountered a Murkrow.

"Houndour, wait! Come back here!"

It was too late. He had already tried to attack the Murkrow. The Murkrow lunged at him, Houndour's attack not hurting much, and killed him instantly with Aerial Ace.

"Houndour!"

I ran forward to pick up his body, as Sylveon finished off the Murkrow. I just held Houndour close, ashamed of myself. I promised I'd keep him safe...

After losing so many Pokemon, I began training a Charmander and Kirlia to join the team. They soon evolved into Charizard and Gardevoir, and both soon formed a fast friendship. Gardevoir was the stronger of the two, and as such he was more experienced at battling.

Nothing could've prepared him for what was on Route 15 though.

It should've been an easy win, Gardevoir vs. Gabite. Dazzling Gleam should have ended the battle. But Gabite went first. He Slashed Gardevoir, landing a critical hit, and just like that, he was dead. Charizard was in shock. The two of them were partners...and now Gardevoir was gone. He took his revenge on the Gabite by Dragon Clawing him.

Charizard was never the same afterwards, he started to fall behind the team. It just wasn't the same for him with Gardevoir gone.

Sky Battles. They're supposed to be fun. A way for Flying type Pokemon to see who is better.

Except that's not what they are at all. Not when a damn Cryogonal is allowed.

I had been roped into fighting a Sky Trainer by accident. Noivern and Vivillon were all I had against her Cryogonal. I swear, I saw her smile wickedly when I sent out my Pokemon. Both of us knew at least one of my Pokemon wasn't going to live to see the end. Noivern and Vivillon knew as well.

"If this is it for me, then I am glad to have come this far. I never thought I'd see myself evolve...at least now I can die knowing what I'd look like." Noivern somberly said to me as we started off with a Boomburst.

It didn't KO the Cryogonal, but he didn't kill Noivern immediately, instead he was left dangerously low on HP. I was going to heal him, but he shook his head.

"No matter what you do, I'm not going to survive. This is it for me."

I nodded slowly, giving him a tearful hug goodbye. The Cryogonal killed him shortly afterwards. Vivillon came out afterwards. She saw Noivern's body lying on the ground below, and knew what was in store for her. She would not outspeed Cryogonal.

"Guess it's my turn on the chopping block." She remarked, trying to at least go out with a smile.

"Looks like it..."

"Well, I knew this would come sooner or later...a bug like me doesn't live forever."

She closed her eyes as the Ice Beam hit, smiling. I admired their courage, going into death like that. They certainly handled it better than I did. Losing two of my Pokemon in one battle...that was the last straw. No more death. No more Sky Battle executions. I was determined to see things through to the end.

When I reached the basement of Team Flare's base, and finally met with Yveltal, I couldn't help but laugh at the turn of events. The goddess of death. Staring right at me. How fitting that one who has seen so much death would meet the goddess herself.

"You are lucky, Straw. If this were another version of you, I'd kill you on the spot. But the death you have experienced is of a different kind, and I shall grant you my power. Do not disappoint me. Or you WILL die."

As I caught her, I hoped that there'd be no more death. But even having the goddess herself on my side wasn't enough.

The Pokemon League. The final obstacle between the Hall of Fame and me.

"Listen, this is going to be a tough series of battles. Some of you may not make it out alive. Do you still want to do this?"

"With Yveltal backing you? Hell yeah. We're totally fine." Krookodile mused.

"We'll see..."

The other team members were in agreement, and we headed inside the League.

Each of them fell quickly, though some of us had close calls. Lucy narrowly avoided death at the hands of Siebold's Clawitzer. When it came to the final Elite Four chamber, Charizard knew he could do it...

...until he met Wikstrom's Probopass. The Pokemon's Rock/Steel typing, Sturdy, and Defense would guarantee Charizard would not one shot it. Both of us felt confident that we could pull through.

Then it used Power Gem.

Charizard didn't stand a chance. The Power Gem was too powerful, and he went down. Krookodile finished off Wikstrom, and I ran to Charizard. He just smiled and looked at me.

"Looks like I'm gonna see Gardevoir again...goodbye Straw."

I hugged him, thanking him for all that he had done to get me and the rest of us to the Champion. With Krookodile's help, we moved his body with us to the Champion's elevator, and went into the final battle...

...And won. No one else died. Just Charizard. When we made it to the Hall of Fame, it was unanimously decided to let Charizard be memorialized in it as well. What better way to remember him by?

After departing the League, before heading to the parade, we stopped in Route 14, and buried Charizard next to Gardevoir.

So much death. So many tearful goodbyes. I still get nightmares about them. Sylveon tries to comfort me, but she can only do so much. Beldum, Leonardo, Lucario, Katherine, Houndour, Noivern, Vivillon, Gardevoir, and Charizard. Their deaths are going to haunt me for the foreseeable future.

Yveltal can't help me, what's dead is dead. That's the way the world works. But she did inform me of two individuals who might be able to help me.

And so I set out in search of Zygarde and Mewtwo.
