Topic: The story of DS' future Blitzle

- Unova, Striaton City, an unspecified point in time... -

A lone Blitzle lays on the grass near a currently empty house, thinking about a friend of hers that lived in the house a few months ago...

A few months ago...

An eight year old girl gently pets the Blitzle while explaining to her that her family is moving away because her father had gotten a new job.

Little girl: "... I'm sorry I can't take you with me, seeing as you're a wild Pokemon and I'm not old enough to be a trainer."

The Blitzle: (nuzzles)

Little girl: "... I'll miss you too, Sparkles." (hugs the Blitzle) "Maybe we can meet again someday?"

The Blitzle: <...> (nods)

Back to the present, or not the present-present, but... Or maybe it is? It is an unspecified point in time, but... Oh, you know what I mean

The Blitzle quietly lays there, a few people passing by commenting on the electric type's presence.

Random Person 1: "That Blitzle is still there?"

Random Person 2: "It appears so..."

Random Person 1: "Shouldn't someone have moved it out of the way by now? I mean, eventually someone will move into that house, and they probably wouldn't want to have a wild Pokemon wandering around outside."

Random Person 2: "Well, what should one do about that? Catch it? Or take it back over to the other wild Blitzle on Route 3?"

The Blitzle quietly stayed in the same spot. Perhaps she deep down hoped that her friend, Hannah, would come back for her once she was old enough to be a trainer? Little did she know, that fate had other plans...

Unova, unspecified point in time, a few days later...

The Blitzle still wanders around near the house, being just as quiet as before. Little does she know, that she is being observed by a Skarmory on a rooftop some distance away.

Skarmory: <Hmm... What is this little Blitzle doing here, instead of hanging out with the other Blitzle on Route 3?> (smirks) <I'll go bring master here, and then we'll investigate this!>

The Skarmory flies off to find his trainer.

The Skarmory flies back to his owner, a woman looking to be in her early thirties or so. She has dark brown hair going just below her shoulders.

Woman: (noticing the Skarmory) "Oh, there you are. Seen anything around these parts that might be of interest to us?"

Skarmory: (nods)

Woman: "Oh, you have?" (smiles and pets the Skarmory) "Good boy. Now, show me what you found."

The Skarmory begins flying back towards the empty house, leading the woman to where the Blitzle is.

The Skarmory leads the woman over to where the Blitzle is. The woman curiously observes the electric zebra.

Woman: "A Blitzle, huh? What is that doing here, instead of Route 3 not far away from here?"

Skarmory: <I asked myself the same question.>

The woman decides to ask a few people what they know about the Blitzle, learning how it used to visit a young girl who lived in the now empty house a few months ago. After the girl moved away, the Blitzle has apparently been spending most of her time there.

Woman: "I see... You know, that Blitzle shouldn't just stay around there. Maybe I should take it with me and give it a new home?"

Random NPC: "Oh! I thought you looked familiar! You're Melinda, that woman who takes in homeless Pokemon and looks after them!"

Melinda: "Why, yes. That's me." (smiles) "Glad to hear that people here have heard of my good deeds!"

Random NPC: "Well, I don't see any reason why you can't take the Blitzle with you. Even though she is technically a wild Pokemon, it might do her good to take her somewhere else so she can get her mind off her friend that moved away."

Melinda: "Good point." (pulling out two pokeballs) "I'll handle this."

The Blitzle curiously looks up as Melinda and her Skarmory approach.

Melinda: "Hello, little Blitzle!"

The Blitzle nervously takes a few steps back, the woman releases a Tangrowth and a Galvantula from the pokeballs she was holding.

Melinda: "Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you! I just want you to come with me." (holds out a Leppa berry) "Would you like a Leppa berry?"

The Blitzle: <...>

Melinda: "Maybe you're not hungry?" (puts the berry away) "I'll just save this for later, then."

The Blitzle decides to run away, feeling uncomfortable around this woman. However, before she can run, the Galvantula fires a String Shot at her legs with no warning, leaving them stuck in the sticky silk like substance.

Blitzle: <!>

Melinda: (sighs) "Stubborn, aren't you?" (smiles) "Tangrowth, use Sleep Powder on the Blitzle, would you?"

The Blitzle struggles to free herself from the silk as the Tangrowth sends a cloud of green dust at her. The Blitzle continues resisting for a few more moments, before falling asleep, at which point the Tangrowth picks her up with two long blue vines and hands her over to her trainer.

Melinda: (smiles) "Well done, boys! Let's take this Blitzle to the car, and then we'll head home, okay?" (to the sleeping Blitzle) "Don't worry, I'll take good care of you."

Melinda carries the sleeping Blitzle with her, assuring a few people she passes on the way that she will make sure to do a good job looking after her. Her three Pokemon follow her to her car, a minivan. Melinda recalls the Galvantula and the Skarmory, before putting the Blitzle into the back of the car.

Melinda: (to the Tangrowth) "I suggest you get in as well, just in case the Blitzle starts waking up before we get back to Black City. If that happens, sprinkle some more Sleep Powder on it, okay?"

Tangrowth: (nods and gets in, sitting down next to the Blitzle)

Melinda: "Good boy." (gets in and starts the car) "Well, let's head home." (smirks) "I hope Chandelure has been enjoying himself while looking after the other Pokemon as usual!"

The woman begins driving out of Striaton City, it would take at least four hours for her to get home. The Tangrowth made sure to keep an eye on the Blitzle so she would not wake up until they had made it back home and moved the Blitzle into her new home. The Blitzle did remain asleep during the ride, but could at one point during it have sworn she had heard the Tangrowth whisper to her: "I'm sorry..."

Re: The story of DS' future Blitzle

- Unova, Black City, several hours later... -

The Blitzle groggily opens her eyes, the first thing she sees being a pair of yellow eyes looking at her. Coming to her senses, she realizes that she is in a cage, just barely big enough for her to stand up in. A Chandelure hovers in front of the cage, before floating away. The Blitzle tries to get a better look at her surroundings, seeing that there are several more Pokemon in the room, all locked in cages. Most of the Pokemon seem to be cowering in fear as the Chandelure floats past their cages, while some just lay inside their cages, seeming as if their spirits had been broken.

The Blitzle continues to look around at her surroundings, trying to figure out what is going on. She can faintly hear Melinda's voice from the other side of a door left slightly ajar.

Melinda: "... Why, yes. I think you'd be very interested in the Marowak."

The Blitzle looks around, noticing a Marowak in one of the cages across the room. It is missing its bone club.

???: <Psst! Hey, you there!>

The Blitzle looks to her side, noticing a Dewott in the cage next to her. He seems different from the other Pokemon in the room. The Blitzle can tell from the look in the Dewott's eyes that he hasn't given up.

Dewott: <I see you had the misfortune of being taken by the witch, huh?>

Witch? The Blitzle tilted her head in confusion.

Dewott: <Guess you're not familiar with the stories that are told among wild Pokemon about that woman?>

Blitzle: (shakes her head)

Dewott: <Among other humans, she pretends to be a kindhearted woman who takes in homeless and abandoned Pokemon and gives them a home. However, the truth is that she sells us to the highest bidder.>

Blitzle: <...>

Dewott: <I know, right?> (sighs) <I was the most recent catch, until you got here. It worries me to see how all these Pokemon seem to have given up on escaping... I bet that creepy Chandelure has something to do with it.>

The Blitzle watches the Chandelure float around the room, and the Pokemon shivering in fright as it passes by their cages.

Dewott: (watching the Chandelure) <Well... They won't break me. I will find a way to get out of this place.> (looking over at the Blitzle) <Can I count on you to help? If we work together, perhaps we can find a way to escape from this place!>

The Blitzle smiles and nods, the Dewott smiles back.

Dewott: <Great! I know we've only just met, but I think the two of us working together is our best option.>

The Blitzle nodded her head slightly, she felt reassured knowing that she wasn't alone. Hopefully, they could find a way out of this...

Melinda is preparing dinner for the Pokemon locked up in the big room in the basement, her Skarmory watching her.

Melinda: (chopping up some vegetables) "Making all this food sure takes a lot of time, and the best ingredidents are expensive, but hey, got to keep those Pokemon healthy. We'll probably make more money of them that way."

Skarmory: (nods)

Melinda: "Oh, and I've been thinking... Perhaps it would be worth getting ourselves a better security system? I mean, the one we have is okay, and Chandelure has been doing a great job keeping those sneaky little Pokemon from escaping."

Skarmory: <He certainly has.>

Melinda: "But, I was thinking... Maybe we could afford to install some laser grid system?"

Skarmory: <Ooh, like the ones that always show up in those movies? But doesn't someone always figure out how to get past those?>

Melinda: "After all, I don't want to take any chances having those Pokemon escape, or having someone discover my little secret."

Melinda eventually finishes preparing the food, calling over Tangrowth to help her bring all the food to the Pokemon downstairs.

Re: The story of DS' future Blitzle

Melinda has just gathered up the Pokemon's food dishes after they had finished up their breakfast. The Blitzle and Dewott had still not figured out how they would escape from here. The Chandelure had left the room for a moment to take a short break.

Melinda: (picking up the Dewott's food bowl) "And that's the last one." (closes and locks the door to the Dewott's cage) "Now I'll just put these away and then make some more phone calls..."

Melinda exits the room, and the Dewott realizes that she has left the keys to the cage in the lock.

Dewott: <No way... Could it be this simple?>

The Dewott reaches for the keys, and manages to unlock his cage. He then quickly unlocks the Blitzle's cage.

Dewott: <Come on, let's get out of here quickly!>

Blitzle: (nods)

The two of them quickly leave the room, and start heading up the stairs, trying to move as quickly as possible while also making as little noise as possible. They didn't have time to worry about the other Pokemon still locked up downstairs, the two of them just had to get out while they had the chance. However, before they could even find the front door, several blue vines suddenly flew out and wrapped themselves around the two Pokemon, picking them up. Melinda and her Chandelure moved over to them, the former smirking at the two Pokemon.

Melinda: "Oh, come on! Did you honestly think I was that stupid?" (snickers) "I only let those keys there for you, because I simply wanted to see how far you would get!"

Dewott: (glares)

Melinda: (smirks) "Well, that was fun, and gives me some ideas for what new security systems I should consider having installed." (to her Chandelure and Tangrowth) "Take these two back to their cages."

The Tangrowth begins carrying the two back down to the basement, the Chandelure floating closely behind to make sure they don't try something.

Tangrowth: <I'm really sorry about this.>

Dewott: (angrily) <Not sorry enough to help us, apparently!>

Chandelure: (snicker) <That attitude won't get you anywhere.> (omniously hovering around the two Pokemon) <Try to escape all you want, but soon you will realize that the only way out of here, is when Melinda sends you off to whoever the highest bidder was.>

Dewott: <Grr...>

Chandelure: (snickering) <Eventually, I will break your spirits, just like all the other Pokemon here.>

Blitzle: <...>

Dewott: (glares) <You'll never break me!>

Chandelure: (smugly) <Is that a challenge?>

The Blitzle and Dewott are returned to their cages, Chandelure omniously watching over the Pokemon while the Tangrowth heads back upstairs.

Blitzle and Dewott are still having trouble figuring out a way to escape, and have been trying to get to know the other Pokemon. However, the other Pokemon don't talk much, possibly because of the Chandelure constantly watching them. However, they had learned that not all of the Pokemon were homeless. It turned out the Marowak in the cage on the other side of the room in fact a wild Pokemon that came from a Marowak tribe on Route 15, and a Swellow in one of the other cages had been shot out of the sky with one of the Galvantula's electric attacks and taken away while he had been out searching for food for his chick.

Blitzle could faintly hear Melinda talking on the phone, apparently she was talking to a customer in Orre.

Melinda: "... How much did you say you were willing to pay for them?" (listening to the person on the other line talk) "Oh, I don't care what you do with them..."

The Blitzle quietly rested her head on the side of her cage, wondering how they would ever escape from this place. Perhaps they just needed to wait for the right moment? Wait for just the perfect oppurtunity to come along? But how long would they have to wait for such an oppurtunity?

It's late at night, and Blitzle and Dewott are asleep in their cages, even as Melinda in the dark of night is busy sending off a cage with a rather sad looking Liepard in it to whoever the highest bidder for it was. Melinda eventually returns, and lays down on the sofa in her living room.

Melinda: "Ahh... Another delivery, and no one caught us." (giggles a little) "Hehe... My dad would've freaked out soo much if he discovered what I have been up to...

- Castelia City, many years ago -

A much younger Melinda, around ten years or so, is out for a walk with her father.

Young!Melinda: "Mmm! This ice cream is really good!"

Melinda's father: (smiles)

It was certainly a lovely day. Suddenly, a Skitty shows up.

Skitty: "Nya!"

Young!Melinda: "Oh, it's so cute! Can I pet it?"

Melinda's father: (suddenly frightened at the sight of the pink kitty) "NO! Stay away from it!"

Young!Melinda: "Eh?"

Melinda's father moves in front of his daughter, as if to keep her safe while he glares at the Skitty

Melinda's father: "Stay away from my daughter, you little assassin!"

Very confused Skitty: (tilts head) "Nya?"

Melinda's father: "Go away, monster! I won't let you hurt my little girl!"

The very confused Skitty wanders off, Melinda is confused as well.

Young!Melinda: "Dad, why'd you freak out like that? It was just a kitty..."

Melinda's father: (shakes head) "Melinda, Pokemon aren't all friendly and cuddly like the media wants you to believe!"

Young!Melinda: "They're not?"

Melinda's father: "Absolutely not. All Pokemon are dangerous creatures, and for your own safety, you should stay far away from them!"

Young!Melinda: "Even the little ones?"

Melinda's father: "Especially the little ones!"

Little Melinda wasn't sure what was up with her father. She guessed he at some point in his life had had a really bad experience with Pokemon, or something.

Melinda's father: "Like those firebreathing puppies that could easily leave permanent burn marks all over you, or those electric rodents that could easily kill you on a whim!"

Young!Melinda: "(shudders)

Melinda's father: (pats his daughter's shoulder) "Hey, sorry if I'm making you uncomfortable with all these scary words, but I just want you to know that all Pokemon are very dangerous creatures, and that you therefore should stay as far away from them as possible. Do you understand?"

Young!Melinda: (sighs) "Yes, dad. I'll stay away from Pokemon..."

Melinda's father: (smiles) "Good girl."

- Back to the present -

Melinda: (snickers) "Hehe... My clueless father wasn't entirely wrong, but he was certainly missing a few important details, mainly how valueable Pokemon are. And that no matter how dangerous a Pokemon is, it doesn't matter just as long as your own Pokemon are stronger." (smirks at her Skarmory and Galvantula in the background) "With a well-trained team, there's nothing to worry about..." (yawns and falls asleep)
