Topic: Zeal's Nuzlocke(s) and such!
I've given up on this Nuzlocke. I'm way overleveled and it's a chore to do. It's just no fun for me.
So, I've started THIS instead! This'll be a more normal Nuzlocke, I suppose. I plan on doing more than one Nuzlocke in this thread, hence the "(s)" in its title. For now, I'll be playing Pokémon FireRed: Generations! That's a 386 hack of FireRed that I didn't think twice about until today.
By the way, that color thing I did in the last post of the previous Nuzlocke thing... I'm going to do it here, too. But for human characters as well as mons. Just because. To start off, here are some colors I know I'll need right away:
RL!Me
Player character
Rival
Professor Oak
I used a random number generator for these colors but I'm going with them because it made me a shade of GREEN~!
Well, without further ado...
Pokémon FireRed: Generations, part 001: First Steps
Well, the title screen is the same as vanilla FireRed. Ah, well. Let's start!
(By the way, in case you can't already tell, this is going to be the same sorta style my other Nuzlocke was in. It's kinda bizarre at times, I suppose.)
Okay, Oak's intro, blah, blah, blah, everything's the same as usual so far...
NAME TIME!
...Actually, no idea what to name myself here... Just pressing START and seeing what happens, then!
KARL? Of course not. That's just ridiculous.
Karl, though... That is an awesome name. That's more like it.
Blah, blah, blah, more text... RIVAL's NAME!
Well, no idea again. This time I used an online random name generator-y thing, though.
Quincy it is!
Well, after a bit more talking from Professor Oak, we arrive in Karl's bedroom.
I get the Potion from the PC, of course.
I head downstairs. Everything seems exactly the same as normal so far. Then again, it usually does at first in this type of hack.
I change my options. I decide to change the battle style from SHIFT to SET for the purposes of this run.
Then I go outside. Everything still seems the same. I head north, and Professor Oak brings me to his lab.
Very well, then.
!
!!!
Well, this has changed.
Clamperl, Trapinch, and Tyrogue...
I use another random number generator to decide the starter! Huzzah!
Trapinch it is. That is a silly color for a Trapinch. But the RNG knows all!
...I should give the RNG a color. RNG time!
Well, there is now a color for the RNG!
...I think I'm going a bit overboard with the colors. Ah, well! It's fun!
Well, Trapinch naming time!
Hmm... I'm going to use a name theme for all my mons through this.
How about Heartless names? Nah, a lot of those are too long to fit... Well, I can be creative with abbreviations. And I'll just stretch that theme to include Heartless, Nobodies, Unversed, and Dream Eaters. Just because. It gives me more options.
Antlion seems like a natural name. That was a boss Heartless in 358/2 Days, y'know?
And it's a totally natural name, since I'm fairly certain Trapinch are based on real life antlions.
So then, Oak tells Quincy he can pick his starter.
He chooses Spheal. Which was totally not one of my options.
Quincy: Given the choice between Clamperl, Trapinch, and Tyrogue. Chooses Spheal.
I dunno, that sounds like something that could be a thing.
But Quincy is officially my favorite character in this game because of this. HE MAKES HIS OWN OPTIONS! Or something.
Well, I open the menu to check Antlion out. Ooh, he's holding an item! I wonder what it—
Ah. Well, I put the Pecha Berry back. It would be better to have Antlion hold it than to let it sit in my bag, I think.
There we are. Only Scratch. Darn. Well, it is early-game...
Well, I go to leave the lab, and...
RIVAL BATTLE!
I use Scratch.
...I don't have much of an option.
Yep. Just keep Scratching away.
Level 6.
I leave the lab, and notice something I failed to see earlier.
Was once possible.
Very interesting.
Well, I go up to Route 1.
This doesn't count as my Route 1 mon because I don't have any means to catch things yet.
Level 7.
Ooh, this wasn't in the original. May now has a color, thanks to the RNG. A lot of these colors are pretty similar. Oh, well.
She sends out a Skitty. Scratch time!
Darn.
DARN!
Oh, never mind. Antlion was immobilized by love only once.
Level 8.
And she leaves.
I get a Potion.
I run into some more things, then get to Viridian. I see a Chansey outside the Pokémon Center!
I'm really great at not taking screenshots mid-sentence, just so you guys know. Really great. As in, A MASTER.
Anyway, the Chansey gave me a Mental Herb. Which, because it cures infatuation, reminded me of May's Skitty.
I heal...
Another person not in the original.
Ooh!
Oak's Parcel.
Path blocked.
Potion.
A MASTER, I TELL YOU!
Well, back to Pallet.
Some ordinary stuff.
Route 1 again, this time with Poké Balls. Let's do this.
Sentret!
I took out the Sentret I ran into on my way to Viridian in one hit, so I'm going to try to catch it at full health.
Success.
Actually, I don't see the similarity. She kinda looks like the Final Mix version, though.
Kinda. At least coloration-wise.
No, not really...
Well, I'm done for now! Hopefully, this will continue!
