Topic: Dune's "How the Eff would that work?" Thread

Because I brainstorm some of the weirdest stuff, I'm making this thread of the questions that I somehow come up with relating to the RP and it's worldbuilding.

First one:

Say you have a regular human, and a Pokemon wearing an armband. They have a child together. Would that resulting child be just a regular human? What Pokeform would the child have, if the parents didn't have compatible Pokeforms themselves? Does the Pokeform of the mother determine it, or is it the closest thing in between? Would this possibly result in a Were-Mon like Crewe?

Re: Dune's "How the Eff would that work?" Thread

It's be a regular human, I think. Pokeform may be different. It's essentially no different than two humans.

3

Re: Dune's "How the Eff would that work?" Thread

I believe we decided that any children born of such unions would be regular humans, though they may be able to understand Monese. Pokéform would probably be dependent on the same factors as a regular human.

...

I'm reminded of a certain line of questioning pertaining to Ranma 1/2...

Re: Dune's "How the Eff would that work?" Thread

What Straw and Tagg said, probably. If that's the case, though, the same situation with them as Pokemon could result in the child's human form looking completely different from the parents', correct?

Re: Dune's "How the Eff would that work?" Thread

If their pokeforms are incompatible, there's no way for them to have an egg. If they are, same egg logic applies.

Also, I would recommend NOT getting into what happens when a pregnant person goes into their Pokeform.

7

Re: Dune's "How the Eff would that work?" Thread

Alright. Awesome. Also, HINT HINT I might be developing something for later based on this. Also, Time Travel may or may not be involved but I'll try and make it so it isn't. I doubt I'll be able to, though.

Also, Pregnant!Pokeforming is probably a question that's best left un-delved.

Next Question:

What would happen if a Pokemon that isn't an Auric Type (Fighting, Ghost, Dark, Psychic) is a Soul of Silver? Would it just be a case of "Oh hey, that's unusual, but otherwise just fine" or would the Soul have different abilities or proficiencies than a normal member of it's species beyond the regular perks of being a Soul?

8

Re: Dune's "How the Eff would that work?" Thread

Yeah, they'd be regular humans. That's how it would be with Arikrome in my retirement post.

And I suspect nothing different.

My girlfriend is a Volcarona, your argument is invalid.

9

Re: Dune's "How the Eff would that work?" Thread

Not all Souls have Auric powers anyway. Forte is one, and doesn't have anything like that.

Re: Dune's "How the Eff would that work?" Thread

I think the only case we've had of a Pokemon wielding an Auric type that wasn't its usual type was Edge and he ended up being formerly human, so don't know. It wouldn't surprise me if there had ever existed, say, a Bellsprout that could use Dark Obscura, though it would be kind of rare and I'm not expecting it to show up IRP anytime soon.

But what Mezzo said. And said Bellsprout wouldn't necessarily be a Soul.

Re: Dune's "How the Eff would that work?" Thread

Neat-o. I just might request to have Cun Annwn be a Soul at a later date, after he's had some more development.

Next Question!

According to Bulbapedia, using Helping Hand in a Triple Battle on the same target more than once stacks.

What sort of mayhem could be caused by a large amount of mons using Helping Hand on the same target? I.e. What would happen if, say, a band of Lillipup all decided to use Helping Hand on a single Pikachu?

Re: Dune's "How the Eff would that work?" Thread

GIGACHU would happen. RUN.

Re: Dune's "How the Eff would that work?" Thread

Pretty much just having the next attack be an extremely powerful one, I'd think.

Doesn't sound especially practical, though.

Re: Dune's "How the Eff would that work?" Thread

Well, if you have a bunch of Pokémon use Helping Hand on a Gigalith, Golem or something like that you could get an Explosion that would be basically be a nuclear bomb. It's rather counter-productive though =P

15

Re: Dune's "How the Eff would that work?" Thread

The mass Helping Hand thing seems like a good idea for a team of Eeveelutions to do. Just have all of them team up on the one that's effective against whatever type it is. Maybe I should try that with Forte's team sometime...

Re: Dune's "How the Eff would that work?" Thread

Hmmm... this has just given me an idea. After all, Inka's gonna need all the Help(ing hands) she can get if she's going to go purge the Dragon Paradise.

Re: Dune's "How the Eff would that work?" Thread

So, Awesome But Impractical. Except under certain circumstances, in which case it causes tons of damage.

Next Question!

Time Travel is definitely a Thing in WAAPT. Just how often does it happen, and has a Legendary ever pulled a Mew and gone "Oh my goodness, you're in danger! Let me just rip you from this time and toss you back X amount of years into the past where you aren't in immediate life-threatening danger"? Have Legendaries, if somehow communicated with, taken requests for Time Travel before/will take requests in the past/present/future?

18

Re: Dune's "How the Eff would that work?" Thread

Well, hopefully Time-Traveling Legendaries have more foresight than a certain Mew.

That said, Celebi did send Forte back in time to Ransei out of concern that a time loop needed completing. (It may well have been unnecessary though. :P)

Re: Dune's "How the Eff would that work?" Thread

Just for a good example of a time-travelling-blues of a mess, ask about Nadia. And that's all I have to say on the matter because I still can't wrap my head about the whole of it :p

20

Re: Dune's "How the Eff would that work?" Thread

Celebi sending someone back in time for Time Loop reasons has been used before, that I know of. Nadia, however, "was created by a time paradox"? How did that happen?

21

Re: Dune's "How the Eff would that work?" Thread

See? Simple:

Read this page & next for textual account.

Mew & Celebi got a little mad at each other for that.

Re: Dune's "How the Eff would that work?" Thread

I think this thread probably could go into the OOC and Discussion section.

Re: Dune's "How the Eff would that work?" Thread

... Oh. Huh.

At least now know there's actual precedence for this kind of thing.

EDIT: I'm fine with it being moved wherever it'll fit best.

Re: Dune's "How the Eff would that work?" Thread

Double post because

Next Question!

So, Dune's outer mind is a ravaged wasteland of scar tissue and constant "storms" of raging mental debris caused by him being attacked by some ancient being that he accidentally woke up. This originally came from the random decision that it would be interesting if Dune was deaf to telepathy. It's already been established that his Aura is perfectly readable, and that his mind is well defended against outside threats due to his "censor" becoming both hypersensitive and extremely powerful.

Would this affect the way he interacts with other mental-based abilities?
