Eskay: <~Of course I did. You were here, after all.~>

He turns toward Totem and Houdini

Eskay: <I wasn't actually planning on breaking either of you, by the way. You did all that work for nothing.>

Re: PEFE-B: The Part Where He Kills Us

Totem and Houdini cough uncomfortably. "What work? That was fun. We're nice guys and stuff."

Psyche smiles. ~That's good to hear.~ She continues cuddling.

Eskay shrugs and goes back to cuddling with Psyche.

Skye gets that lonely feeling again.

Selene comes over to Skye. "Eh, don't worry about it too much. You'll find someone soon."

Psyche looks up. ~So, what did we have planned for today?~

Skye: (To Selene) <I know... but knowing that it'll be "soon" will just make it seem that much longer...>

Eskay: (To Psyche) <~Well, first we find the rest of the group that was around here. We'll work from there.~>

Re: PEFE-B: The Part Where He Kills Us

Selene sighs. "Yeah, I know... The stars keep telling me I'll find someone too... But a Gothorita lives a long time. 'Soon' for us could be anywhere from a few weeks to a century. In human years, I'm about 56. It sucks."

Psyche: ~All right, sounds good.~

Psyche trots behind happily.

Totem and Houdini continue looking around nervously... "We've got a bad feeling about this..."

Gala-dad is unnerved a bit as well.

In the Superstructure - PEFE-That-Was

-The group is progressing down a corridor when they hear a familiar voice-

Cornn: "FOR ARCEUS' SAKE, YOU'RE BOXES WITH LEGS! IT IS LITERALLY YOUR ONLY PURPOSE! WALKING ONTO BUTTONS! HOW CAN YOU NOT DO THE ONE THING YOU WERE DESIGNED FOR?!"

<Riana: "Huh?">

-And enter an observation room with what appear to be cubes with legs haphazardly melded together with turrets, chittering and moving about at random around a button, with the image of a certain personality core occupying an overlooking screen-

Cornn: "WARMER, WARRRRMER, BOILING HOT, BOILING- OKAY, COLDER, ICE COLD. VERY VERY VERY COLD. LOOK, JUST GET ON THE BUTTON!"

<"... Oh, so that's what he's been up to when he hasn't been putting you through moronic tests, Lake.">

Cornn: "OH, THAT'S FUNNY IS IT? BECAUSE WE'VE BEEN AT THIS FOR TWELVE HOURS, AND YOU HAVEN'T SOLVED IT EITHER, SO I DON'T KNOW WHY YOU'RE LAUGHING! YOU'VE GOT ONE HOUR! SOLVE IT!"

-And the screen turns off-

PEFeDOS: "OH, SINCE YOU'RE HERE AND NOT DOING ANYTHING."

-And seals off the doors along the corridor, preventing us from escaping-

<Pepper: "AH!">

<Lardna: "HEY! You're supposed to be a potato right now!">

PEFeDOS: "SOLVE THIS PUZZLE FOR HIM. WHEN HE GETS BACK, I'LL HIT HIM WITH A PARADOX."

Stratus: <Does she really expect us to trust her?>

Lake: <Hey, we might as well humor her. If we're lucky, perhaps she'll get rid of Cornn for us before we take her down. Would make things a lot easier.>

Stratus: <Assuming she doesn't kill us first.>

Lake and Stratus jump down into the chamber, the Dragonite cautiously picking up one of the odd cubes, which curls up and twitches with fright in his paws.

<Whoa! What are these things?!>

Lake: <They look like what would happen if you mashed a cube and some turrets together. It's creepy...>

Stratus: <Yeah, creepy...in a cute way...>

Easing up a bit, Stratus places the Frakencube down on the button (on it's back so that it couldn't get up again. Not to be cruel, but because they wouldn't be able to complete the test otherwise).

<That should do it.>

A Test Chamber in PEFE-That-Was

-The screen flickers back to life as we climb down after Lake and Stratus-

Cornn: HA HA. YES! I KNEW YOU'D SOLVE IT!

PEFeDOS: HEY! MORON!

Cornn: "OH. HELLO."

PEFeDOS: "ALRIGHT. PARADOX TIME. THIS. SENTENCE. IS. FALSE! (DON'T THINK ABOUT IT DON'T THINK ABOUT IT...)"

Cornn: "UM. 'TRUE' I'LL GO 'TRUE'. HUH. THAT WAS EASY. I'LL BE HONEST, I MIGHT HAVE HEARD THAT ONE BEFORE THOUGH, SORT OF CHEATING."

PEFeDOS: "IT'S A PARADOX! THERE IS NO ANSWER! LOOK! THIS PLACE IS GOING TO BLOW UP IF YOU DON'T STOP GETTING IN MY WAY!"

Cornn: "AHHHHH. 'FALSE'. I'LL GO 'FALSE'."

P.A.: "WARNING. REACTOR CORE IS AT-"

Cornn: "HOLD ON, I THOUGHT I FIXED THAT."

P.A.: "CRITICAL TEMP-" *kzzt*

<All: ._.>

<"(Someone wasn't kidding about him coming up with terrible ideas...)">

Cornn: "THERE. FIXED. HEY, IT IS GREAT SEEING YOU GUYS AGAIN. SERIOUSLY. AS IT TURNS OUT I HAD A BIG SURPRISE FOR THE FERALIGATR AND DRAGONITE. SO THIS WORKS OUT PERFECT."

-And some wall panels retract to allow us passage through a door to an elevator-

Cornn: "ANNNNND OFF WE GO!"

-As we proceed to the elevator-

<Toothless: "(... I don't think that I like where this is going...)">

Re: PEFE-B: The Part Where He Kills Us

Lake: <Same here, Toothless.>

Stratus shudders.

Stratus: <He said it was for me and Lake in particular...Just what is he planning?>

Lake: <Given his track record? Probably nothing pleasant...but it's not like we've got much choice, so we might as well play along for the time being.>

The Feraligatr plods towards the exit, Stratus following somewhat nervously.

Stratus: <It's okay, you're a Dragonite. You beat a Mewtwo. There's nothing that can't stop you. yeah...>

Re: PEFE-B: The Part Where He Kills Us

PEFE-That-Was - Testing Chambers

-A short and impossibly cramped elevator ride later, we find ourselves entering a room with the ledge with the door and a ledge with a switch on a podium and a button suspended from the ceiling over a portalable floor patch that isn't visible from our vantage point along with the exit separated by a short distance... Over a seemingly bottomless pit. A spinning blue contraption lies along the walls of the pit, generating a translucent blue tube that carries on into a wall. There are some portalable surfaces lying around in patches along the pit's side... Without any obvious way to get out of them. An alcove next to the platform with the exit along these surfaces' level has a portalable floor.

Cornn: "YEAH... MADE THIS TEST MYSELF. OUT OF SOME SMALLER TESTS THAT I FOUND. LYING AROUND. JAMMED 'EM ALL TOGETHER. BUTTONS. GOT FUNNELS. BOTTOMLESS PITS ARE INVOLVED. IT'S GOT IT ALL. IT'S ABSOLUTE DYNAMITE."

PEFeDOS: "I'D LOVE TO HELP YOU SOLVE THE TESTS. BUT I CAN'T. SORRY. YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN. ALSO, FLYING IS CHEATING AND WILL BE TREATED ACCORDINGLY."

Cornn: "HEY! MY TEST CHAMBER, MY RULES!"

<Toothless: "... We can't fly for this test?" ._.>

-And we stare blankly at the pit-

Cornn: "... ALRIGHT, THIS IS TAKING TOO LONG. I'LL JUST TELL YOU HOW TO SOLVE THE TEST. YOU SEE THAT BUTTON OVER THERE? YOU JUST NEED TO-ARRRRRGH!"

PEFeDOS: "AND THAT'S WHY I CAN'T HELP YOU SOLVE THESE TESTS."

Cornn: "UNGH... UNGH... NEVERMIND. NEVERMIND. SOLVE IT YOURSELF. YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN."

<"Great...">

Re: PEFE-B: The Part Where He Kills Us

Stratus: <Eurgh. Why don't you just cut our wings off if you don't want us t- NO WAIT, DON'T DO THAT! DON'T DO THAT!>

As Stratus hopes that he didn't give either of the two computers any nasty ideas, Lake cautiously pears over the wall, noticing that the tractor beam - of the same design of the ones that almost caught them as they were escaping yesterday, was firing at patch of portal-able wall.

Lake: <Hmm...hey, Stratus? Could I borrow the Portal gun for a sec?>

Stratus: <You've got an idea?>

Lake nods as the Dragonite hands the portal device over to him.

Lake: <Yeah. Back in a second...>

With that, Lake takes a deep breath...and jumps off the platform, seemingly into the abyss, obviously shocking Stratus, and most likely everymon else.

Stratus: <HEY! SUICIDE IS NEVER THE ANSWER!>

296

Re: PEFE-B: The Part Where He Kills Us

Contrary to what everymon else was thinking, Lake was not committing suicide, but jumping into the tractor beam below, which caught him and carried him along, suspended weightlessly inside. It felt kind of odd, like floating underwater except without being wet.

Lake: <Okay, if I've got this right...>

Taking aim with the Portal Gun, he shoots one portal at the panel he was being pushed towards, then turned and fired another at the panels on the far right wall. As he had expected, the tractor beam extended through the newly opened hole, pushing him through and out from the far wall.

<Now where do I go from here? Oh!>

Seeing another portal-able panel on the left, he shot another portal, linking it to the tractor beam and changing it's direction, which meant he was now being pushed over to a small platform with another panel set on it's floor.

Waiting until he was floating above it, he shot one more portal, which changed the direction of the beam once more so that it was now pushing him up to the platform with the button, allowing him to jump out and onto it safely.

<There we go! Easy as pie!>

Stratus: <Oh! Okay then...>

Somewhat nervously, the Dragonite jumps down into the tractor beam, floating through the portal and up the other side, before jumping out onto the platform, much like Lake had done.

<Oh! That was...actually pretty fun...>
