Hello everyone.

Those of you who have known me for long enough likely know that I have been in the world of Pokémon fanfiction for a good while. It started sometime in 2009, with stories such as Sixth and Playfield, from which our beloved characters, Eltenios and Lileep, were drawn and drafted into the RP (with a stop at Wild Pokémon in the Big City for Eltenios for a redesign).

Since then, a lot of stories have been published, or at least have been undergoing some work. The WAAPT roleplay has, by virtue of its design and the timing of my participation cameo, become a sort of early debut stage of many a character who would or are set to later appear in some of my stories. Inka, Shahinne, Tephros, Squall, the trio of Ichtacya, Foreign!mence and Foreign!oose, or some more convoluted cases like the brothers Vinollo and Rize who were originally intended for a Bambi fanfic; all of them have lives and stories of their own waiting to come under the light and take center stage.

The progress across the years working on those characters and stories comes, of course, with the work of worldbuilding an interpretation of the Pokémon World where they can function. Meta foundations cast the first time circa 2009 with the release of Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver, have turned into a world with particular mechanics, cultures and history that at least some players have been made privvy to, in various degrees. So it is the time for this world to step into the light.

The Suocéverse

Imagine a world described by the power of countless eye creatures, where energy has Types and lifeforms have evolved to connect to and synthesize different Types of energy, where certain creatures have grown to master even mysterious, mystical powers separated from the typing phenomena.

A world where humans, Pokémon and other mysterious lifeforms have managed to coexist together. A world originally inhabited by Pokémon who after a strife lost to the rift of time, now welcome the human race as a special neighbour.

Thanks to an ancient covenant between early human and Pokémon civilizations, a world that nowadays has the tradition known as Pokémon training, or more formally, the Hero's Trainer's Journey, where children set out to adventure with a partner Pokémon by their side and strike deals with the wild Pokémon population for training and glory in exchange for their assistance and company. A journey where, if you wear your hat tight, you might even smite evil bust your local criminal team or two.

This is the world where my stories are taking place. All individual Pokémon content I have published so far is being reformatted to take place in this continuity, including stories such as my Serebii contest entries Built for Risk and Overlord.

This is a world where a powerful and committed Trainer can become "The Champion", a figure revered by both human and Pokémon nations and encompassing those traits we seek in the fabled "Pokémon Master".

This is a world where Silver's starter is a Nido.

This is a world where Canon!Silent lives, where Algira and Squall work with an industrial spy, where Eltenios is a courier for the Gerbil or Muskedeer du jour, this is a world where a less Megacorp-y but still "big good"-aligned version of PEFE is in. And thanks to ORAS making Pokémon a canon multiverse, it might be a world where your Suocéverse interpretation of your characters live, and even be a world having a certain degree of linkage to WAAPT as a whole.

Getting Involved

So, do you want to learn of this world? Maybe even be part of it? (Some of you guys already are, in a way, but I'm now more formally opening the option; keep reading) That's now possible thanks to the fact that I am setting up development documents, and a soon to be ready development wiki, for interested people to check and review.

The documents available at the moment (Feb 2016) in their design stage include:

* Suocéverse Primer, detailing the very basics and the "big differences" / "one big lie"s of Suocéverse compared to other interpretations of the Pokémon world
* Suocéverse Themes [comment mode open], delving into those concepts that are already part of the usual Pokémon worldbuilding such as the canon regions, Pokémon training and that kind of stuff. Basically a refresher course.
* Suocéverse Concepts [view only; request permission for comment mode], delving into various introduced concepts in more detail. Typed Energy, EX Branding, Limit Breaks, the Trainer's Journey, the Pokémon nations, the roles of Legendaries, various things will be explained there.
* Present Time Chronology [view only; request permission for comment mode], detailing how this verse's events relate to those in the mainline games.
* Suocéverse Creation Myth (in preparation)
* References Masterlist (in preparation)
* "Cameoing" (in preparation)

It's just a matter of you sending me a word, I'm usually reachable when I'm in the chatrooms, and I can get you the adequate link or permission in the case of Google Docs. If, when the time comes, I want to open positions for cameos within this continuity I'll also let you guys know.

All kinds of involvement are welcome, in particular considering I suck at visual arts, and if you contribute something valuable you are of course going to be credited accordingly.

Will there be opportunities for cameoing?

Ahem...

Long story short: YES. (Once again, remember: some of you already do :p)

Short story long, I of course don't wanna hog all the fun (and interesting character concepts!) for myself. Many of you guys do a pretty good job with characters and concepts. However, since this is a different verse, where the rules and the history run a bit differently to that of the mainline games (let alone WAAPT), cameos would have to be done under certain considerations.

As a fair warning, and getting straight to the point: this 'verse already has its "actors", be them main or secondary - some of you have already met [two] of [them] even. Your characters, or interpretations thereof for cameoing, might get involved in things but are not going to be the Main Characters, as such don't expect WAAPT levels of character relevance for plots going on, except for certain events to be discussed on a per-case basis.

Most importantly: the chronology of Suocéverse itself is divergent to that of the mainline games and of the WAAPTverse to different degrees. While the events of most games take place, in particular everything from Gen1 to Gen4, and while I intend for the premises of the anime movies to be "canon in general terms", the timeframes for most events are going to be different. For example, in the Suocéverse chronology:

* The events of the Team Rocket reveal happen in a span of 6-8 months, but Red and Gary had been already travelling for at least a whole year by this point.
* The events of Hoenn in Gen3 follow more closely the depiction seen in Emerald, and take place in a timeframe of about two years, though heavily compressed towards the end.
* The premises of Movies 1 (Mewtwo going on a plan for world domination) and 5 (Latiis protecting the island of Alto Mare) both take place at a time of about 1 yr right after Gen3.
* The premises of Movies 10 and 11 (Dialga, Palkia and Giratina) would be basically condensed into the Team Galactic plot events taking place ~2-3 years after Gen3.
* The premise of Movie 11 (someone nabbing a megaship and trying to hunt Giratina down) would not take place up until ~4-7 years after the events of X/Y.

Given that most stories published so far in the Suocéverse focus on a timeframe of 4 to 1 year before the events of Generation 3, that means the characters you cameo with are more likely going to be about the same amount of time younger than their WAAPT counterparts, if not even more because of the details of WAAPT's timeline. But worry not, these issues can be dealt with in... *sunshades* time.

Now... Some people have already positions open for their characters to be a thing in this world, by virtue of having already showed up in previous stories or being related to them

* Tracer (involved in PEFE backstory and characters featured in Built for Risk)
* Tagg (involved in PEFE backstory and because of the existence of Shahinne)
* Tangent (involved in PEFE backstory)
* Honchkrow (characters featured in Built for Risk)
* Mezzopiano (characters featured in Built for Risk and Unfit)
* Every (character featured in Built for Risk)
* Umbramatic (characters featured in Built for Risk)

For these people I'm opening the option of discussing their involvement further as well as revalidating or editing your appearances in the stories published so far for when they are rewritten, even with the option of, if you for some reason desire it, removing your involvement altogether.

For everyone else, feel welcome to ask, in particular once the Present Time Chronology document is open for commentary, for ways your characters can cameo. Most likely there will be a Tournament Arc at some point (hey, what's a Journeyfic without a tournament arc?). And if you are interested I can always look for cameo openings in oneshots that come up where available.

Getting WAAPT Involved

Now... this one gets a bit more complicated. I know what you are asking yourself in the recesses of your mind:

If there is a canon multiverse and Silent and PEFE exist in both verses... are they related?

And this, m'dears...

Is a question that is not for me to answer.

If the WAAPT community decides, over time, that the Suocéverse makes sense as linked to the WAAPT verse, in more or less the same way as Tagg's Northern Shadow and Umbramatic's upcoming Heroes After All can have ties of different degrees to the WAAPT verse, then by all means I'm open for it, and we can discuss the mechanics for such things to happen. In the meantime, I envision that a modified version of the events of my upcoming story, Interim, dealing in part with the the aftereffects of the fall of Pokefutures, would be canon to WAAPT's backstory.

Interim?

Yes, I'm working on a sort of "Suocéverse prequel" story. Titled "Interim", it deals with the region of Suocé, where Canon!Silent hails from, and how various important characters in it are affected by the fall of Pokefutures and other settings-specifc events.

Of course, you are welcome to ask to see the outline and betaread cometh the time, but a fair notice: if there are cameo positions available, they will be for Pokémon only, not humans, and the characters would have to have ages ranging from 8 to 4 years younger than their current WAAPT incarnations. For those getting a read of the outline it's here [open to comment].
