Phoenix: <But which superhero costume would that be? There have been a lot on the news, lately.>
Jacob: -Points- OBJECTION! Does the defense honestly not know who they're defending? It's the Auric Avenger! There is only one! And before pushing down this line of questioning, the prosecution requests a purpose for further inquiries into the matter of the costume and it's pertinence to the case. He just admitted it's his and he made it, and he fits the criteria necessary to be the Avenger.
-Lucius blinks at Phoenix, then turns to the court officials.-
Lucius: ...Remember when I asked for an attorney with a law degree? I take it back. I'll happily settle for any uneducated bum you happen to drag off of the streets as long as they've actually read the case files.
-Ren doesn't object but does raise an eyebrow at Lucius' statement about the costumes.-
-Ren listen quietly to Herbert's testimony until a shifty looking man sits next to him.-
Mr. Fox: Hello, Mr. Clavis. Fancy meeting you here.
Ren: -jolts at the synthesized voice- Fox! What the heck are you doing here?
Mr. Fox: The same reason you're here I assume, Mr Clavis. I wanted to ensure Mr. Cain comes out of this okay.
Ren: Well the way this is heading, he needs all the support he can get.
-Phoenix points in return-
Phoenix: <OBJECTION!>
<Even if the witness fits the criteria for the Avenger, do you have any proof he i->
-He stops-
<...It says that in the case files?>
-He takes a look over the case file and notes that it says Lucius is indeed the Avenger-
<...Er>
<...Objection withdrawn.>
Jacob: .......
-Facepalmheaddesks-
Continue your cross examination.
Phoenix: <...Anyway, next, could you give more information on these 'shifty-looking characters?'>
Xeno: It seems as though the defense attorney doesn't quite have it together.
PEFE!Every: It's unfortunate.
Lucius: (...Hmm. On the one hand, if I mention aliens I'll sound insane... on the other, that could get me declared legally unfit to stand trial, so I guess I'll go for it.)
-He nods at Phoenix.-
Lucius: Yeah, I can do that. They called themselves Sol and Ton. Male and female, respectively. One had a Breloom, the other a Klefki. I only met them twice - once when they offered me the job, and once for the debriefing with their employer, Clyde. He was an Ampharos. An Ampharos from outer space, specifically. It wasn't until I'd been brought aboard their spaceship that I got cold feet and backed out.
Ren: What.
Mr Fox: What.
Keys: -Plays canned murmurs.-
Jacob: Well in that case obviously the Gaim Rahm was of some interest to alien life. Makes sense, backing out at that point. Any objections, Mr. Flight?
Phoenix: <Hm... Do you know any more about this Space Ampharos?>
-Lucius shakes his head.-
Lucius: I was a little too preoccupied with the whole "alien" thing to notice any further identifying details.
Phoenix: <Alright...>
<Then, next could you tell us more about what the Gaim Rahm was?>
-Lucius shrugs.-
Lucius: It's some kinda... repertoire of human knowledge or something like that? I dunno how you use it or what it does, assuming that it even does anything at all. My job was just to steal it, so that's what I did.
Ren: -quietly so only those on the defense's side can hear if they want- But isn't that the "akashic records", not the "gaim rahm"?
Mr Fox: You make it sound like it's real Mr. Clav— Oh yeah. J-Team.
Polly: -fell off the bench at the mention of Space Ampharos and the Gaim Rahm, but gets back up-
Evangeline: <Do we know any Clyde..?>
Gavel: Bang!
Polly: *ahem* Anyways...
What I am curious about... what new information aboard the spaceship led you to reconsider your earlier position? Namely, that stealing the Gam- er... artifact, and research prototypes, was justified?
-Lucius does hear Ren's comment about the akashic records, but given that he's never heard of any such thing, he passes it over. Instead, he bows his head in response to Polly's question.-
Lucius: ...To tell you the truth, I didn't actually start to regret my actions until several days after the whole spaceship ordeal. The only reason I refused to hand the Gaim Rahm over to them was because introducing aliens into the equation was a curveball I wasn't ready to deal with. I realised that I was way out of my depth, so I pulled out.
Polly: Several days afterwards?
Lucius: Immediately following an attack on a Neo-Galactic facility. The same incident which resulted in Titan's arrest.
-Lawrence closes his eyes at the memory of the event.-
Ren: And thanks for informing me about that Fox.
Mr.Fox: -shrugs- It's one of the things you asked me to do Mr.Clavis.
Ren: At least with Neo Galactic out of the picture, Mammor is no longer a threat.
Mr.Fox: I'm surprised you're still alive when you constantly say things like that.
Phoenix: <HOLD IT!>
<...The incident that resulted in Titan's arrest?>
Let's hope this isn't a part of the court records too...
-Crow, meanwhile overhears Ren-
Murcrow: <それは違うよ。>
<Uh... I mean, Neo-Galactic isn't gone, it's still being run by the admins and I think Mammor's the head now.>
Ren: -hearing Crow, looks a cross between worried and anger with a touch of fear- Ugh... ... ... Well... There's something to put gray hairs on my head.
Mr.Fox: You say that like it's a bad thing, Mr. Clavis.
-Lucius nods at Phoenix.-
Lucius: I went to the Neo-Galactic facility with the intention to bring Titan in for arrest. He agreed to submit to my authority provided that he got medical treatment for his Infernape, which he did. There was a big punch-up too, but that's not really relevant to this case. He's here now, and he's going to be punished. Right?
Ren: Lucius, unless this court holds international weight, your father will have to stand trial in an appropriate court.
