Topic: The Ancient Inscriptions II: Abbyfall

Abbyfall references

* Abby is transported to PMD-B Hoenn.
* Abby agrees to help get to the bottom of events in Slateport regarding the death of King Lysandus.

Hoenn-B (Likely months before the current time period of the RP)

(After this post)

Peng the Swablu♂: -Getting a little irritated- <Hey, guys? I have another letter for you from another royal jerk.>

2

Re: The Ancient Inscriptions II: Abbyfall

Rojos: -confiding to Peng- <I'm not sure which of us has the worse job here...>

Abigail: -looking a bit sleepless- <Fine... what's the deal this time?>

Kat: <What's with Abby here? She's been a bit... secretive>

Rising Star: <We need to keep an eye on her...>

Sanity is precious; use it sparingly.

Re: The Ancient Inscriptions II: Abbyfall

Peng: -Producing the letter out of his fluff-  <The Bay man, the Bay...>

The letter reads:

Dear Abigail and Rojos,

Your presence in our court is desired before the end of the next season. Prince Lhotun has recommended you with high praise. I await your arrival.

Akorithi

Queen of the Mirage Kingdom

Re: The Ancient Inscriptions II: Abbyfall

Rojos: ... <Well, the desert isn't all bad...>

Abigail: <Kinda hot... and didn't they kill their own prince in a dungeon?> ._.

<I mean, Lhotun seemed decent and all, but...>

Aside

-the Marowak are still trying to puzzle out Abby's recent behavior-

Rising Star: <Think that whole story about Lysandus upset her?>

Kat: <What, you think she's projecting the mate-has-a-sorceress-mistress-she-banishes-to-Sky-Pillar story onto insecurities about not seeing Thresher lately?>

<...I hope that's not a common worry among kids these days...> ._.

Rising Star: <I guess she was like this before we heard the story about Mynisera's cursing Medora, anyways...>

Sanity is precious; use it sparingly.

Re: The Ancient Inscriptions II: Abbyfall

Mirage Kingdom, some time later

-Team Abigail is brought into the throne room of the castle-

Akorithi: -Is behind a veil obscuring her species- <Abigail and Rojos! And savages. Welcome to the Mirage Kingdom, I trust you have had a comfortable stay so far.>

-Before anyone can answer-

<Let me get right to the point. My son, Prince Lhotun, says you are a well respected and trusted duo of mons. I have need of your sort and am willing to pay you and your...friends a large sum to infiltrate Castle Mauville for me. Will you do it?>

6

Re: The Ancient Inscriptions II: Abbyfall

Kat: Savages?!

Rising Star: Hey, from the likes of the kingdoms around here, I'd be more worried if they thought us civilized.

Abigail: ...very well.

Rojos: This kind of intrigue... is getting way too normal. It's nice being valued and all, but... I don't know what mom would think if she found out I was taking on ninja jobs now...

Sanity is precious; use it sparingly.

Re: The Ancient Inscriptions II: Abbyfall

Akorithi: -Happily- <What Bounty!>

-Continues-

<There is an item, a painting, that is hidden somewhere within Castle Mauville. I desire this item for reasons you need not
worry about. Bring it to me and I will pay your tidy sum.>

Re: The Ancient Inscriptions II: Abbyfall

Abigail: What sort of painting?

Rojos: Well, at least art thievery is glamorous...

Rising Star: Do you want the original, or a copy?

...

I mean... if you just take the lore in it, it wouldn't be missed, right?

Sanity is precious; use it sparingly.

Re: The Ancient Inscriptions II: Abbyfall

Akorithi: -To Abigail- It's a concern of royalty, not the masses.

-To Rising Star-

Anything but the original would be useless to me.

10

Re: The Ancient Inscriptions II: Abbyfall

Rising Star: -shrugs-

Abigail: No, I mean, how do we know which painting to bring back?

Sanity is precious; use it sparingly.

11

Re: The Ancient Inscriptions II: Abbyfall

Akorithi: It's by itself in a certain room, you'll see no other paintings.

Re: The Ancient Inscriptions II: Abbyfall

[spoiler]Special thanks to Tangent for spagging this with me

Castle Mauville Depths

-The area Abigail, Rojos, and a Cubone pair have entered is rather mazelike and filled with feral mons, and the occasional guard-

Rojos: <Wow… a lot of searching to do here...>

Kat: <Yeah. Perhaps we should split up?>

Rising Star: <Into pairs I trust?> -winking-

Kat: <Yep~>

Abigail: <Fine, fine… you go right, we’ll take the left branch.>

Rising Star: <Have your Flygon friend slam the ground three times if you find anything? We’ll use the same signal.>

Rojos: <I guess I can do that...>

-The parties head their separate ways-

Castle Mauville Depths, Left Branch

-Some aggressive feral Golbat make an appearance, one wearing a Power Band-

Abigail: -nursing a bit of a headache- <ugh… can you trip them up with a Sandstorm?>

Rojos: <Uh… sure.>

-He beats his wings, casting up the dust along the passage-

<...but aren’t you an Ice-type?>

Power Band!Golbat: -Blinded- <I can’t see!>

Normal!Golbat: -Exasperated- <We’re bats, we don’t need to see, remember?>

-And the Golbat use echolocation-

Abigail: <Whatever, this weresow stuff does not help me think straight, and this noise makes it worse!>

-She Blizzards the Golbat cloud-

Power Band!Golbat: <Oh no, not the ic-Frozen, with the rest of his cloud-

Abigail: <Good, that annoyance is dealt with.>

Rojos: <...We have got to do something about that Mamoswine thing…>

Abigail: <Ya think?>

-They press on-

Castle Mauville Depths, A Storeroom

-Within the storeroom is a single painting guarded by a single sleeping Gabite wearing the crest of Mauville-

Guard!Gabite: <zZz….No Princess Morgiah, anything but the Eelektrik pit…zZz…>

Rojos: <...Sheesh, they do not know how to motivate guards here ._.;>

<Can we be sneaky?>

Guard!Gabite: -Is out like a light-

Rojos: <...Guess so...>

Abigail: <Mrmble.>

-As Abigail and Rojos get closer, the scene in the painting shifts and twists, showing the inside of a tent. Several mons in the livery of Mauville are intensely debating with a mon bearing the coat of arms of Slateport on his scarf. One of the Mauville mons slips behind the Daggerfall mon and stabs him between his ribs. The image fades as the life ebbs from
his body-

Rojos: ._.

<...What was all that about?!>

Guard!Gabite: -Starts waking up slowly, his back turned- <Huh, what was that?>

-A door opens behind Abigail and Rojos, leading to what appears to be a refuse tunnel-

Rojos: < Run!>

Abigail: -Follows Rojos out the pipe-

Mirage Kingdom, Queen Akorithi’s Palace

Queen Akorithi: -Still hidden behind her veil- <So I see you were successful. I must ask, did you take a look at the painting at all?>

Rojos: <What… was it? ._.>

Abigail: <It made my headache worse… >_> >

Queen Akorithi: -With a tone of voice pretty much saying that she won’t be explaining much- <What you saw is not for the prying eyes of the masses. It concerns matters of royalty and will be dealt with by royalty. Regardless, here is your payment.>

-And Abigail and Rojos gain Schrodinger’s Gifts-

Re: The Ancient Inscriptions II: Abbyfall

[spoiler]Expanding a bit on what they were discussing here: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?di … 544#188580

Castle Mauville, sometime before the previous events

-Team Nova is currently looking for more work-

Doc: <According to the mons back in town, this would be the best place to find work in the area.>

Limna: -Flaring up- <Good, it means more butts to kick.>

Crochet: <True, but couldn't we find someplace a bit more...moral?>

???: <Looking for work, you say?>

Doc: -Whirls around- <Who's there?>

???: -From the shadows- <Just me.>

-And the figure reveals itself to be a female Delcatty-

Thresher: <So you're, what, one of those nobles?>

Delcatty: -Unamused- <And you should hold your tongue Ferrothorn, or something...unfortunate might happen to you.

-With practiced cheer-

<But yes, I am. Princess Elysana of Mauville, pleased to meet your acquaintance.>

Doc: -Shivers- <I get the feeling she could probably have that happen to us very easily. I'm kinda confused, isn't the Princess of Mauville a Liepard?>

Elysana: <You must be talking about my stepsister Morgiah, how I despise that mon....>

Crochet: <You're no prize yourself. So do you have any work for us?>

Elysana: -Giving the same kind of leer a cat gives when they've found suitable prey- <For a group of children, I have the perfect job for you.>

-Has a servant Flaffy bring in a scarf with Mauville's crest on it-

<You will give this to my fiancee Lord Castellian in a cottage not too far from here. Do so, and you will be rewarded handsomely.>

Limna: <Isn't that the same guy Helseth had us give that letter to? You know, the one about blac-Gets silenced by Thresher-

Doc: -Suspicious- <There's a catch, Tagg taught me there's always a catch. We'll do it.>

Victini: -Currently invisible- <Guys, that Elysana mon's dangerous, be careful.>

Doc: -Walking out with the others- <Yeah, which is why we're just doing this and getting out before she makes us do something like sell our souls to a Daedra or something.>

Somewhere in Hoenn

-The Manectric in question haughtily looks down at the children that have entered his cottage-

Lord Castellian: <What are you urchin rabble doing here? Hasn't Prince Helseth embarrassed me enough?>

Crochet: -Putting on a smile that she's not exactly feeling- <Your fiancee Princess Elysana asked us to deliver this scarf to you.>

Lord Castellian: <She asked you to do this? Weird, but oh well, give her my regards when you return.>

-And puts on the scarf...which turns out to have had a Dremora bound to it-

<What in the wo-ACK!>

-And Lord Castellian becomes Ex-Lord Castellian as the Daedra departs-

Doc: <W-What just happened?>

-At which moment a contingent of guards enters the cottage...and looks at Team Nova, then at the mutilated body, and then at Team Nova again-

Guard Captain!Ampharos: <Murderers!>

-To the other guards-

<Apprehend Lord Castellian's murderers!>

Guard!Druddigon: <HALT! HALT! HALT! HALT! HALT!>

Thresher: -Iron Heads a Druddigon into the Ampharos, leaving them both dazed- <Doc, we need to get out of here!>

Limna: -Kicks away a Gabite through the window- <No way, I've been itching for a fight!>

Doc: -Tugging on Limna's arm as the others jump out the convenient window- <I'm sure you're not itching to get your head cut off!>

Limna: <Fine, fine...>

-And jumps after the others-

Castle Mauville

-Team Nova files in, looking rather perturbed-

Doc: -Angrily to Princess Elysana as two guard Machoke leer at him- <You didn't tell us that this was an assassination!>

Thresher: <It took us forever to shake Lord Castellian's mons, and the local guard.>

Elysana: -Smiling, not at all sorry- <No one would've expected children, my dears. Now that Castellian is out of the way I can-Lord Woodborne, you're here.>

-A Shiftry takes his place next to Elysana-

Lord Woodborne: <Sorry I'm late.>

Thresher: <I really, really don't like that mon. Even more so than her.>

Elysana: -Has a servant hand Team Nova some cash and Shrodinger's items- <I can tell you that my father King Eadwyre is looking for an artifact known only as the Totem. If you hear anything about it, be sure to tell me.>

Crochet: <Sure! In your dreams, creepy lady...>

Doc: <Let's just get out of here...>

-And Team Nova heads out-

Lord Woodborne: <You don't really think they'll report to us will they?>

Elysana: -Smiles- <No, but that's what our spies are for, the children will lead them to the Totem eventually.>

Lord Woodborne: <Them, or the Vanillish and Flygon, provided the assassins don't kill them first.>

Elysana: <Once the Totem is in our hands, the entire Bay will be ours, with no annoying Emperor calling the shots any longer.>

Lord Woodborne: -Giving an evil smile- <Indeed.>
