Topic: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

I'm gonna reserve this thread for discussion of the Delta Episode -- not only the game iteration, but the version we're gonna work into the RP as well. I'll write a summary of the event in a little bit, but for now, feel free to discuss it in general.

Re: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

OK, so I beat the Delta Episode yesterday. A few thoughts...

The whole "we can't send the asteroid through a portal because it'll devastate the original RSE timeline" thing just doesn't work because WAAPT essentially uses that original RSE timeline (though it supports my theory on the different versions deliciously). We could possibly have the meteor be at risk of being sent back in time, or just any other possible way Zinnia thinks it could go wrong.

The "needing to summon Rayquaza" bit is also tricky, since A. Rayquaza is on speaking terms with the J-team, and B. he's had radically different characterization depending on who's writing him. One solution I thought of is that Miniquaza/Vyvyan could be the one destined to stop the meteor and he'd have to figure out how to Mega Evolve first.

I've got more but wanna discuss those two things first.

Re: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

Actually, I figure WAAPT is a timeline of its own that pretty much weaves back and forth between the Spriteline (G3-G5) and the Megaline (Both parts of G6). Pippi had the theory that G1&2 were their own timeline, since they were pretty much separate from the later ones. My personal theory is that the Otherverse is the Spriteline, incidentally, so risk of crashing into the otherwise "lighter and softer" universe works wonders.

As for the Rayquaza thing, I actually had the idea that Crewe would be the one who ultimately summons Rayquaza, although that's gonna have to be discussed with her if we are going with that. Vyvyquaza works too, though. Possibly.

Still gotta write that summary, though.

Re: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

Well, after learning this alternate timeline info about the games, I've been thinking the world that WAAPT takes place in happens to be a world where things from many different worlds for whatever reasons happen to blend together.

I dunno. Maybe something relating to that theory could relate to why this event, which may have happened sooner and for a different reason in another reality, is happening now in the OU?

Also, should Sierra be involved in this somehow?

Re: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

Eskay: I'm pretty sure the events of XY occurred in the Otherverse too, though. At least I'm counting on it for a plan of mine. In any case, I'd assume all the major WAAPT timelines are "hybrids" like you said, since placing a moratorium on using G6+ stuff in them for one person's personal theory is no good.

That being said, I do like your idea of the meteor threatening the light-and-soft-ness of the Lighter And Softer universe. Only problem is that unlike the other major universes no one in the OU knows of the Otherverse's existence, so we may just have to go with "it'll devastate some other timeline, that's reason enough."

As for Crewe, she's probably the best PC for the job, since Rayquaza wanted her to be her chosen one. :P However, I'd somewhat prefer if the summoner was a non-PC. One amusing idea I had was that Robin could do it, but I'm not sure I'd have  the time. And if we go with Vyvquaza Sierra is the obvious choice.

DS: That could work too. And see my previous comment about Sierra.

Re: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

Umbra: It's actually never been established what has happened in the Otherverse... actually, not even since BW2. So anything's possible. Although I do see your point about a plan of yours.

And keep in mind that  nobody in ORAS knows about the other universe Zinnia was talking about, so it would make sense that it could refer to the Otherverse regardless of how many people know about it. :P

Also, on a marginally related note, I've been considering asking if Gypsum could be in the history of the Otherverse if I actually get around to writing it, but that's a different matter for a different time.

Re: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

Eskay: I'd rather all the major universes be "hybrids" like the OU. Especially with the point I made about it being unfair to disallow anyone from using XY stuff in the Otherverse just because of your personal theory.

But the other point works.

And I'd be fine with Gypsum being part of Otherverse history. Especially since I'm writing my own Next Big Fic as if it were WAAPT history as well. :P

Re: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

I dunno, I was under the impression that the Otherverse could be either. Though the fact that the OU is a hybrid rather than one or the other would raise questions as to why/how it was different before X and Y.

9

Re: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

^ Which is why all the main universes being hybrids is simpler.

(Though we're getting slightly off-topic here.)

Re: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

As much as I like my headcanon, having them all be hybrids would indeed make it simpler. So yeah.

Re: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

OK then. BACK TO THE TOPIC AT HAND

OK, so what we have so far...

- Asteroid is heading to planet, current plan of deflection would just punt it to Otherverse or something. So we need a Rayquaza.

- Rayquaza needs to be summoned and unlock his Mega Evolution to stop the asteroid. Possible ones to do so include Crewe (Previous chosen one WHETHER SHE LIKES IT OR NOT) or Robin (has a history of being involved with super-powerful dragons). Anyone else? Alternatively Vyvquaza, with the summoner being Sierra. Or both of them have to stop the asteroid. Suggestions are appreciated here.

Anything else we need to tackle? I can think of a few things, but I wanna hear what others have to say first.

Re: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

Deziree could try making a giant laser, though she would probably hurt herself just trying.

Unfortunately, none of my characters have any really strong connections to dragons.

Re: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

One thing I've noticed: Zinnia appears throughout the main story, such as at Mt. Chimney. She's dressed in the Magma Uniform(probably an Aqua one in AS), in which case it's possible she could've been there for Hoenn 1

Re: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

Yeah, she's in an Aqua one in AS. I didn't know it was Zinnia at the time, but I had the feeling something was up.

And I would say something about Jet and Rayquaza, but Jet's... Jet.

I don't have anything else to say about what's been mentioned, though, unless we're still debating how we're goign to handle Aqua/Magma.

EDIT: Actually, would there be a reason that other solutions like 'make a giant laser to destroy it' wouldn't be feasible, or at least getting Rayquaza would be easier?

Re: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

^^ Zinnia being there for Hoenn-1 is certainly an interesting possibility. Would give her reason to be interested in the J-Team.

Also, I had the idea Umbra and Zinnia would meet and not get along at all because the Giratinists and Dragonids are enemies. :P

^ Getting Rayquaza would probably be easier than building a big enough laser, yes. Though you bring a good point about Magma/Aqua... How do we handle them in this?

Re: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

Also, a note from Every: We should hold off on any real decision making until more people have played the Delta Episode. So yeah.

Re: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

Considering that I'm probably not going to be very available when this actually happens, I don't think Jet'll be involved.

Re: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

Re: Aqua and Magma, there was some discussion about having a new group with similar ideas to the original Aqua and Magma forming (plus Primal Reversion stuff) and that they gave themselves codenames like the original admins to explain their differing appearance.

I do admit I like the Aqua and Magma who go through legal means to accomplish their goals, but I'm not sure how well they'd work out for the Delta Episode/other plans people have.

Re: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

Hmm... Haven't seen many mentions of Deoxys in all this. How are we handling that part? The Deoxys is trapped inside the meteor, and the J-Team have to save it while dealing with the meteor?

20 (edited by Umbramatic 2014-12-23 00:12:58)

Re: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

^ I was assuming the Deoxys would be antagonistic, but that could work too.

Also, thinking about it I reeeeeeealy want Robin to be the one to Mega Evolve Raquaza because I've got a bunch of ideas for what'll happen. At the very least, I want Robin to give a speech to Rayquaza because I have one in mind.

Re: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

I like the idea of trying to save both more than Deoxys being antagonistic, so I like DS' idea.

Re: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

Darn, I kind of liked the mental image of the entire team banding together to fight Deoxys, and it shape-shifting throughout the battle. Plus wasn't it the one directing the meteor towards the planet in the first place? If it didn't want to hurt anything, would the Delta Episode still have happened? They do mention that the meteor changes course towards the planet almost intentionally or something like that.

23

Re: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

Well, we could also combine both ideas, the Deoxys mistaking the J-Team's attempt to help as an attack and trying to defend itself until they manage to calm it down?

24

Re: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

I like this compromise.

Re: RP!Delta Episode (ORAS Postgame Spoilers abound!)

Hmmm... Both Verax and DS's ideas sound good, but I'm leaning to DS's idea.

EDIT: Scratch that, let's go with DS's.
