-Ken keeps a hand on his pokeball, as they come to the church-
Ken: That's the church, huh? We're almost there. Stay focused, people.
Tessa: I think that depends on how much this world works like a story.
Tyler: All worlds work like stories. Once you read enough stories, you start to realize that. -looks around-
Tessa: I don't have time for stories, I'm killing Missingno.
Talia: <Boo, Genre Blindness!>
Tyler: -sighs-
-above the entrance to the church is a large sign saying CHURCH OF ARCEUS in bold letters. Tessa pushes open the double doors and leads the group into the cathedral-
-or at least, it's supposed to be a cathedral. In reality, it looks more like, well, an office building. There's a block of cubicles off to the side, where men and women in clothes ranging from robes of every color to suits sit and type frantically at computers. A long aisle stretches out in front of them, leading to a very large desk, behind which a woman in a navy blue suit, auburn hair pulled back in a tight bun, sits with a phone held between her chin and shoulder, one hand scribbling notes. A shimmering gold nameplate on her desk reads HIGH PRIESTESS-
-as Tessa and the rest of the group walk down the aisle, people scurry back and forth carrying offerings and pads of paper. Two hallways branch off from the main room: one leads to a large, steaming fountain, beside which acolytes lay down offerings and dump sacks of what appear to be coffee beans in. The other leads to a small break room, where acolytes and priests chat-
-as the group reach the large desk, they can hear garbled Monese coming from it, to which the woman nods occasionally. Noticing the group, she holds up one finger, then shifts the phone-
Woman: Yes, yes, Lady Kyogre, I understand, and I'll be sure Lord Arceus gets the message. Please hold for just a moment.
-she presses a button on her phone stand and turns to the group, beaming-
Woman: Welcome to the Church of Arceus! I am High Priestess Kay. How may I help you?
Tessa: We're here to see Arceus about killing Missingno.!
Kay: Oh, another team? Do you have an appointment?
Tessa: Do--what? We're trying to save the world here! Why do we need an appointment?
Kay: I'm very sorry, but Lord Arceus is very busy, and you need an appointment to see him.
Is there a way to see him without one?
Tyler: And is the waiting list longer or shorter than Wraith's lifespan?
Sarah: This... is not what I expected.
Aldaris: <Very well organized, though.>
Ken: -hanging at the back of the group, hands in his pockets and then coughs, before stepping forward closer to the desk- Miss... I'm sorry that we've come without an appointment, we're simply hoping that we could ask our Lord Arceus a simple request. We wouldn't be seeking his divine help without it being a dire matter... Please. -tilts his head slightly, pushing back his black hair and looking into the High Priestess' eyes- Would you be able to help us in any way, before it's too late? We would be forever in your debt.
Kay: No, I'm afraid there is no way to get in without an appointment. There's no waiting list, but it is very difficult to make an appointment; you'll have to do a task set by Lord Arceus, and only if you're lucky enough to come at a time he needs something done that can't be done within the temple. Feel free to make an offering while you--oh, hold on.
-her phone beeps, then a deep, weary voice comes through-
Arceus: Kay? Is that Kyogre on the phone?
Kay: Yes, my Lord Arceus. There's also a team of glitch hunters looking to make an appointment.
Arceus: Well, I don't have anything for them to do... Patch Kyogre through, Kay, I'll talk to her. Oh, and have the acolytes send me some coffee. My favorite kind, too. I've had a long day.
Kay: Of course, my Lord--Oh, Ronny, what is it?
-an acolyte wearing ice-blue robes runs over, out of breath-
Ronny: High Priestess, we're out of Lord Arceus's best coffee--
Arceus: WHAT?!
Ronny: -appears to have a minor panic attack and falls into a bow in front of the desk- L-lord Arceus! I'm sorry, you drank the last of it a few days ago, and we haven't had anyone to send out for more--
Arceus: Kay, I need my coffee! Send the glitch hunters to go get it!
Kay: Yes, my Lord. I'll patch Lady Kyogre through.
Arceus: Good. Thank you, Kay. I have to get back to work... send up some bagels or something, would you?
Kay: Of course, Lord Arceus. -she hangs up and presses a button on the phone stand, then puts the phone down- Ronny, send up some bagels, and give the glitch hunters the ingredients list.
Tyler: ...Well then.
Ronny: R-right this way.
-he motions for the group to follow him, and leads them down the hallway to the steaming fountain-
So we have to go on a fetch quest now?
Tyler: We're becoming Arceus's coffee-fetchers. I'm not sure whether to be honored or humiliated.
Sarah: I'd go with honored, personally. It's not every day to get to be an attendant to the gods.
Tessa: It doesn't matter how you feel about it. We just have to do it fast so we can get back to killing Missingno.
Ronny: -opens a cabinet and pulls out a bag of bagels, which he tosses into a small fire burning by the fountain, then pulls out a piece of paper and holds it out towards the group- Here's the list. Hurry back!
Tyler: (to Sarah) I guess.
-sighs as the list is given- Well, this'll be interesting, I suppose. I wonder if Arceus takes his coffee with cream or sugar or milk...
Ken: -mumbling to himself- So... If they're sending items directly to Arceus... does that mean they have a portal to him? ...One we could step through?
What's on the list?
Tartarus:<Food! Duh!>
Ronny: -overhears Ken- Only if you don't mind burning to death.
Tessa: Yeah yeah, let's just go.
Ken: -turning his gaze to Ronny- You've got some connections to wherever Arceus is. A hotline directly to him. A portal that presumably doesn't char to ashes everything you send if you're sending him food. All I wanted to know is how, and where, but if that's not info available to me... -shrugs, putting his hands in his pockets and returning to the hunt with the others-
Tessa: Let it go, we got stuff to do.
-heads out of the church, studying the paper-
-Tyler follows-
Sarah: So what does it say?
