Tagg: Ah, okay. I must have skipped over that. And yeah that person does get one.
So I only just got to the Mega Evolution thingy at the Tower of Mastery. First thoughts:
Fletchling line is total bs. (Mostly unrelated, but Fletcher just became a Talonflame and can now OHKO things with Peck.)
Mega Evolution is basically digivolution via Crest/Egg/Card/Other implements.
@Mega Rings IRP:
I wouldn't mind having them limited to only a smallish number like the armbands, if it could be certain they would actually be sort of group property and shared equally among all the team members, and not treated like the armbands where certain people take possession of them and loan them out, etc.
That said, I do not forsee myself using one at any point IRP.
Current team: Ereth the male Chesnaught, Cuyahoga the female Charizard, Phantra the female Doublade, Sharptooth the female Tyrantrum, Barnacle Boy the male Barbaracle, Saxton the MANLY Sylveon.
All but Phantra are fully evolved, yay~
Apparently you don't need MAX affection to evolve Eevee into Sylveon. Just some + a Fairy move. Saxton evolved as soon as I taught him Charm.
Saxton: <Real men wear ribbons!> :3
Cuyahoga kicks butt when she Mega Evolves.
I like how the Eiffel Tower equivalent is a Gym.
Got three badges today, yay~
Got a male Goomy named Slughorn.
And I forgot to mention last time, but I REALLY like the redesigns for some of the Trainer Classes. Especially female Swimmers and female Rangers. Hubba hubba.
-Bricked-
And that's all for today.
While I do agree this isn't a thing that should be fully decided until the spoilerblock's up and revived then, I might as well say that the only thing I'm really opposed to is just a large portion of the team getting them all from the same source. I'm fine with everyone who wants one eventually being able to get one through story reasons if it's explained well enough.
That, and if there are any restrictions on it besides not getting them all at once, my PCs probably won't be getting them either, mostly because neither of them really want Mega Evolution that badly and I'm kind of loathe to have one get Mega Evolution and the other not. Not that I'd never want them to, it's more it would be a nice thing to be able to do on occasion, I'd think.
Then again, I still need to beat the game myself. Doubt I'll have an especially different opinion of it then, though.
Feature-wise I can get nothing from Megas because none of my mons can, so I won't bother with them. Instead I'll abuse focus on AMIE, because really why would you NOT want to pet Shahinne and feed her poffins?
And then she grows up to be a mean badass raptor like her dad. And I'll have to pet her more or die. :p
You already have to pet her more or die. :3
Salamence will be very angry if you don't. :3
@Every: just don't tell her I have not posted for Shahinne in over three weeks :p
What are we doing about Amie in the RP anyway?
Good point Silent, that's probably even more broken than Mega Evolution.
Oh my, yes. SOOOOO broken. The brokenest.
...
I'd almost even make a move to disregard it...
To be fair here, Amie is something that we have been kinda sorta doing for a while (let's face it, Lanius should have killed some of our most capable mons back then. BUT THEY HELD UP BECAUSE OF THE HEART OF THE CA-oh wait, wrong mechanic.)
We don't know much of how do the Amie mechanics work, but I have to say I'd gladly take the roughest mon being able to evade a 100% move in the brink of its life in exchange for having this scene before where he has to more or less publicly humiliate himself by letting the Trainer play with him like he was a kitten :3 - and we make that scene last an entire page.
(For bonus points, let's make that mon be Felis)
I'd say we might want to keep some reference to Poke Puffs and the Minigames, but not do the Mechanics changes. Or at least nothing different from what we've been doing.
Might affect Sylveon a bit, but as long as Affection translates to Friendship or something, it's probably fine.
I'm with Beri.
Given that it's assumed that people in the RP are nice to their mons, giving them effects for that like random healing of paralysis is probably not a good idea.
I'm with Crow, leaning more towards we won't actually need to do anything (it's basically HeroicSecondWind codified as a game mechanic, and since we already have that in-RP...) - at least for the time being.
(Once we have a better mapping of what bonuses does Amie produce and if/how do they relate with new moves or abilities, yeah, we might want to preclude some things)
@Every: Sure we are obviously nice with our mons, but how many of us have, say, given our mons a smooch on demand? And feeding them on their muzzles, not on a random dish on the ground :p
True~
The thing is though, writing that out all the time probably isn't terribly enjoyable (whereas in-game it's totally fun). So making in-battle rewards for it seems kind of counterintuitive.
True. Though I'd expect if we were to implement it somehow the bonuses would be very tightly defined and nowhere as OP'd as the game's. (Also I jelly now because you guys can Amie and I can't >_>)
It's okay Silent, I can't either. -nuzzles-
We can suffer from not having what to aim our love at together~
During further talk about Pokémon Amie (I jelly >_>) with Tracer, he makes a very good point that, basically, we actually won't need to do a damn thing.
[Maekrite] We didn't get too far. It was mostly an examination of how it is basically a mechanic even more broken than megas
[Tracer] Ah.
[Tracer] To be fair, it's only marginally less broken than the rules that the RP runs on. :P
[Maekrite] I shoud point that out :p
[Tracer] Humans can attack, damage output and input vary significantly based on things independent of actual damage formula. Rule of Cool/Plot can allow survival of KOs.
[Tracer] Just say that Pokemon-Amie is basically what the RP already has ATM, if with a more narrow range of choosable activities for bonding.
(emphasis mine)
I already noticed that, I was personally talking more about the status removal.
I don't see any issues with it unless it is a status ailment that actually causes HP damage (Burn or Poison) and even then I think those cases can be handled with some minimal care. The games do make a point since G4 I think that your mons can magically™ cure themselves of poison when at the brink of fainting™, so there's that.
Since I don't know the Amie mechanics any, I can't suggest much, but my personal interpretation at the moment is that such status removal works like a HeroicRROD. You get a one-turn reprieve from the effects of the ailment, just in case you manage to win in that "turn", but you are still inflicted the status ailment until you heal from it by more standard ways afterwards. Basically nothing unlike the truck-lifting mothers.
Still unsure how would that translate to the RP in regulated battles, but for "fight or die" is simple enough.
Yeah, I think Amie should be disregarded. As Tracer noted we kinda already have it in multiple ways. :P
Double post.
@Umbra: Bad thing Pokémon Amie does not(?) have skittynip, eh? :p
