Treasure Town
Shahinne: <I'm special~> -- puffs chest vainly.
Roc frowns at Shahinne, which she ignores. Instead she goes happily nom her apple by the window, by which then she sees the Musharna Hotel. After looking at it for a moment, she chirps and flies to the other end of the room to rest in the open money chest with 65 thousand Poké-whatever.
Shahinne: <Dad! I want to go to the hotel!>
Roc -shakes his head: <We are fine here, dear.>
Shahinne: <But I'm special today!> -- sinks in the chest money, starts "swimming" -- <That place is beautiful and it has a pool and a lot of things and I want!>
Roc walks closer to the chest and brushes his chick.
Shahinne -blinks: <B-b-but we have the [money]~> -- trills and swims in the chest -- <We can buy the suite and you and I can play hide and seet and nom [nuts] all day and buy all we want with the coins and->
Roc: <SHAHINNE NO!> -- thumps the ground.
The Starly jumps surprised and retreats back against the wall of the chest; there she looks up as her father looks down at her sternly. Since Shahinne doesn't seem to understand what the issue is with the coins, Roc sighs and decides to pick her up. Not very gently though.
Shahinne: <eeeeep~>
Roc leaves the chick down in the ground and nests besides her.
Roc: <We should not use that [money], Shahinne...>
Shahinne: <But why not? We earned it!> -- opens eyes wide -- <Or do we have to give it to the prick Chatot?>
Roc: <Yes, well... no...> -- sighs -- <It's complicated.>
Shahinne simply looks up inquisitively.
Roc: <…But if you want to know, fine... I should not hide you from these things. Using this [money] is evil, Shahinne.>
Shahinne: <Evil? ._.>
Roc: <Yes, well… peoplemons died for this [money] Shahinne. Died to make it, more or less. And after they died, more peoplemons died trying to get it too.> -- looks down and pecks her -- <You almost get nomed for it too.>
The Starly thinks for a moment and then blinks, it still doesn't register to her why would that be any important.
Roc: <In a certain way this treasure is made of the suffering and death of others, Shahinne. It means it's [blood money]. If you spend it, you are using their suffering and death for your benefit.>
As Roc explains to the Starly some minor things about the morality of work and how some peoplemons always look to profit from the efforts of others, not caring about their welfare nor their lives, Shahinne grows more wary and scared. When Roc gets to the part where he comments on some of the experiments of people like Cipher, the Starly's eyes grow big, she gulps. After a moment, she ventures a question.
Shahinne: <…What do we do with it then?>
Roc -shakes head: <...Don't know yet. Perhaps I should ask Tagg for advice...>
The two birds stay together for a while, Roc calming Shahinne down.
