Treasure Town, PMD-A

Shahinne and Roc arrive to town after a flight back to Shimmer Hill to return Mr. Swalot to his family and collect the door, of which Roc recovered the [shard] in the handle. They are now gliding towards one of the tents and enjoying a moment of rest before having to report back to the Guild.

Shahinne: <…Dad?>

Roc -looks down in-flight: <Yes, Shahinne?>

Shahinne: <...Do we have to give the money to the annoying Chatot? Do we? ._.>

Roc nods and says nothing more. He is exasperated that after all they went through («my chick was almost nomed, and ended up covered in yuck, if that Chatot dismisses that…») the Guild will take about 58000 Poké-whatever from their earnings. All that the birds would be left would be some money and the shard.

To make things worse, Roc says to himself, the money should not be theirs anyway, but of the original Rescue Team that completed the mission. Unfortunately they didn't survive the Magnezone and his gang in the cave though.

Roc sighs and contents himself on the fact that they managed to capture a very dangerous gang of feral mons that according to rumor might be responsible for various teams disappearing.

Roc: <Don't fall back, Shahinne, you are the leader and we still have a busy day!>

Shahinne -trills: <Oh, I'm going, yes!> -- rushes ahead towards the item shop.

Random Nidorina -to Riana, while picking Silentran♂ up: <Well because their idea of working together is "we serve them"…> -- hugs the fainted Nidoran -- <So cute~>

Fey: <Actually the Miltank are mostly fine… they are just too powerful. Have you tried to fight one of those things? They have Scrappy and M-M-G...> -- puts up a creepy face -- <"Milk Machine Gun".>

Nidorina -listens to Cleo: <Haven't heard anything about coffins buuuuut, some mons to the south and west are scavengers. There there~> -- nuzzles the fainted Nidoran.

Fey: <Anyway... that's the hraka we have to put up from the west, you see. It's mostly the Empire that is an annoyance. Then you have those weird gators and dragons parked at the south, who are all friendly but suddenly go into killing sprees for no raisin, and then the mons to the east who are… are…> -- shares an inquisitive look with the Donphan -- <Well, dunno who exactly they are because no worldbuilding not many messengers come from there.>

Guide Donphan: <Further to the east is the land of Kanto. But we barely have any connectivity with them… unfortunately, since I hear their forest is bigger than ours.>

Toothless looks a bit uncomfortable with the depiction of some nearby Salamence.

Fey: <Well they're-> -- looks back at Cleo -- <are you always right?>

…Turns back to the others.

Fey: <They are mons who established themselves here after the Banishment. They got a permit from U Frith because they are pretty nice and fought on our side, but unfortunately they tend to let it get over their heads.>

Nidorina: <When that happens they send some minions to try and expand their territory by invading the forest, and then we have to smack them silly so they return to their senses.>

Fey: <Beyond that little detail, they are very nice Pokémon to do business with, actually. They live in this floating settlement to the south…> -- shrugs.

Fey -pats Cleo, snickers: <Well, it's a love story from what I heard... a Feraligator and a Salamence who were lovers and fought against the dragons during the Treason. I think one of them was called Pond, Lagoon or something. As a prize for their unity and work they were granted good fortune. Enough that they founded a settlement in the swamps to the south, they supposedly called it [Bluescale] as a commemoration of their unity.>

Donphan: <It's a nice story, though as usual we don't know how much truth is there behind them. You could actually go there and ask, it's pretty much half a day of walk from here.> -- points to the south.

Golden Forests

Guide Donphan: <Heh... A 'gator boy and a 'mence girl… doesn't it sound sappy?> -- giggles.

Fey -listening to Toothless: <Oh… well, if you mean the Dragonspiral girl and the porcupine with a fashion statement, I'm afraid you won't be able to meet with them yet.> -- gives off a boasting smile -- <A friend of mine is holding them off at the moment.>

Toothless: <Wait what do you mean?>

Fey: <That they can not leave until we let them.>

Toothless -growls: <If that is supposed to mean anything threatening…>

Nidorina: <Would you two knock it off? This group is here as guests, Fey.> -- growls at the Gengar -- <It is the others who have to do important stuff here. Now, if you don't mind, let's continue to enjoy these noms.>

Fey pats Cleo, muttering something in the line of being careful about where does one look for assassins, and goes walk around looking for a sleepy mon to Dream Eater. Meanwhile, Toothless and Riana keep noming while the Nidorina brushes Silentran♂ and rocks him a little, hoping to return him to senses.

After talking about Father's Day (which was a good long ago at this point), Helios and Algira have been likely staying in the Castle for a while. It is Helios's castle anyway, or at least a version of him's.

Golden Forest Loregrounds, PMD-B

Back at the cabin, a Noctowl and an Alakazam can be seen having a conversation.

Autura: <...Really? Why would you want to integrate anyways? From the records we've salvaged, it was just scrambled text and numbers that humans would have understood.>

Xavier: <Well,> -- shrugs -- <it is like adding many small numbers automatically, but yeah it is painful. Methinks derivation is just better.>

A short distance from there, a Spiritomb and two Sableye are watching the conversation with bored faces. Shortly after a Pidgeotto lands by their side.

Pidgeott: <Uhm... I should like, really move you to the communal grounds for the lunch that is coming, or I'll lose my [permit].>

Styx -waves a hand: <Heh, sorry, it's just it seems they are still engaged in conversation.>

Elysia: <Uhm... I-is he always like that?> -- hugs her mother. -- <I want to go see more things.>

Styx: <I'm afraid so, Elysia..., hey you,> -- to the Pidgeotto -- <he can find his way to us later, right?>

Pidgeotto: <Yeah, sure, let's go with that.> -- nervously unfolds wings -- <Let's go, please?>

Styx and Elysia look at each other and give a wry smile.

Styx: <…I think we can wait a little longer~>

Meanwhil, Xavier and Autura are still talking and gesticulating while the Alakazam still tries to convice the Noctowl to let out some specific information.

Autura -ruffles feathers: <I have to say, I lost track what we were talking about like four hours ago.>

Xavier: <Speaking of track, how did you lose track of your brother?>

Autura: <Oh, that.> -- turns head 180º -- <A delegate Pokémon cane from far away when we were little, said there was a [tower] holding some important knowledge that had to be saved.> -- shurgs -- <Next morning my brother is gone. I am sorry but I really don't know any more specifics.>

Xavier -rubs chin: <A tower... here in Johto?>

Autura -shakes head: <Not even that I know...>

(Shortly after this post)

The Pidgeotto from above returns to the clearing after having gone offscreen for a moment, and finds no trace of the two Sableyes and the Spiritomb.

Pidgeotto: <...Oh?> -- looks left and right nervously -- <W-where did you go? Where did they go?>

Random Caterpie: <Hey up there… they were here talking and then they vanished.>

The Pidgeotto looks down at the Caterpie.

Pidgeotto: <Vanished? Did you see what direction did they go? Did they say anything? Are they even still alive???????> -- grabs the Caterpie, shakes it.

Caterpie: <Eeeeeeeee~ Don't nom me! I'm a burden to society! @_@>

The Pidgeotto lets the Caterpie go and starts looking around, holding his head with his wings (somehow) and muttering something about his permit and about having to live as a feral. Then he starts calling around for the two Sableyes and hopping around while hyperventilating.

Xavier -squints: <Is he ok?>

Autura -hoots: <Yeah, leave him be. He's just extremely paranoid.>

Xavier looks back at the Noctowl and narrows his eyes.

Xavier: <"They" are onto him, right?>

Autura: <Yup~>

The two Pokémon walk away while the Pidgeotto continues looking around for the Sableyes whle also glancing over his shoulder every once in a while, hoping to not see an angry Nidorina or something...

Algira has fun talking to a Masquerain about the weather and how comfortable it is for them to live in the nearby oasis.

Algira: <…And you don't think it is too arid?>

Masquerain♀: <Not really...> -- buzzes -- <We've got used to it in the last fifty or so generations. Look at these, for example.> -- flashes some vivid orange patterns closer to the RSE sprite coloring.

Golden Forests

(Yesterday after this post and this post)

After some time of walking, Teala and Maekrite cross past somee white pillars that the Nidorino identifies as supports of the former Magnet Train. Some time beyond that the two are led to a wide lake in a dense and well covered part of the forest. At the center of the lake lies what looks like a small cave.

Leader Ursaring: <Follow me you two.>

He wades into the lake, picking his crossing spot carefully, to reach the islet. Maekrite sighs and climbs onto Teala, who then follows the example of the Ursaring and wades across without much problem, really. Entering the cave is more complicated and requires that Teala half-curls to "slide" into the opening.

Once inside the three Pokémon find themselves before what appears to be a long ladder down into the underground, with torches placed at regular intervals.

Local Ursaring -to Teala: <There's a little place from the time of humans where we have kept some important things safe.> -- shrugs -- <Only shame is that the road is kinda long.>

In effect Maekrite and the others have been walking for some 15 minutes already and the underground tunnel shows no signs of ending, though Maekrite and Teala might notice that the walls of the tunnel are drier and show less signs of roots and rocks now.

After a bit more of walking, Teala, Maekrite and the Ursaring reach a steel door. After passing through it they find themselves in the remains of a man-made tunnel, whose structure and sounds indicate it connects to what was one the sewage system of Goldenrod City.

Re: PMD Returns: stories of PMD-A and PMD-B

????, PMD-B

After a couple of turns, Ursaring, Teala and Maekrite walk up some stairs to find themselves inside some sort of building with concrete walls. Despite the many years past, the roof is intact at least in what matters to the room the three Pokémon find themselves in. Through the shaded windows some Murkrow can be seen flying around.

Maekrite and Teala look around, they find a couple of shelves containing various dusted boxes and some broken devices from the human era. Maekrite senses something and walks around, sniffing some of the devices. After a moment, he reaches a shelf at the corner of the room where some books can be found, in a state beyond repair, as well as some glass containers that seem to hold such things as gloves and medicine containers.

Maekrite: <I've seen some of this stuff…>

Ursaring observes as Maekrite picks one of the boxes with vials and gloves and moves it around, revealing some letters in one of the sides...

Teala is surprised. Maekrite too. Ursaring simply shrugs and goes lie around.

A long time in the past… of another timeline

While fighting various apparent opponents, Inka leaps up to a shelf and kicks a brown-ish Skitty who happens to be an afterimage, then climbs up the shelf and fires Poison Stings at the other ones.

Back to the Future

Maekrite: <Definitively something bad happened here...> -- looks around -- <Teala can you get those boxes in the highest shelf? I want to see what things are inside.>

Re: PMD Returns: stories of PMD-A and PMD-B

Somewhere in the docks of Almer-B

Various Pokémon are walking or slithering around, trying to carry out their daily routine. Rattata and Sentret carrying little bags with food, a Houndour taking her pups for a walk, some Pidgeys are fighting over a Wurmple, a random Nidorino is sitting around supposedly doing nothing, a Tauros rams and tackles a Nuzleaf who refused to pay the toll, two Electrike trying to bargain with a Shuckle for a drink, and the everpresent Pellipper trolling mons at the beach. It's a normal day in a normal town.

Of course, the definition of "normal" in this version of Almer, as its inhabitants call the island, includes random explosions and cries in the background every once in a while as well as smoke and noise from various battles and skirmishes taking place in and around the various canals that compose the town.

It is while observing the columns of smoke and listening to a couple of patroller Mareep around reporting to their Miltank officer that a Bulbasaur sighs and sprawls atop the wooden box that comprises his "stand".

Ponzi the Bulbasaur♂ -growls: <Mon, if those Hoennese Pokémon keep destroying the buildings all around while looking for Empire spies, I'm going to have too much trouble making business.> -- checks up a notebook with a listing -- <I have had to relocate 6 families this week.>

The Bulbasaur looks around for possible wandering victims peoplemons to whom he can offer a temporary home or shelter from the conflict. Because he is such a swindle nice mon.

Ponzi the Nice and Legal Bulbasaur: <Agh... I'll have to ask Donaros to smack- eh?> -- notices Umbra and his group -- <This is my chance...>

Puts up a happy face and closes his notebook.

Ponzi: <Greetings there, you look like very tired and hungry foreigners... welcome to Almer, a wonderful place of history and beauty.> -- there is an explosion in the background -- <And sports as well!>

He quickly examines the group, half curses his luck seeing as they are too many to handle alone but doesn't sweat it.

Ponzi: <Say, are you interested in some accommodations? What better than a good place to stay in?> -- points at Bucky -- <I can look for a nice apartment with ready access to the roofs, eh?>

Meanwhile, near one of the canals, a Manectric observes some movement and decides to go across a bridge to try and take a better look at the water, where he might or might not notice Oto and her group.

Hey, what if you follow me to the area controlled by the Miltank Legion?> -- points with a vine to the highest buildings in town, pretty similar to the others in design -- <They don't destroy too many buildings keep the edifications tidy and clean, and I think I still have one or two roomy enough for you.>

Re: PMD Returns: stories of PMD-A and PMD-B

(After these misadventures)

Almer, PMD-B

After wandering around the Miltank Legion zone for a couple of hours and a fraction, Ponzi brings Umbra and his group to the façade of what looks like an old restaurant. An Aron with a cap can be seen busy painting and refurbishing some chairs inside. There is some noise coming from a nearby alley that indicates that some mons are bullying a poor Swellow for money or berries, but the Bulbasaur gleefully ignores the noise, if it even reaches his ears.

Ponzi: <Well… this is the most spacious place I have.> -- spreads vines to show -- <You can fit like twelve bodi- er... accommodate about twelve nice peoplemons in here.> -- sweatdrops -- <Now, at present the only other occupiers are a family of Cacnea and Carnivine who came from Hoenn looking for prosperity... Isn't that nice? :3>

As he asks that, a couple of mons walk out of the alley, give some shady looks around and walk away, whistling.

Ponzi: <Lemme tell you this place is great. It's just six or so blocks from the largest canals, and the fountain park is also close.>

369

Re: PMD Returns: stories of PMD-A and PMD-B

Umbra says the group might just take the place, and Ponzi looks mildly excited.

Ponzi: <This is good news, good news then! Demeros, come see our new guests!> -- swings a vine at the Aron.

Meanwhile the group of three nondescript mons coming out of the alley notice Ponzi is at his stuff again. One of the three mons, a Magnezone who becomes now-descript, leers at Chrome and then buzzes away; the other two Pokémon mutter something and go hurriedly follow their boss. None of them notice a Nidorino is observing them from atop a building and taking note of their every (not Every) motion, though Chrome might notice.

The Aron stops doing whatever he is doing then steps outside and looks at the group of Umbra + mons (well, all mons, but you get the point). He rawrs a welcome then addresses Ponzi.

Demeros the Aron♂: <New guests? Where with "guests" I mean "victims of scam"?>

Ponzi: <Yup. Don't they look great? We can pilfer their stuff right after we drug them.>

Demeros -nods, points Umbra and the others inside: <Then welcome, please step in... The Cacnea who are living here went to the park to bask in the sunlight, so we have some time to accommodate you without importuning anymon. And preparing the drugs will take a while for this number and variety of "guests">

The Aron steps inside, a moment after Ponzi grabs Schröedinger's Member of Umbra's party with a vine to happily and friendly drag them inside, while commenting something about this part of town being toll-free.

It rains.

It keeps raining.

And just as a good measure, then it rains some more.

Not that a certain Staraptor would care.

Roc: <…zZz…>

Demeros -smiles at Bucky: <And you look like a tidy cat! :4>

Ponzi: <Well then, let's go inside...>

The others are led inside where they find an ample space partitioned into three or four makeshift rooms separated by walls of brick and wood that look pretty clean and hardy which shows these two mons actually care for the scam to look as nice and legit as possible and they even have some carpeting. There's a conspicuous lack of flowers though.

Ponzi: <There are three rooms here,> -- points at them with a vine -- <and two upstairs->

Demeros -comes in and speaks to Ponzi's ears: <Actually… we need to make some repairs about those, because those silly Hoenn mons are bombarding with sonic booms...>

Ponzi -doesn't break a sweat: <-but we are insulating them against the evil factions of this town!> -- smiles.

After that the Pokémon guides Umbra's group around the rooms, showing them and asking if they'll try to fit all in one room or use two rooms instead. Of the three available rooms, only two have windows and one bed each with a nightstand, the third one has only a bed and what looks like a desktop adapted for quadruped mons. In one of the windowed rooms there is a pot with a Glacidea Flower.

Ponzi: <Now... which one(s) would you like to stay in? I'll tell you before you make your decision, all the rooms here cost the same after all it's not like we'll not get all of your money and possessions in a day or two~>

Near Treasure Town

It's been raining for like two days already, causing floods all around. Roc has woken up shortly ago and is now standing in a small island if slowly and apocaliptically shrinking surface. Suddenly from under his wing plumage a Starly emerges and hops to the ground below, starts looking around nervously. Roc sighs at the weather while Shahinne carefully drinks some water and gives herself a bath in the rain, then chirps and recedes to stand by her father when she realizes the water is raising.

Shahinne looks at the world around, everything wet and soaking, then takes a look up at her father who has decided to quickly preen his plumage. Shahinne trills a nervous note, wants to leave. For an answer, Roc simply stays put and stares her down, trying to calm her down with his focus and stature.

(After this post)

Teala lowers some boxes and Maekrite starts looking in them for stuff like any Nidoran does, that is by picking, tossing and scrambling stuff around.

Ursaring -frowns: <Look, I'm letting you do that only because you are special guests...>

Teala -waves a paw: <Uhm... excuse him, I guess he is used enough to this place.>

The Ursaring shrugs and waits until Maekrite produces some boxes and books. Most stuff is labelled as "PEFE", of course, which doesn't surprise the Nidorino. The more boxes he undoes this way though, the more annoyed he looks, to which a big contributing factor is perhaps that he can not read "humanese".

After a moment though Maekrite finds a couple of pictures, which he picks out of the box and spreads on the ground for him and Teala to examine. The Ursaring leans on a shelf and explains those are well preserved records of the life before the Banishment the higher ranks of the Golden Forest have tasked some select mons, mostly Teddiursas and Buizels, to take care for.

Maekrite and Teala take a look at the first of three pictures with attention. To the Druddigon, what instantly calls her attention is that one of the picture features someone who looks like it could be Tracer, only his face is all blurred because of fire damage in the picture; he is accompanied by Shaun and holding a small Bagon. By his side there's Tagg with a Leafeon and a Stoutland, and then some young who seem to be PEFE interns.

Teala: <Uhm… that's… that's not right.>

Maekrite: <Silent's interns keep a picture like this one… but NOT this one!>

Teala: <I know... I don't recall Tagg ever having a Leafeon, except...>

While the other Pokémon in Umbra's party go examine the place and get themselves comfy, Ponzi and Demeros walk Chrome into a room next to the staircase. There a couple of books and a chair can be seen, and the place is so tidy there is no trace of blood from the Gothorita and the Zangoose who were beaten to a pulp for money earlier during the week.

Demeros: <So... let's talk about money. Meaning, how much do you really have so that we can get all of it.>

Chrome -walks himself into the center of the room: <Sure thing. We can pay you a fair amount. And smack you if you try anything silly>

Ponzi: <Of course.> -- produces a book and handles a pen with a vine -- <Because of the time of the day, we'll take a small payment that will cover your stay for two nights. As well as hopefully reveal what kind of currency and items you bring along After that we'll be talking a weekly payment in advance.>

Chrome: <In advance? That desperate you are?> -- lifts a leg in a slightly intimidating gesture -- <Is that customary for booking in this town?>

Ponzi: <Well, yes, give us a break , evading the law is also extra complexity… I mean look at this town, they are always waging ridiculous wars...> -- a wilhelm scream from a Herdier is heard coming from somewhere nearby -- <and your payments are mostly used to make sure this place is kept safe from any major issues. Aren't we great?> -- rawrs.
