Lake: <Wait...>
Lake blinks in shock.
<...You remembered my Birthday?>
Luke: <Of course! How could I forget about something so important? I just...didn't celebrate it because I thought you were still looking for Tempest in the Orange Islands. But that didn't stopping me buying you something, at least. I was going to give it to you when you got back, but...well, this happened.>
He gives Lake an eager look.
<But we'll talk about that later. Go on, open it! You'll love it, I'm sure.>
Lake: <Alright then...>
Taking the package, Lake slits the wrapping paper, then pulls out a box depicting a rather large flipped-screen device with blue casing to match his scales. Curiously, Lake reads the box itself.
<It's a..."Nintendo 3DS XL"? Oh! This is one of those game consoles, isn't it?>
Luke: <Yeah, it's the latest model. I thought it would be better than getting you a regular one because you might have trouble holding it with your larger hands, so this version is perfect for you, really.
Anyway...I brought it for you because, well, I remembered how you used to like watching me play video games back when you were just a Totodile when we lived at home. So I thought you would like having your own console to play with when you're bored...
...Do you like it?>
Lake: <...Or course I do...>
He gives Luke the biggest hug he can muster.
<Thanks, Luke.>
Luke: <Aww, anytime, buddy. Now, er...would you mind explaining a few things to me?>
Lake breaks off the hug, giving him a quizzical look.
Lake: <Oh?>
Luke: <Well, firstly, why did that Skarmory over there just faint?>
He points a finger at the unconscious Skye.
<And why are we at the PEFE, yet everyone, including me, are still Pokémon?>
Lake: <...Oh, well...>
The Feraligatr rubs the back of his head awkwardly.
<...You might want to sit down for this...>
