-runs up and glomps Lucius-
-Lucius flinches slightly, but then returns the hug, still smiling.-
Lucius: Not to worry, I'm sure he isn't. I know how hard it is to resist my natural animal magnetism.
-He pulls away.-
Lucius: How are you doing? Things on my end have been... less than great, but that's not important right now.
-Samantha frowns at the mention of Lucius not being well-
Well. I've been doing pretty well, all things considered. Got out of Illusion, got some intel...you know.
-cocks head-
Aside from what's making you sad, are you OK?
-Lucius nods.-
Lucius: ...For the most part, yeah. I've been staying with Duke over the last few days. He's been helping me deal with some of the stuff that's been troubling me. And I'm glad to hear you got out of Illusion safely. I wouldn't want you to end up in the same situation as Sarah did...
-He trails off, looking vaguely uncomfortable.-
-Samantha places a hand on Lucius' shoulder-
I'm glad to hear that Duke's helping.
-she decides to not bring up Sarah-
Um...so. What have you been...doing?
-Lucius sits down on the bed.-
Lucius: ...I would say that I've just been sitting in this hotel room for the last two months, but that's not the case. I've been busy. Very busy, actually, up until about a week ago. It's probably best if I start at the beginning.
-He looks up at Samantha.-
Lucius: You've already heard about the recent superhero trend, right?
-Samantha nods. A bit of a glint enters her eyes-
Indeed...
Lucius: Good. That way I won't look completely insane when I try to explain things... I need to go to the toilet first, though. Be back in a moment.
-He scoops up his bag and disappears into the bathroom. After a couple of minutes, he comes out in full costume, looking nervous and smiling rather sheepishly beneath the mask.-
The Auric Avenger: ...Surprise.
-Samantha gasps in delight, and points-
Samantha: I knew it! I knew it knew it knew it knew it knew it! Ever since I heard someone say that it was like a Lucario Crobatman I was like "Is that...?" and then I was like "naw, no way" but I CALLED IT! :D
-Still looking rather sheepish, the Avenger takes off his mask and sits back down on the bed.-
Lucius: You're not the first person to suss it out. I'll admit, it's probably not the best of disguises... but that doesn't really matter, seeing as I don't intend to use it any longer. From here on out, I'm leaving heroism to people who are actually heroic.
-Samantha frowns-
While I'm OK with this, it sounds like you're getting down on yourself again.
-Lucius sighs.-
Lucius: I've got reason to. I was so obsessed with trying to take down Titan that I let myself forget what a superhero is supposed to represent... they're supposed to be paragons of law and virtue. Instead, I resorted to thievery in order to get what I wanted and treated my allies with contempt and disdain. Sure, I beat Titan in the end, but I lost sight of my values in the process... I crossed a line in the sand somewhere, and now there's people out there just as determined to stop me as I was to stop my father.
-Samantha regards the uniform-
So...I'm guessing you need help with those stopping you?
-Lucius looks down at the mask in his hands.-
Lucius: ...Yes and no. I'm not going to be fighting anybody, I can promise you that much. I've had enough of needless violence that could've been easily avoided. But I'm going to need help all the same.
-Samantha nods-
I'll be happy to help.
-she appears deep in thought-
-Lucius raises an eyebrow.-
Lucius: ...Something on your mind?
Samantha: Hmm? Oh, it's not related to this. Is something on yours?
-Lucius nods.-
Lucius: ...Yeah. A lot of things are, in fact. When you're alone with only your thoughts for company most of the day, you get plenty of time to think. I don't want to be a burden on you, though... Arceus knows that I've put Duke through enough already.
-Samantha shakes her head-
Lucius, you're never a burden. Speak to me.
-Lucius looks down at the floor, a pained expression crossing his face.-
Lucius: Well... to tell you the truth, I've been thinking about us. About our relationship.
-Samantha tilts her head-
...oh?
-Lucius looks up at Samantha.-
Lucius: How long has it been since we last talked to each other? Two months, give or take? And we'd only known each other for all of about five minutes before we hooked up... I like you, Sam, I really do. I just don't know if I can bring myself to open up to someone I haven't had time to form a proper connection with, especially after what's happened recently...
-Samantha shuts her eyes to think of what to say next. She breathes in and out, and speaks-
Lucius. I admit that it moved really fast. We should have probably slowed things down more. I put my hands up to that one.
-she does so-
But that said, the reason why we haven't talked in two months was because of unusual circumstances. We were both really busy; I was in Illusion, you were a superhero. But that might have been what we needed; time away from each other so we could sort of cool off, because you were right: we went too fast. But we compensated for that with our time away.
-she sighs-
You've heard the expression "absence makes the heart grow fonder"?
-Lucius nods, though he still looks somewhat uncertain.-
Lucius: ...You're not bothered by the fact that I tried to hide the whole superhero thing from you? That I've done all sorts of awful things whilst we were separated?
-Samantha shakes her head-
I'm not angry at the superhero thing. What's the point of being a superhero if you tell people that AREN'T superheroes who you are? And I don't know what you did, so I can't say.
