Pokemon Moon: Ludmilla Run

SPOILERS!

(duh)

What is this?

This is a fun little idea I had where, replacing the Schrodinger Protagonist with a certain other ~11 year old protagonist of mine, I will be playing through Pokemon Moon and posting the results here, in the form of both in-character journal entries in italics, standard RP writing, and

my own personal thoughts denoted into quoteblocks.

What's so special about this run?

For this run, I will be starting with Doomsday the Chansey (lvl 5) and two recently hatched (lvl 1) egg Pokemon. However, while that may sound incredibly good for a start, there's a self-imposed caveat to all of this: I will only be able to catch THREE (3) more Pokemon to round out my team, and NOT A SINGLE ONE MORE. No Pokemon sitting in boxes with maybe a few exceptions (legendaries and UBs) and no trading out members. Which means that if I end up hitting a roadblock, I will need to work with the team I have.

How often will this update?

Erm, funny I should preemptively ask that, but this will probably be a bit slow to update due to me requiring both the time and location to type up these posts while also playing. My working memory is usually kinda crap at that. BUT. I WILL get this done. Eventually.

I hope.

Finally finished my first day... er... night...? in Alola. Daddy said I should keep a journal of my time here so I can go back and read it later! Also it helps my handwriting.

Where do I start? First there was this crazy guy who didn't wear a shirt...

Professor Kukui: Welcome to Alola, cousin! Looks like you might be a bit jet-lagged, yeah, being up and about at this time of night!

Ludmilla: Oh, uh, h-hello.

... and then we went up the a little village looking for something called a "kahuna"...

Professor Kukui: They must be up the path towards the ruins! Hey, mind checking up that way?

Ludmilla: Uh... okay? What does he looks like?

Professor Kukui: What, the kahuna? You can't miss him! He looks just like a kahuna!

Ludmilla: :I

... but instead I find a girl wearing a really big hat. I followed her up the path, and a strange little puff ball jumped out of her bag and got attacked by bird-things Spearow. She asked me to go help the little thing. She called it... Nebby? I think I spelled that right. Might be spelled Nebi. Or Nebbie. Or I may have misheard her and it's actually Debbie. Anyway, I tried scaring the Spearow, but they just got angrier and meaner. Doomsday was still sleeping from the trip over (said she had "jet lag") so I had to go out and help the little puff ball myself.

-The bridge rocks violently as Ludmilla walks across.-

Ludmilla: Hey!

-She stops. She takes another few steps, causing even more rocking.-

Ludmilla: HEY! Stupid bridge! Stop shaking! >:I

-She takes a few more steps, and the bridge... doesn't shake.-

Ludmilla: Oh! Thank you, bridge!

When I got to the little puff ball, all I could do was shield it with my body. It made little jingly sounds as I tried to... how did Auntie Psyche call it... "scream" the Spearow off. They got even angrier, and Nebby(?) got really excited! He She He They exploded with enough psychic energy to make my head spin! It even broke the bridge we were on, and we almost fell into the river! I was so scared my emergency release patch turned on!

-The local Guardian notices some activity near his ruins.-

Tapu Koko: <Hrm?>

Spearow 1: <HOLY CRABCAKES did you see that?!>

Spearow 2: <Serves them right for breaking our bridge!>

Spearow 3: <Uh, guys, I think that's the Guardi- *SMACK* OW MY FACE!>

-Tapu Koko SMACK's the hoodlum birds away before diving to save the falling duo.-

Ludmilla: AAAAAAAAAAH!

Nebby: PEWWWWWWW!

*BEEPBEEPBEEP* Emergency release activated!

Tapu Koko: <Don't worry kid, I got you.>

-The Guardian snatches up the young girl and Pokemon just as a Pokeball on the girl's belt releases.-

Doomsday: *SNORT* <Huh, wha->

*SPLASH*

Doomsday: <BLABABALALJGLALABALLJAkDLALABLJKALBAGLB>

Doomsday was kinda cranky after that.

-Ludmilla sighs in relief as she's set down on solid ground. Nebby sits in her arms, eyes locked on the lightning-shrouded creature that had saved them. Tapu Koko just stares at the group for a bit before bolting off into the sky. Doomsday, meanwhile, is scaling back up the cliff, cursing and spitting water as she goes.-

Lilly: Oh my goodness...

Ludmilla: Please don't tell Daddy or Mommy I did that.

Re: Ludmilla's Moon Journal: SPOILERS! (duh)

I was a little weirded out at the time, but it turns out the Tapu Coco Koko had left a weird stone behind. I would have asked him what it was but he'd already left. After that I followed Lilly Lillie (why am I so bad with names?) back to the village, where the Kahuna was - he had a big bushy white mustache, kinda like Cun, but not as big. He called himself the Kahuna, but I can't remember his actual name. Unless Kahuna IS his name. I dunno, this is all confusing. He offered me a Pokemon, but Doomsday got indignant and said she was all I needed. She's so silly sometimes.

After that, Mommy came and picked me up. We went to a "Bed and Breakfast" in the village (I think it's called Iki? Or Icky? I don't know) and apparently there's going to be a festival tomorrow! Maybe I'll be able to let the two Pokemon Uncle Ren gave me out to play!

Anyway, goodnight journal! Is it weird that I'm wishing my journal goodnight?

3

Re: Ludmilla's Moon Journal: SPOILERS! (duh)

Today was awesome!

There was a festival! Mommy says that festivals are like big parties where people eat, dance, all that sort of stuff, at the same time every year. I even got to let Hermes and Anastasia out to play!

Ludmilla: Alright you two - play nice now.

-Hermes the Pichu salutes while Anastasia the Bounsweet gives a sassy wink.-

Hermes: Chu!

Anastasia: Sweet~

Doomsday: <Seriously, though, I'd better not have to save either of you.>

After a while I was asked to help with one of the most important parts of the festival - a battle! I thought that was kinda weird, but then Mommy said it was like doing a dance but with slight amounts of playful violence. I think that's what she meant, at least. Anywho, I got to fight Big Bushy Mustache's grandson - his name's... How? Hau? Hwa? I'm not sure how to spell it. I'm not sure how to spell a lot of things here in Alola.

-Hau jumps up and down, excitement radiating off of him.-

Hau: Hey there Ludmilla! Let's give Tapu Koko the best fight he's ever seen!

Ludmilla: Okay.

-Hau sends out a Poplio. Ludmilla blinks.-

Ludmilla: Huh. Never seen that Pokemon before.

Hau: Poplio here is one of Alola's mascot Pokemon! He's not gonna lose to nobody!

-Ludmilla tosses out her Pokeball, and Doomsday stops onto the wooden arena with both feet.-

Doomsday: <Wanna bet?>

Doomsday hasn't been in that many battles, but neither had How Hau's Poplio. I still won though - Doomsday is really tough against Special Attacks, and Hau kept using Water Gun.

Tapu Koko: Kooo-ko-kooo-ko-kooooooooooooooo!

Deziree: Sounds like Tapu Koko liked the battle, too.

Doomsday: <He'd better! I'm a real contender!>

Hermes: Pi?

Oh, I forgot to mention this, but that shiny stone I got from Tapu Coco Koko? I gave it to Big Bushy Mustache and he turned it into a neat bracelet for me! Apparently it can do all sorts of weird stuff - I wonder if it can turn me into a Pokemon like Mommy's bracelet?

Big Bushy Mustache: And take this as well. This charm will show that you are undertaking the Island Trial challenge!

Deziree: Oh, is that like a Gym Challenge?

Big Bushy Mustache: Of a sort. We don't have gyms here, or even a true League like what Kanto or Hoenn have, but the Trials are also that much harder. It will test not just your Pokemon, it'll test yourself and your resolve.

Ludmilla: Don't worry! I'll get strong, just like Daddy!

I'm kinda speeding through this part of the game since it's honestly not all that interesting for somebody whose already played the game and it's filled to the brim with tutorials. You'll notice I skipped the part with Professor Kukui teaching you how to catch Pokemon, because it was kinda redundant and I couldn't think of a way to put my own spin on it. Don't worry though - we're getting to the good parts in the next few posts!

Re: Ludmilla's Moon Journal: SPOILERS! (duh)

After that, we went to a Trainer School - kinda like the one that Dune took me to in Phenac, but without the pretty basement. Doomsday had a fun time there... at least until we got to to the last guy they wanted me to fight.

Rising Star Joseph: You managed to beat everyone else? Hey, then you might actually be worth my time.

Ludmilla: You're nasty, not like Uncle Joseph. >:I

-The student throws out a Grimer.-

Doomsday: <A Grimer? Easy!>

-Doomsday uses Psychic!-

-It has no effect...-

Doomsday: <WHAT>

Rising Star Joseph: Hah! You really have no idea what sort of Pokemon Alola has, do you?

He was kinda right - this place is weird. I should have expected weird Pokemon, too.

-Doomsday huffs as the Grimer then Bites her.-

Doomsday: <Oh, NOW you're asking for it!>

-Doomsday used Pound!-

-Grimer's Poison Touch activates! Doomsday is now poisoned.-

Doomsday: <AW C'MON>

I wonder if it's alright that I snuck in a few potions during that fight. Anywho, after that we got called to see the principal. This school is a lot nicer and warmer than the School was...

Teacher Emily: Good work beating my students! But as an educator, I must defend my style of teaching!

Ludmilla: Wha...?

Teacher Emily: Battle me!

This place is weird...

-Teacher Emily sent out Magnetite!-

Ludmilla: Uh oh. That's a Steel-Type.

-Doomsday used Psychic!-

-Magnemite used Thunder Shock!-

-Doomsday used Psychic!-

-Magnemite used Thunder Shock!-

This went on for a while.

-Enemy Magnemite fainted!-

Doomsday: <FINALLY!>

-Teacher Emily sent out Meowth!-

Doomsday: <Oh, for fu->

-Meowth used Bite!-

-Doomsday fainted!-

Ludmilla: Gah! Stupid cat!

Alola even has cat-things?! Why did I agree to come here?!

-Ludmilla checks her belts before sending out a Pokeball at random.-

-Ludmilla sent out Anastasia!-

Anastasia: Sweet~

Ludmilla: Make the cat go away!

-The Bousweet looks the Dark Cat up and down before skipping at it with a sinister grin. The Meowth Leers at it as the little fruit struts up and begins to beat the ever-loving crap out of it. The Bounsweet throws the Meowth across the room.-

-Anastasia used Play Rough!-

Ludmilla: Yay!

-She runs up and hugs the little ball of fruit.-

Uncle Ren is the best~

Re: Ludmilla's Moon Journal: SPOILERS! (duh)

After beating everyone in the school, Professor Kukui and Lillie came by and told me about the nearby city. I'd seen it peaking over the hills but I didn't know it was so close. Lillie offered to take me over to it, and almost walked into an angry Tauros! Thankfully Big Bushy Mustache Hala was there to help calm him down. The Tauros seemed to like me, at least. Probably because he's not all that scary. Just big and kinda dumb.

Tauros: <Nice lady! Not scared! You strong eyes!>

Ludmilla: I'm... not sure what that means, but... thank you?

After the Tauros calmed down and went on his way, we wandered into the city. It was big! A nice lady told me how "Alola" means hello, goodbye, AND is the region's name. I didn't know a word could mean so many things, but then again, this place is weird. Lillie talked about picking up some new clothes. Mommy had given me some money when she was visiting for the festival, so I got some stuff for myself. Would you believe they didn't have anything in yellow?! I went with my second favorite color, purple - got a new shirt, some new socks, and a nice hat to go with the sunglasses Daddy had given me.

Townsfolk: Hey, you hear about some Team Skull ne'er-do-wells down by the marina?

Other Townsfolk: What kind of word is "ne'er-do-well", anyway? I mean, I know it's a contraction for "never do well", but not only is that extremely archaic, but it's also especially demeaning!

Townsfolk: Wait, how did we get on this subject?

Other Townsfolk: I am pedantic!

This place is weird.

-Ludmilla wanders around town, her Pichu, Hermes, on her shoulder. Other Pichu, on the other side of various gates and fences, wave to him as he waves back.-

There are a lot of Pichu around here! And Ratatta. And... cat-things. Thankfully, they keep to the fenced areas so they don't wander into the road and cause problems. There's a mall here, too, but for some reason it was closed. Dunno why.

-Ludmilla wanders toward the docks, and spots Hau near a store.-

Hau: Oh, hey, Ludmilla! C'mon over here, there's something I want to show you!

-Ludmilla rolls her eyes at Hau's inexhaustible energy.-

Hau: This is a malasada store! It's a fried food here in Alola that is absolutely delicious! I love them so much! You can feed them to your Pokemon and they'll probably love you for it! Man, I want one right now!

-Ludmilla's stomach rumbles. This mention of food was enough to have her inside in a heartbeat.-

Cashier: Welcome! Would you like a malasada today?

Ludmilla: Four, please!

Cashier: My my, someone has a pretty big team of Pokemon then!

Ludmilla: Oh no, one's for my Pichu, the other three are for me.

Cashier: ... You know that these things are pretty big, right?

Ludmilla: Yes please! :3

Cashier: Uh... okay, don't say I didn't warn you. Go ahead and take a seat, and we'll bring them over as soon as they're out of the fryer.

-Ludmilla and Hermes take a seat, the Pichu swinging his legs as he waits. Eventually, the cashier brings the tray of fried treats over, and indeed they are big.-

-Unfortunately for them, their factor of intimidation due to their size was undermined by the fact that they smelled fresh and sweet, the two things Ludmilla loved the most. Hermes was halfway through his malasada when Ludmilla had finished her third and last.-

Cashier: ... Wow. You, uh, really packed those away, huh?

Ludmilla: Can I get two more to go?

-The cashier's jaw hits the floor.-

I really really like malasadas~

Re: Ludmilla's Moon Journal: SPOILERS! (duh)

After that we headed down to the marina. Found a... person there named Ilima. I think Ilima is a guy. I'm not sure, in honesty. Reminds me of Uncle Auntie Uncle Auntie Kieran Sarah bleh.

Ilima: Hey there, Captain Ilima here! You must be the girl Kukui told me about. Looks like your acclimating to Alola pretty well. Minus the fact that it's the middle of the night.

Ludmilla: Mommy calls it "jet lag".

Ilima: Yeah, that's pretty common. But you aren't scared to be out wandering at night?

Ludmilla: Nope.

-Ilima shrugs. She seemed confident enough.-

???: Yo yo yo!

And then these guys showed up.

Team Skull Grunt A: Like a Mandibuzz flock, we come to rock!

Team Skull Grunt B: Yo, Cap Ilima, hand over your Pokemon before we gots to drop even sicker rhymes on ya!

Ilima: Well, just make sure you don't hurt yourself. There are plenty of aides around during the trials, but there might not be on some of the paths further out.

-The Grunts just stare as they're ignored.-

Grunt A: Hey! HEY! We're talkin' to you here! C'mon and show us some fear!

Grunt B: Yeah, c'mon numbskull! We're here for your Pokemon! Hand'em over and there won't be any problems!

-Ilima sighs.-

Ilima: Ludmilla, these two belong to Team Skull, a group of Pokemon thieves. You wanna take that one while I take this one?

Ludmilla: *blink*

Grunt A: What, you think you can take me? You gettin' up in mah grill?! C'mon, then! Let's throw down!

This place is weird.

-Team Skull Grunt sends out Zubat!-

-Ludmilla sends out Hermes!-

Ludmilla: Hermes, Thunder Shock!

-The Pichu concentrates for a moment before zapping the Zubat and paralyzing it.-

Grunt A: Yo, what, man?! Why the odds gotta be so against me, just like society! Absorb!

-The Zubat twitches as it barely keeps itself in the air.-

Grunt A: Aw, c'mon!

Ludmilla: Well, this was easy. Thunder Shock!

-The Zubat slumps to the ground after one more shocking. Hermes stands tall and proud - or, as tall as a Pichu can stand, anyhow.-

Grunt A: Now that was just unfair!

-There's a flash of light, and where once stood a Pichu now stands a much taller Pikachu.-

Hermes: <Ah, much better! I feel like I can take on the world!>

Grunt A: Oh, really?! You even evolved a Pokemon by beating me?! Man, now I just feel like some disposable random trainer you fight on the road!

Re: Ludmilla's Moon Journal: SPOILERS! (duh)

TODAY IS THE BEST DAY EVER

-After getting rid of Team Skull and impressing Ilima, Ludmilla heads northward, once again finding the Team Skull Grunts harassing a berry farmer. Ludmilla proceeds to beat the other Grunt's Drowzee pretty handily.-

Doomsday: <C'MON, I'm gonna ram my fist so far up your nose I'll be able to play it like a brass instrument!>

Drowzee: <That doesn't even make sense!> D=

-The Grunts go running off once again.-

Farmer: Thanks! Say, if you see any of the local berry trees with a pile of berries under them, you can go ahead and take them. Just be sure to share with any nearby Pokemon.

Ludmilla: Okay!

-Ludmilla continues making her way north, finding a Pokemon center with a berry tree next to it - the young girl spies the berries lying on the ground, as promised.-

Ludmilla: Oh, hey. Berries!

-Ludmilla wades through the grass towards the berries when suddenly a Pokemon interjects itself between her and her target.-

Ludmilla: =O

-Ludmilla's eyes go wide and the biggest smiles spreads across her face.-

Ludmilla: PUPPY!

Growlithe: ?

-Ludmilla lunges to hug the wild Growlithe only for the canine to jump back and growl. Ludmilla takes out a Pokeball.-

Ludmilla: I'm gonna catch you! Go, Hermes!

-The Pikachu takes the field and salutes.-

Hermes: <Reporting for duty!>

Ludmilla: We're gonna catch that puppy!

Hermes: <Copy that!>

-Hermes shocks the Growlithe with a Thunder Shock before the canine retaliates with a Bite. Unfortunately, the physical contact with the sparky mouse triggered Static, paralyzing the pup.-

Hermes: <1.21 gigawatts!>

Ludmilla: YEAH!

-She throws the Pokeball and watches in suspense as the Growlithe is sucked inside.-

*wiggle*

*wiggle*

Hermes: <Mission success!>

Ludmilla: WOOHOO!

I GOT A PUPPY

Re: Ludmilla's Moon Journal: SPOILERS! (duh)

I LOVE MY PUPPY

-Ludmilla rubs the medicine all over the little canine, and the Growlithe just sits there.-

Ludmilla: Aaaaaaw who's a good girl? Who's a good girl? You's a good girl! You's a good girl!

Growlithe: <... I am?>

Ludmilla: Oh yes you are! Oh yes you are!

-The Growlithe realizes that she isn't paralyzed anymore as Ludmilla starts rubbing her ears and belly.-

Ludmilla: Who's my cute little puppy?

Growlithe: <I am?>

Ludmilla: You are!

Growlithe: <I am?!>

Ludmilla: You are!

-The Growlithe starts thumping her leg as Ludmilla happens to find one particular spot, right under her ribs, that just feels sooooooo good to have itched. She rolls over and starts kicking both legs and Ludmilla scratches her up and down.-

Ludmilla: I even have a name for you!

Growlithe: <Oh! Oh! A name?!>

Ludmilla: Yeah! A name! I'm gonna name you Cu-Sith!

Cu-Sith: <Yay! A name!>

Ludmilla: My daddy has a dog named Cun Annwn, and I named you after kinda sorta the same thing that he was named after!

Cu-Sith: <Yay! Belly rubs, a name, loves and cuddles!>

Ludmilla: Yaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Cu-Sith: <Yaaaaaaaaaaaay!>

I LOVE MY PUPPY

Re: Ludmilla's Moon Journal: SPOILERS! (duh)

With my new puppy, we went into the Verdant Cavern! Captain Ilima said hi, and basically said that I couldn't leave until the challenge was finished one way or another. No worries, I have Doomsday!

Doomsday: <Alright, so, what do we have to do?>

Ludmilla: We have to beat three Pokemon that are around here... somewhere.

-A dust cloud rushes past Ludmilla's feet.-

Ludmilla: Gah!

Doomsday: <Like that?>

Ludmilla: Get'em!

-Doomsday jumps on top of the cloud and smothers it.-

Doomsday: <Ah HAH!>

-And then something bites her.-

Doomsday: <YEEEEEEEOW!>

-The Alolan Ratatta shakes his fist at Doomsday, who is now fussing over the bite on her belly.-

Doomsday: <That really hurt, you rodent!>

Ludmilla: ... Doomsday?

Doomsday: <Right! C'm'ere, you vermin scum, I'm gonna slap the plague right out of you!>

Also, these Alola Ratatta are also Dark-Type.

Doomsday: <GAH STOP BITING ME YOU LITTLE BAG OF TETANUS!>

So they're immune to Psychic, too.

Doomsday: <I'm GONNA PILE DRIVE YOU>

I kinda have to wonder why I agreed to come here.

Doomsday: <Alright... I... did it... Oh... wait... two more... crap...>

Again.

Anastasia: <Tell you what, Big'n'Beautiful, let me handle it next few, okay?>

Doomsday: <If you weren't several degrees of healthier than me I would slap you.>

10

Re: Ludmilla's Moon Journal: SPOILERS! (duh)

The second Ratatta lunged right at us, but thankfully Anastasia managed to hit him from the side. She's really, really strong for a tiny little fruit.

-Anastasia used Play Rough!-

-Wild Ratatta fainted!-

Anastasia: ... <I feel funny.>

-A light envelops the bouncing round fruit, before bursting and revealing a legged, armed, and long-"haired" little humanoid.-

Anastasia: <Woah!>

-Congratulations! Your Anastasia evolved into Steenee!-

Ludmilla: Wow, Ana! You're pretty!

Anastasia: <Was it ever in doubt?>

-The new Steenee gives a little laugh.-

Anastasia: <Now, let's finish this trial and move on!>

It took a while to find the last Ratatta, but I found a TM in the process! It said, "Brick Break" - which I remember Uncle Rill saying was one of his favorite moves.

Ludmilla: Huh. I wonder who I can use this on...

-She pulls our her P*DA and plugs the TM in to see what Pokemon are compatible with it. She notices a lot of red "NOT COMPATIBLE" markers... and one black "COMPATIBLE".-

Hermes: <Wait, me?!>

Ludmilla: According to Daddy's P*DA, yeah.

Hermes: <That's soooo cooooool! Er, um, I mean, Doomsday can't learn it?>

Doomsday: <These hands may be made for destruction as well as healing, but sorry junior - you're the only one right now.>

-Hermes learned Brick Break!-

I kinda wonder why they left such a strong TM in the middle of a trial filled with Pokemon so weak to it...

11

Re: Ludmilla's Moon Journal: SPOILERS! (duh)

We found the last Ratatta, but...

Doomsday: <There he is!>

Ludmilla: No, there!

Cu-Sith: <I smell him on the ridge.>

Doomsday: <HE JUST KEEPS MOVING!>

Grunt A: Yo yo yo! You remember us?

Doomsday: <Finally, someone I won't feel guilty about taking my aggressive tendencies out on!>

12

Re: Ludmilla's Moon Journal: SPOILERS! (duh)

-One battle later-

Grunt A: Oh man, what?!

Grunt B: Man, why are we doin' this? We can just catch some of these super-strong Trial Pokemon! We don't need to deal with this pipsqueak anymore!

Ludmilla: ... "Pipsqueak"?

-The two grunts go and stake out two of the Ratatta's hideyholes.-

I was just going to have my Pokemon sit at those holes, but this way I don't have to split my team!

Ludmilla: Alright, the last Ratatta should be right...

-She tosses a rock into the hole, and the rodent Pokemon comes dashing out.-

Hermes: <Gotcha!>

-Hermes used Brick Break!-

-The Wild Ratatta fainted.-

Ludmilla: Alright! Time to keep going!

-Ludmilla walks past the guide at the end of the trial course, waving goodbye to the Skull Grunts. Neither of them are looking at her, patiently waiting for a Pokemon to appear from their holes.-

13

Re: Ludmilla's Moon Journal: SPOILERS! (duh)

-Ludmilla walks into the clearing at the end of the cave.-

Ludmilla: I've got a bad feeling about this...

Doomsday: <Oh, don't worry. We've handled everything so far.>

Ludmilla: But those Ratatta were already pretty big. Raticate are supposed to be even bigger, and I don't doubt one of them is around.

Doomsday: <Oh, please. Raticate of Unusual Size? I don't believe those actually exist.>

-Ludmilla reaches towards the crystal on the pedestal.-

???: <OI!>

-A massive black Raticate leaps out from the shadows, almost as tall as Ludmilla herself.-

Doomsday: ... <I'm just gonna go wallow in my shame in the corner. Good luck.>

Ludmilla: Hey!
